itunes automaticly make a backup for me if i want to restore contact number, notes, and calender , do i just click restore from back up or setup as new phone? i ask this because i have read when he restore, all his picture etc are gone hope someone can help in this |

1st/2nd gen iphone: 2nd GEN iphone sg set

Don't need as most of us JB with simcard in the phone. Sometimes simple solutions like taking out and inserting the sim back to the phone might work in some cases. Do try before proceeding to repwn your phone.
Anyway, since you're already on Fw 2.1, launch quickpwn and proceed JB. Just follow closely to the guide. Hope you can have the signal back. This is weird, seldom heard ppl has this issue but before FW2.1, like 2.0, 2.0.1 and 2.0.2, a lot of ppl tick the activate option when JB, normally this will occur. Hmm.

1. Iphone 3g and 2g whats the difference apart from the obvious?? (The bluetooth which one can use to transfer files??) 2. are the processor in 3g or 2g better? are the reception any better? 3. softwares I know 2G doesn't have Cydia..so thats the disadvantage!! If u can see Cydia/Installer then it's already jailbroken. To check where the phone is from ... go to ... http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1937 and check the part number. U can check the part number from the box or in settings. |

U can't just assume that it is official Singapore unit, coz it might be a locked US unit that they sell in singapore...and there is a difference in the cause based on the description of that problem...

hello there..last nite after upload songs into my iphone via ifun..and reboot my phone as usual..suddenly my ipod app. not functioning at all..FYI, iphone currently firmware 2.1,2g and JB. I can't view any song even on the ifun folder i able to see all those songs and videos. Pls help and advise accordingly.TQ and very much appreciated.

aiyooo....very scared to JB my own laaa...the iPod icon is there n when click there's no song or videos file at all...also can switch button between Playlist,artist, songs & etc. It just stuck there. When connect to itunes it show device not recognized anymore...but if using ifun the files is there...help me pls.cant provide pic bcoz unable to connect via itunes unless restore to factory setting. tks

Use iFunBox ... navigate to raw file system and go to /private/var/mobile/Media and delete the iTunes_Control folder. Open iTunes and sync back all your songs, tv series or movies. That should solve your problem without restoring the phone. U cannot simply drag and drop mp3's into iPhone with iFunBox. Doing that will corrupt the ipod database. Thats why the itunes cannot recognize and ask to restore. Always use iTunes to sync your media. Its different from iPod where itunes will process the DB handling and processing where iPod only receive the file. In iPhone, the DB handling and processing is done within the iPhone itself (as it's a small computer with OS). |

I was just wondering whether you guys experience this before. Here is what happens to my Iphone 3G yesterday. My usage and my standby time is running at the same time when I'm not even using it. I tried off/on again and same thing happen. I don't know which 3rd party software is running on the background even though i already reboot it. So decide to restore back and everything runs fine now.

also another thing, david, u know when u connect ur iphone to pc using the cable, u get some "tone" from the iphone, so show that it's connected......so how to disable that? |

Has anybody ever experience using a iPhone 3G unlock with issues "Phone sometimes asked to Unlock the SIM Card" while it is already activated? It happens randomly and I had to re-unlock the SIM card again. |

hanxz, u remember my couz, with da white i3g, he is using with turbosim..he face this prob...and da saddest part is tat he dun hv da disable pin option on his settings menu.. hardware unlock is so darn frustrating man |

that is what im thinking. mine is jb, and i have the map of my location now. but everytime i pinpoint my location, the gps just wont work.
plus, can it show direction, i mean from A to B. no right? |

what is the best practise for improving the lifespan of the battery? charge only whenever the battery is low or 20%? charge anytime u like? overnite charge is a big NO? thanks |

guys, i have a question.

number 1; most of the times, experiences between iphone users differ to a great extend due to numerous reasons.
number 2; apple products are not God sent, therefore they are subjected to flaws and disadvantages. if they do not pose any problem, i do not see why you should be worrying about it so much. number 3: may i suggest that you upgrade to the latest fw and itunes version instead? |

tried searching and breezing through all the many threads and posts, but couldn't find anything about my question.
i have an officially unlocked iphone3g, firmware 2.1, jailbreaken. can i just directly use quickpwn to update+jailbreak to firmware 2.2 one shot... or must I update via iTunes first, THEN only use quickpwn to jailbreak?? don't scold me if the answer's already out there somewhere. i tried looking for the past hour-ish, no luck. point me in the right direction someone. thanks! |

synchronise all of your contacts to outlook and then proceed to delete them on your PC. synchronise again to complete the process.
i have not tried this maneuver per se, but it makes perfect sense. do report back. |

my first post and it is a problem. just read the thread before n never know i'll face with such problem. iPhone Generation : 2G 1st gen Current Firmware : 2.1 iTunes Version : Currently updated to v8.0.1 but problem arise b4 upgrade Computer Platform : Windows XP Jailbreaking software : n/a Problem Encountered : all the numbers went missing. if i press the phone numeric keypad, 1st number appear. press the 2nd number, the 1st one dissapear. the number start in the middle instead from right to left. contact numbers missing, but when they call me the phone can detect who. Steps Had Taken (list down) : read the thread Problem Screenshot (if any) : Other Info / Remark : help... i can only call those in my recent list only. one more thing, kindly explain the solution in lay man term. i quite confused with those IT term. sorry. hope all the gurus can help me on this. thanx in advance. worst case senario..... u got to restore it....
seems like its going hay wire there.... try doing clean restore and upgrade from your itunes by clicking the restore button (make sure u backup 1st all the apps and also ur contact numbers,sms and such) if ur iphone is offically unlock then its an option to JailBreak it, if its locked, u have to JailBreak it, activate ur phone then valia!!! its all done..... u can follow the instruction on quickpwn or pwnage at this tread http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/790913 hope this help.... i try to restore. when launch itunes it says that, "The SIM card inserted in this iPhone does noy appear to be supported. Only compatible SIM cards from the supported Carrier may be used to activate iPhone. Please insert the SIM card that came with your iPhone or visit a supported Carrier's store to receive a replacement SIM card". should i remove the SIM card first? thanx gurus. |

Since 2 hours ago me trying to download and install openSSH via Cydia. Darn difficult to download this thing. Hi all. I just got my Iphone 2g (f/w 2.2) 2days ago and i encounter a small problem here:
The problem is the "slide to unlock" function. Whn i slide to unlock, most of the time it works but sometime dont. The slider doesnt move along with my finger as i touch d screen. So i pressed the sleep button and tried again. Normally after 2-3 attempts, i manage to slide to unlock. Have anyone encounter this issue b4? Is thr any solution for this? |

Hey there. Your problem is a known one for the 2G model. You can fix it by following these instructions: QUOTE Press the program button on the bottom of the device. Once the "slide to unlock" option appears, use your finger to slide the "arrow" object to the right, then immediately press the program button on the bottom of the device and the unlock keypad will appear. ...looks like the un-installation of hidepod was unsuccessful. Maybe you forgot to unlock before un-installing? I think you will need to do a restore but try this first... re-install hidepod then make sure you've got everything unlocked and uninstall again. |

There are a lot of apps now that you can purchase which will allow you to transfer and exchange files to/from PC's without having to install any extra application/driver on Windows. However, as far as I know, this is only posible via wi-fi. No USB solution exists. Some apps you can check (supports storage of all file formats and but only selected document formats viewable on the iPhone) via iTunes App Store (approx US$5 is the average price) : AirSharing (highly recommended), Files, Briefcase, Discover (Free App), Datacase...and many more. Google it.. |

er.. im not sure if this has been posted before or if any of you encountered, but my singapore unlocked iphone 3G (non-jailbreak) seems unable to make calls to singapore. never thought of that cause never had the intention to call any of my singaporean friends till yesterday. even though i keyed in the +65 it doesnt work.
suggestions? oh am using celcom currently by the way. |

a noob question:
whats the point of an iphone, if i cannot use it like a USB pendrive ? sometimes i want to bring files to the shop to print, sometimes i want to copy music or videos from lab PC. whats the point having a 16GB phone, but unable to utilize it. 16GB only for playing music videos and pictures is way too overated. i want it to function as a portable harddrive or a pendrive as well. |

If I upgrade my iPhone from 1.1.4 to 2.0 would all the contacts and everything lost?

iPhone Generation :2g Current Firmware :2.1 jailbreaked iTunes Version :8.0.2 Computer Platform :windows xp Jailbreaking software :Quickpwn Problem Encountered :cannot install Mplayer from cydia Steps Had Taken (list down) :installed 1st time,but 2nd time cannot Problem Screenshot (if any) : Other Info / Remark :when 1st time installed the mplayer,it crash when i press it's icon.tried few times after reboot fon also cannot use it.so i uninstall it using cydia,then i try wanna install it again but fail,when it start downloading for a while,it stoped and say complete wif nth installed. NEED PRO HELP HERE |
