same here, im new in audio stuff as well. im not really sure bout the position of the subwoofer. if people buy the big s530d sub, they'll put the speakers so that the large round cover faces them, and the small hole at the side is facing the side. but it seems lots of people with small subs are doing otherwise, the big cover facing side, and small hole facing them. that's how supermarket put them on display too, but maybe that's because they wanna save space. im not sure. im sure the old-timers over here have a better idea!

anyway, i used to like the m3300 more than the m3300sf... but now i kinda think the m3300sf looks prettier. i like the base of the satellites, are they real metal? or look like metal only? either way, they look great, and so does the glossy finish of the satellites! great if u hang them on the wall, but then the wires would show up and that's a bit of a drawback..

haha SF is nicer la, i top-up rm20 for this model, for the satellite, it's not metal, just look glossy, but i wonder there are satellites made from metal?? wouldn't it be heavy blush.gif

There is actually no rules that claim the woofer driver must facing which side, let say woofer of M3300,it oredi been design like that with the driver facing right side,so the sound was oredi tuned to give the best performance, some speaker comes with woofer that facing downward, directly to the floor,it is same as i say jus now,it had its own reason why it been design like that by the company to give u best sound posibble.
But since different ppl have different taste, the speaker final placement still depend on the end user's taste biggrin.gif Soon,U will found that even the placement of speaker different a bit only, the sound will be different biggrin.gif

Hehe thanks.

By the way, S530D owners here, what settings do you use? I realize there's no perfect setting, since it's all relative to our own ears, but what's the optimal setup in your opinion?

Currently I have my sub on the floor at my feet, and the tweeters on the bookshelf above me on either side. As a result, I have to stand further away from my desk before the sound has time to develop. But I find when I do stand further away, the sub seems a little lacking. I listen both at my desk and away from my desk so gotta compromise I guess.

What's your recommended settings for SW, Bas, and Tre?

Thanks in advance.

imo, the sub should be placed 1 to 1.5 meter away from u.. i thk that's the perfect distance for the sound to develop and reach u... as for the satelite, im still not sure.. haven found any most suitable distance should be placed so far.. since i dun have much space in my room, i just place it on my desk.. and the sound is ... rclxub.gif if i sit in front of the pc...

ah, yes, i forgot that word. "driver". come to think of it, you are right. some subs have downward facing drivers, some side, some front. but so far, havent seen one facing the back or the top. so i guess it's matter of personal opinion. try a few positions and find out which one is the best. i dont like the bass right in front of me cos i'll have headaches later.

If u listen away from ur table,u can crank the SUB volume louder.SUB volume and BASS are different thing ,crank the SUB volume wont resulted in heavy bass, jus louder tha volume of the sub incase u sit too far from the speaker.Recomended setting ....it is best u adjust to suit ur ears and type of song,i recomend u dun crank the BASS too much biggrin.gif

Both left and right satelites are recomended to place at least 1.5 meter frm each other if condition allowed, depend on the power of the spekaer, low power (less than 10 watt ) speaker can ignore this biggrin.gif
