cheap and easy to get it is not the matter..just think before u release it..if it native, better to release it,but if it foreign species, better to give it to someone..u already know how the foreign species can affect our ecosystem..maybe it look simple for us..i still makan nasik even i release RES into the river, but we dont know how many native species got affected by their presence?being an animal lover is not just loving animal in our captivity, but for all, especially for those still in their natural habitat..if we dont care about it,who else?sorry for my broken english.
Correct, one thing to take note. Even if they are local species, releasing them on man made lake like bukit jalil is not an option. It will encourage more ppl to release them there without knowing the fate of the animals later. Do they get enough food ? Can they survive with 1000+ of them in 1 small lake ?
This is something that even ppl in the animal profession dont really see the core problem, some even told me this "
Actually I'm thinking where is the right place to release, I don't want the turtle to be confined, I hope to give back the freedom it should enjoys."
I wonder what confined defines to him, does it mean "trapped" alone in a luxury toyogo box or trapped "freedomly" with thousands of them in 1 lake ? To see it in a simplest and easiest way, we take food availability and feeding ratio and put aside other influencing factor aside first. Under the care of the owner(assuming that he is responsible enough the take care of the said specimen), the specimen would get enough food constantly throughout the per week or should i take per month ? Overfeeding is another problem but at least the food supply were always there at least in my opinion.
Another one sounds like this "
Releasing them to the lake, any consequences? " What does freedom defines to you ? Lake ? Big space yet not their native habitat ? Trapped in a man made lake with thousands of others, waiting for ppl to throw pellets at them ? This kind of trend is getting worst as more and more ppl releasing their "overgrown" animals to the lake to give them "more freedom". Duh
I might be wrong, as a human i make mistakes too. So take it as a pinch of salt. No hard feelings.
