hello to all cat lover,
I have one male adult cat (mix persian).
Due to my profession, i need to travel outstation (JB) every month (Normally stay 1 week at JB).
My question is, it is okay i bring my cat travel with me?
Actually i have a cousin in JB, normally i put my cat at his house at day one and take back when i back to KL. (i stay at hotel during the trip, so is impossible to put my cat at hotel right?)
i've done this few time already. But my concern is will this affect my cat's health in future? (eg: travel alot, always change living environment... ) do u think he can take it?

The reason why i bring him together with me at every trip because currently i stay at my own, no one can feed him and clean his little box. Someone suggest me to put at vet's hostel, but there are costly. ( Imagine i traveling a week, about RM30/night X 7 days, already cost me RM210)

Please give some comment or advise.
Appreciate your reply. smile.gif

Recently my cat no appetite to eat.
Previously i gave him half bowl's cat food (Blackwood) and he manage to finish it in 15 minutes time. But during this 10 days i even gave him 1/4 bowl he also can't finish it.
I just wonder what happen to him? But he still active and playful, no problem for his digestion also. (Because i almost clean his "CAKE" everyday) tongue.gif
My friend told me maybe he want go out to find girl friend. (Anywhere he is 1 years old male, indoor cat). That's why he no mood to eat. I just wonder is that true?
Else what happen will cause him like this and what solution can i do? Or i just too sensitive? sweat.gif

Yes. He haven neuter yet. But plan to neuter him in Jan09.
He haven making loud noise yet. So far he just no mood eating at this moment.
Actually from the beginning i start feed him Royal Canin. Then i change to Blackwood at this November08 till now. Why i change his food because some of my fren told me that Blackwood food will NOT produce smelling "cake" after digest from your pet if compare with others brand cat's food. Honestly when i using RC, it's really smelling especially when you not clean it in 2 hours time. That's why i try to switch it. (Actually is true wow.. using blackwood now, the smelling cut down alots. But do not know ur guys agree or not la... tongue.gif ) But one thing i need to mention is when feed RC, he love and eat alots. When feed blackwood, he eat less and not really fancy it.

Anyone using blackwood before? what is your pet respond? Please give some comment.

But i do not know whether is i change the food cause him no mood eat or have other reason.
If yes, then might have to change back RC liao.. or others brands lol... haven try others brands yet.. if i want to change, any recommended? laugh.gif

Check out this blog = trimming-your-cats-claws

i dont use any tools, all the cat nail clipper i bought spoiled easily.

i end up using human nail clipper... but use it different way, normally on human u use up/down (mother thumbnail on top right), but for cat nail, u make it side way, left/right.. not sure u understand or not  laugh.gif

Yes. Understand what you say.
Thanks.

Hi elf,
yes agree out there not much cats like Blackwood.
But so far my cat still like to eat. So would not change others brands at this moment.
If u remember me i had told u my cat previously was taken RC, then i change it to Blackwood till now. smile.gif
Actually recently most of the pet shop out of stock for Blackwood adult cat food.
I was thinking whether wanna change back to RC. Because like u say, feed kitten food to adult cat is not good for their health. I was concern this issue. hmm.gif
But another issue is worry me that RC might cause the "cake" very smelly. My housemate sure will scold me sweat.gif
so now very confuse... doh.gif

anyway if your cat is OK with blackwood then continue it. else you have other option too right. iams, science plan, what else...

which petshop u normally visit?
*
Most of the time i go to pet safari at ikano.
Their stuff's price is quite reasonable.
But for blackwood adult cat food, i had found more than 10 shops in PJ area, all sold out, only left kitten pack. And they told me duno when the new stock will coming. ohmy.gif

ooww pet safari. yea i know they have blackwood.. but in small small kg right...

i used to buy Orijen 7kg from pet safari.

normally pet shop will say sold out, but actually they stop getting the supply eheheh...
*
yea. but what i saw those pet shop selling blackwood, they only left kitten pack (small, medium & big pack).
and only left adult (small) pack.
Erm, actually pet safari also selling big kg pack for all the cat food brand.
Just dun have the one i want.. blush.gif

Actually izit good always to change the cat food?
i read and heard that is not good for the cat. If the cat food not cause any issue to the cat, better stick to the one.
I just thinking if i still can't get the blackwood adult, then might have to change to others brand liao..

depends...

you can change, but remember to put it 50% (old food) -50% (new food) for first few days... unless your cat get used with 2 different product - u can change it immediately.

but then its better stick to what he/she likes. unless the cat do not like it anymore, then have no choice, have to change tongue.gif

i used to feed proformance for like  1 year already. but the shop i get my supplied stop taking this brand. so i change to science plan. which i think easy to get next time, most petshop selling RC, Iams, SP. i don't really fancy changing food. because by changing food, you don't know which food is the best for your cat. so stick to one, then u can see the different.
*
Ok. Get it.
one more thing. How can u tahan the smelly "cake" from ur cat? tongue.gif
seem blackwood is the only solution to cut down the smelly.
Any second choice/brand recommended so that its not smelly from the "cake"?

because i've spend my entire life living with this cute creatures.. my nose immune with the smell tongue.gif

but trust me, human stool is much more terrible LOL.

i think Iams, SP = blackwood...

i know rc ... the cake smell alot..

and even orijen/evo.. u get more fresh smell eheheh.
*
actually im ok with the smell, bcoz i just like u, my nose was immune with the smell already blush.gif
Just concern for my housemate only, some people really don't like the smell.
If u said Iams and SP = blackwood, then i might go for SP soon. Since blackwood not much pet shop carry this brand.
Every time sold out, stock not coming, etc.. trouble me la.. Better get one brand that most of the pet shop got selling..easy for me.. tired this few days looking for blackwood, until now still haven get it mad.gif

Oh ya, elf, do u know or recommend for vet clinic in PJ area? i want to send my male cat to do the castration.
How much the charge in PJ har? got below RM100 or not.. tongue.gif usually i go that vet in damansara they charge me RM150, quite expensie le..bcoz my fren told me in Johor vet only charge RM60.

ya we afraid people don't get comfortable with the smell. thats why i clean the litter box 3 times a day.

im not sure PJ.. that RM150 include 1 night stay? if yes, then reasonable... i get RM80 for male at seri kembangan... no one night stay.. only neuter then go home straight away.
*
wow... 3 times a day.. too frequent la bro... are you totally change the sand every time as well? or u just take out the "cake"?
for me, usually i just take out the "cake", and tambah the sand a bit. Then every weekend only change the whole sand.
i think very costly to buy the sand pack le.. If every time have to change the whole sand from the little box..
usually how many sand pack (10kg) u use for 1 adult cat?
for me 10kg sand pack can use about a month.

yes. Included 1 night stay. erm... izit necessary let the cat stay over nite after castra? hmm.gif
what is pro & con?

Hi, just check from the vet. The price RM150 not for over nite. I think mahal la..
do u need to buy the collar to prevent he lick the surgery part? and madicine fee?
Actually the price is not included all the things/accessory right?
then means end up u have to pay about RM200++ for surgery castration..
wah... not cheap also....

Hi elf,two weeks ago just send my male cat neuter. now he is fully recover. But after neuter, he pee a lot. He also become like to drink a lot of water. Last time (before neuter)he pee twice a day, and fully pee. Now he keep on pee a bit, then walk away, then he pee again, so the whole litter box become full and dirty.

Then suddenly during this two day he pee around my house. Do you know why? I need advise on what to do. His pee is yellowish green colour. He also got shit one time when he pee around the house.

I did change his cat biscuit from BlackWood to IAMS before neuter. I thought he is sick, but he is very active and playful (doesn't look sick). and also can eat.

Didi you change the place of litter box? and change the litter type?

If YES, put it back to original place before neuter.
If NO, you seriously need a vet visit. Urine problem at any location beside the litter box is a sign of problem. there is something bugging him.

Drinking alot of water can be a problem too. The most common one is KIDNEY problem, or failure of the kidney or kidney shutdown. Another problem is diabetics.

Some believe, during the neuter process... bacteria and disease get into the cats.

Some believe, that is normal after neuter process.. my male cats act that way too.. they drink drink and pee pee.. but they drink as usual. but they did not pee at all places... so your cat is 2 in 1, more pee and pee everywhere.

You need a vet, they can do check up on the blood to make sure if that problem occur.

Food change normally will show sign of soft/wet poo.
*
yes. I put him inside the cage quarantine for 12days after neuter. I put his litter box inside the cage as well. Two day ago i just release him and put back the litter box to original place(before neuter). But he act weird as i mention at last message.
From what u mention few possibility there, i guess either is litter box problem, else might be bacteria infection during neuter.
Let me observe him for another day again, if the problem still occur, then i think need to bring him to vet. Thanks for your advise elf...

Hi elf, how are you? I was busy recently, so never update my cat's status.
Ya, that day have mention about my cat problem (he pee around my house).
Actually after that day he become normal already. rclxms.gif
Luckily he is not sick, so no need vet. biggrin.gif
So thanks for your advise elf.... icon_rolleyes.gif

Beside, what brand's sand that u recommend so that can reduce my cat's litter smelly?
I'm using Trustie brand quite some time. It's normal sand only.
Just curious some other brands mention their sand can reduce the smelly, but never try out. Because was thinking maybe just their marketing tag only.
Anywhere, can u recommend me if u knew any sand that really can reduce the smelly?

reduce you can try litter clay sand with essence .. fussie cat litter and katty cat litter. (check out above post)

or you can buy this commercial product a powder for litter clay (you pour that powder with essence into the litter).

if you don't like clay type of litter, then you can go for OKO Plus.
*
Using clay sand? Someone told me that is not good for cats... coz it will stick to the nail.. and carry all around ur house... sweat.gif
But i haven use it before, so i was thinking maybe some cats are suitable to use it.
Nevermind, i will take ur advise and try the fussie / katty cat litter 1st. And tell u my feedback.
Thanks ya. biggrin.gif

Hi elf, how are you?Hope you are doing well smile.gif
It's me again. tongue.gif Recently my cat got flea around his head. (not much, manage catch & kill some flea at his head). The things is moving faster, quite hard to catch it. But i just wonder would this flea breed eggs at my cat's body? I have use cat's shampoo to bath my cat one week once. (forgot the name, anywhere previously get from vet, vet said this shampoo can act like normal shampoo and prevent flea, but hard to killing fleas).
Actually there have how many type of flea? I'm not sure my cat's flea is which type, so need you advise how to kill this flea?Anywhere my cat is indoor cat, he is the only one inside the house. Just curios how can he get this thing... rclxub.gif
Are the house dusty or not clean can make the flea alive inside my house? coz my cat very lovely to go and search the dusty area.
