'Slumdog Millionaire' director Danny Boyle is not set to direct the next James Bond movie

Perhaps it was wishful thinking from some die-hard James Bond fans, or maybe Danny Boyle looks really good in a tux. Whatever the reasoning, the rumor that the British Slumdog Millionaire Oscar winner is in line to direct the next Bond movie is not true, EW has learned. "I enjoy the Bond movies, always have and always will, but I have no plans to direct one," Boyle says via e-mail. "I don't know who came up with the story, but please tell them I'm very flattered to be thought of!"

Morgan Says "Bond 23" Is 'Shocking'



While he couldn’t discuss a great deal about the film, scribe Peter Morgan said we can expect ‘a shocking story’ for the next James Bond feature reports MI6.

Currently in Vienna, Morgan was at work on the first draft of the "Bond 23" script from July to October of this year. He's known for his scripts for "The Queen," "The Last King of Scotland," "Frost/Nixon" and "The Damned United",

Pre-production work on the film however has now been put on hold until February as the heavily in debt MGM, through which EON Productions release the 007 pictures, is up for sale.

Despite the issues it's expected that filming will commence at the end of 2010 for a release November 2011.

It’s Official: MGM Scraps the Next Installment in the James Bond Franchise

It’s sad, dear readers, but apparently very true: Ain’t It Cool News is reporting today that MGM has officially canceled the next installment of the James Bond series while it continues to figure out how to deal with its currentl financial woes. Although I’m not surprised by the news, it’s still a very tough pill to swallow. In this wonky writer’s extremely humble opinion, Daniel Craig helped reinvigorate a franchise that had grown impossibly stale, and the fact that he won’t be able to continue redefining this iconic character is grossly disappointing. Way to go, MGM. First you complicate “The Hobbit”, now you’re screwing with Bond. Insert angry fist shaking and colorful expletives here.

In the meantime, I suppose I’ll have to fill this particularly devastating vacancy with extremely low-quality bootleg episodes of the ill-fated cartoon series “James Bond, Jr.” That’s how truly and unapologetically pathetic I am.

It’s Official: Bond 23 is a Go



Well, after a lot of fits and starts and money troubles, it looks like a Sam Mendes-directed Bond movie (that’ll be #23, in case you’re keeping track at home) is finally, officially a go for production. MGM made the announcement themselves in a short but sweet press release:



So there you have it, Bond fans. The still untitled Bond 23 will commence production late 2011 for a November 9, 2012 release.

I thought they scrap the charm and dashingness when Daniel Craig fill-in the shoes of Bond? 

Weren't there what they call it the most rugged Bond ever? 

Yay! "Casino Royale" was great, "Quantum of Solace" was equally fantastic... and now they're making the third. Bring it on!

Just don't hurt any stunt drivers...
