I'm trying to find for a set of 2.1 speakers for my room. Will use it mostly for playing music i guess. I also do watch series and anime using it. I initially i set a budget of RM300 for a set of speakers but after reading how "epicly awesome" C3 is i'm tempted to purchase that instead.

As for the types of music i listen to, i would say Blues, Jazz, Classic Rock and Alternative Rock, stuff ranging from Ray Charles and BB King to White Stripes and Radiohead. What's your take on this? Do you think it's worth getting C3 or should i just stick to E3100/M3300? Anyway if i were to get any of these i will most likely not get a sound card, going to stick to the stock sound card.
*
I'd say get c3 just in case you planned to buy a soundcard tongue.gif
e3100 power output still can't beat the higher end c3
better to have more than not enough
so no need to force your speaker to do what they can't do
furthermore c3 got 8" sub like what nismo91 says 5" sub is physically limited so can't play loud when needed compared to the 8" on c3

ohya, get the R501 like nismo91 did. It's old but kinda good too

I think getting a 5.1 would be quite troublesome, I'll have to find space for the other two speakers. I think i'll stick to a 2.1. There's a demo shop for edifier speakers in lowyat right? I think I'll go check that place out before i go purchase.

as far as i can tell they basically replace the satellites with the superior one. regarding component inside they should be identical, at least the picture says. check out both links below:

S330, second hand unit though, reporting in smile.gif
pairing with on-board ALC1200 sound chip, any idea which budget sound card will make the speaker shines? or the ALC1200 is enough?

X-Fi Extreme Music is selling at garage sales music and audio section for rm180...that's the best you can get for low budget.

Dont get audigy or the SB Live series, wont make much of a difference

by midrange what do you mean?and i dont really understand the brightness in audio talk.hehehe.it seems like those 2 are my option for now.im just concerned that, since the price almost the same..r501 have more satelite..then the quality shud be lesser since the cost more to have 5 satetlite.lol.

the R501 is cheap because it is a no-frills system. remember it only have on-off switch it doesnt have any button, all relies on remote, which is good for ppl like me who never need headphone jack or volume knob. S330 is based on S series, but i dont find it good. the subwoofer is muddy when knob is set at max. the only good thing is the satellites that is bright, means can hear clearly.

the r501 has more midrange which covers most of the human sound and some instruments, which makes it sounds "full", not dry. nevertheless the R501 is not plenty with midrange, but for 400 price its an excellent 5.1 system. no doubt.

Bright: High-frequency emphasis. Harmonics are strong relative to fundamentals.

Agreed, S330 is bright and slightly muddy. The location of the woofer and material around the woofer (wooden floor, wooden table etc) will determine it's sound, muddy or tight or thick or low. The problem is there is no treble control for the satellites, so you cant really "match" the sats and woofer when the bass is too boomy or light etc...

Went audition kao kao di, planning to get one of them soon ; )

i believe u cannot tune up S330 to loud volume because that's the capability of this model, u will get a very bright and annoying sound. But for music enjoying, u won't even need to crank up the volume to that(high) level, that's another story if you a freaking bass head that need loud volume part with ur life whole night long... laugh.gif So treble control is quite unnecessary.
