just some questions:
1. The most user friendly linux OS?
2. which linux OS would you all suggest if I want to play linux and android  games?
3. Is there any similar software/apps to Wine ?
*
1. Mint/Ubuntu
2. For android games, use android itself. I've never tried to play android games on other distros. Steam have native support for Linux, so you can use any distros for gaming without whining. Or if you could wait, Steam is developing its own Linux-based OS, maybe that'll suit you more.
3. I'm not sure, VMWare maybe?

Change from Ubuntu to Mint. Personally Mint are more friendly to beginners like me compared to Ubuntu.

more friendly in terms of what actually? I've always heard that it is more friendly, and I've used it myself, but I don't feel any differences between the two

agreed, it may user friendly on the GUI, but when you start getting deeper, you'll realize Ubuntu/Mint can be very hard. I personally prefer system wide user friendly over just GUI user friendly.

... have been using ubuntu on a very old pentium 4 processor desktop ... couple of hick ups but no real issue along the way ... am very happy that such an old computer does just as good as new in doing normal daily task jobs ...

I have an older version of Lubuntu running on Pentium 3 1.6ghz with 512 ram.

Currently thinking of going for lighter weight distribution. Perhaps puppy Linux, or slax or porteus. The latter two are much nicer UI wise as compared to puppy Linux.

The system is for Web browsing for my younger sister.

Yeap. currently running LXLE, the LTS alternative for Lubuntu. since it is LTS, i don't have to do much maintenance and just let it auto update itself.

LXLE http://distrowatch.com/lxle

Vector Linux is quite fast too.

currently using the LXLE as the main os on the Pentium 3 with 512mb.

another distro that I found, which is really2 fast is Porteus. http://distrowatch.com/porteus the system is loaded into RAM a-la puppy linux and the design is very modular such that apps are packaged into modules and you can swap the modules as you wish before you load. most of the apps are also compatible with various DEs. it currently supports kde4, lxde, xfce, mate, razor qt.

running porteus from a USB on a slightly newer PC with 2GB RAM and it flies. enabling zram helps too. currently has it setup to run if the family just need to browse web, they prefer the KDE interface too. try it out here http://build.porteus.org main site here http://www.porteus.org/ thumbup.gif

it has replaced my go to bootable usb from puppy linux to porteus.

there are other distros that can run from RAM, and they are generally faster if you have an older PC, with decent RAM size.

list available here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Linux...at_run_from_RAM

ranging from very minimal ram requirement of 4mb to 4gb.

What the flipping f is a Manjaro you ask? Here's the About page. It's an Arch Linux based distro that's supposedly noob friendly. And why Arch? That I can't answer any better than the more experienced and knowledgeable gurus here. 1 or 2 will pounce and answer I'm sure of it  sweat.gif .

It's not noob-friendly until you can update the display drivers smile.gif

anyone interested to try North Korea's Red Star OS linux?

the iso is here http://thepiratebay.se/torrent/10280206

about - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Star_OS

Red Star OS 3.0 Server x86 *cracked*
````````````````````````````````````
Sure, there's probably an easier way but i'm lazy and can't be bothered to recreate the iso in a linux vm.
So.. you need to burn boot.iso and rss3_32_key_gui_20131212.iso
Insert the boot cd (or mount it in your VM) and boot from it, when you get to the blue install screen swap media to rss3_32_key_gui_20131212
This first screen asks for a serial, but it accepts any serial (even a blank one) if you boot from boot.iso, which has 12 bytes nopped out in /sbin/loader of initrd. It'd be appreciated if some reverser more skilled than me can take a look at the serial algorithm and code a keygen. I believe the algo is located at 0x806A820.
Don't ask me how I got this. Also don't ask me why the redstar guys added serial protection since redstar 2.x.
There exists an x64 version of this, but I don't have that, just the x86 version.
I also do not have the desktop version, just the server version, but since this is the first ever leak of Red Star OS Server, and the first ever leak of redstar 3.0, why aren't you thanking me already?!
Enjoy!
