Watched it... loved it...
Saw it at MBO Kepong Village in 2D.
It is a remarkable feat - everything felt like it fell into place like a perfectly placed puzzle piece and the whole story with M and Bond is brilliant! As always Judi Dench delivered a remarkable performance.
And what about Javier Bardem's villainous role as Raoul Silva - reminiscence of The Joker in a number of ways.
Unfortunately, the whole hoo-haa with Berenice Marlohe is a bit underwhelming ; underwhelming in the sense that her presence in the movie is quite lacking, just not enough screen time. I can safely say her role was totally pinned down by Eve (Naomie Harris). I expected more from Severine's character, but seems all of a sudden she just disappears. Special mention about Ben Whishaw who played Q - great decision to cast him and love the banter between him and Bond.
The ending sequence is absolutely memorable. Not going to spoil anything but it gets quite emotional (did not expect it - I was like, no way...
it won't happen).
Great job done by Sam Mendes, and here's hoping that the same film makers return for Bond 24 and Bond 25.
For me, it is
Casino Royale > Skyfall > Quantum of Solace. What the first Craig Bond film did was just way too high to be superseded.
+ Brilliant plot involving M's past and Bond's 'return' to duty
+ Raoul Silva / Tiago - I absolutely loved how they introduced him... a single, continous shot of him walking towards Bond as he talks about the rat/coconut story.
The whole intro segment with Bond tied-up was just memorable!
+ Action sequences are top notch and edge-of-your-seat experience
+ Emotional ending, overall the last act was solid!
- Severine's character lacked screen time - all of a sudden she's gone
- Hard a hard time liking the
opening title sequence to the film - Casino Royale with the cards opening still the best, can't remember sh** about QoS's opening title
- The
dialogues can feel at times a bit prolonged
Nothing much else to fault for "Skyfall". It was just yet another film with spot on film making decisions and a cast that really brought the characters to life. Still, "Casino Royale" is the best Craig Bond film... this one comes close but not quite to the first one.
This film deserves a solid
9/10.
Worth a second watch if you ask me...
