Eh, just curious.
This USD 400 discount, when used on this:
http://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np2096-custom...?wconfigure=yes

Cash discounted price:
USD 874.94

will become

USD 474.94
?
*
All discounts are already added into the price list. I think they reduced the price of RAM's , HDD and Optical drives.

corad, did you purchase it thru credit card or bank transfer?

Plus what are the shipping charges like? Does malaysia tax electronic goods which you import from other countries?

Coz i'm in singapore and im interested in getting the sager from xoticpc, unfortunately they dont do direct shipping to countries outside of america and canada and they dont accept non-american credit cards.
*
Bank transfer. They do international shipping anywhere for a flat fee for USD223. laugh.gif

GPS feature for extra anti-theft protection (thief detector)?

Ouch US223 just for shipping charges. If do bank transfer get additional discount or no since the config i did at their website adds up to USD 1736. If add the shipping charges close 2 USD 2k which is abit off my budget, plus i dont get any tech support if it spoils.
*
the USD 223 will get a 3% reduction as well if you pay by bank transfer. For me, this laptop was still cheaper than anything else in the market with the same specs and IMHO it's build quality is superior as well icon_rolleyes.gif

people are speculating that the dollar will dip within these few months tongue.gif

Im still wondering about the build quality.

How good is it? Is it like Dell's one where the plastic are soft and flimsy or similar to HP's one,the plastic are stiffer, more rigid and overall feels better build quality.

Im targeting this brand for my next laptop.Somewhere next year or beyond and i want some thing powerful.Really powerful. brows.gif

One more question, does Sager have support in Australia?
*
only the bottom cover is plastic while the rest of the surfaces is aluminium. thumbup.gif Yes, even better than HP or Toshiba smile.gif

if you're going to be in Aust, i suggest you find a clevo retailer over there.(they are the ppl who supply Sager) then you'll have local warranty and wont hv to pay such a hefty price for shipping.

Did some research at Notebookreview awhile ago and I too purchased a NP8660 through Xotic PC and just got it shipped. While waiting, I wander around the net to see if any Malaysian bought it and got bump into your thread.

Its nice to see another Sager/Clevo user in Malaysia. My specifications are as the following;

15.4" WSXGA+, IntelĀ® P9500, nVidia GeForce 9800M GTS 512MB, 4GB DDR3 RAM, 320GB 7200RPM HDD and normal DVD drive.

Paid for $1,980.74, picked the USPS shipping method without tracking number as it will cost me a good solid $2,093.26 with tracking number.
*
rclxm9.gif rclxm9.gif hope to see your thoughts on this laptop soon thumbup.gif xoticpc usally notifies you 12 hours after your order has shipped . I got my laptop before the email was even sent out ( i had mine shipped to my UK address) hence the faster shipping tongue.gif

Hey corad. Just wondering, how would one go about obtaining the 7% student discount you mentioned from XoticPC? There doesn't seem to be any information on the website itself. Maybe I'm blind lol, but do you think you could enlighten me? Cheers haha. =p

well they seem to have redrawn it for now sad.gif
and let me clarify : student discount = for university students only. It helps if your uni is known in the states smile.gif

Who do i need to contact if i want to get it in Australia?

thats a tough question since the prices of OEM laptops aren't regulated. from what i've seen xoticpc is still the cheapest. You'll have to check out clevo's wiki page and see which of their distributors in aust have it smile.gif

QUOTE(N1-C @ Dec 26 2008, 09:33 AM)
Guess I'll update a little bit.

Just got my machine. It was shipped last Friday and arrived this morning, took around 4 business days to arrive. Pretty impressive I'll say as I live in Labuan ATM (An island that not every Malaysian know lol and I'm really risking the notebook to be stolen as it require plenty of transit in order to arrive at my place).

Pretty much everything is the same with corad's 8660 so I'll not mention them.

But I must say, this.notebook.is.rock.solid in term of built quality.

The design is overall business like, nice clean and professional look with its brushed aluminium surface. Bring up front to do presentation and everyone will be wondering what the heck is the brand of this laptop.

No flashy light(s) (Except for the power button) and no freaking touch sensitive button(s) (All my previous notebook have them and for some reason, I hate it, always accidentally touch them). Play/Pause button is being re-allocated to Fn+~.

Another few things to praise is the disc drive is located at the left, which mean it will not bump into your mouse when its eject. With the disc drive at the left, naturally the HDD is located at the right, which also mean when you game, your left hand will not feel the heat at the palm rest.

As for the con, the.webcam.is.rubbish. However, I'm not a webcam user but I thought it will be a good reference for the other. The size of the power brick can be troublesome.

To sum up, I'm happy with this machine. At 7.1lbs, it weight just same as my previous 15.4" notebook but pack with a bigger punch. So no complaint carrying it around!

Awesome !! laugh.gif rclxms.gif

i added an owners list to the 2nd post smile.gif great to hear it arrived without problems biggrin.gif

QUOTE(Ashikune @ Dec 29 2008, 02:22 AM)
Haha been meaning to ask if you had received your laptop. Good to know it arrived so promptly. I just placed an order for an NP8660(similar specs to yours), all the while worrying that something would go dreadfully wrong during shipping. Definitely reassuring to hear from you tongue.gif. Quick question though - who actually physically delivered the package to your address? Was wondering as the $223 shipping option that I chose means that the US Postal Service will be responsible for shipping. As they aren't a specialist shipping and logistics firm like Fed Ex or UPS, I'm kinda afraid that when the laptop reaches our shores the Pos Malaysia dudes will (mis)handle it lol. Please enlighten me! notworthy.gif
*
i'm guessing your local courier company ? whichever has the best service to your area. Mine was delivered via DHL. I'm not in M'sia, but it should be the same smile.gif

Hey guys, I'm interested in the NP8660.

But I'm confused, does xoticpc ship internationally ?

If it does, how are the payment methods ?

How long does it take from the day u place your order and the product comes to your doorstep ?
*
Yes they ship internationally. USD 223 standard rate with tracking.
there is a cheaper option but that dosent come with tracking. Your hair can turn grey with worry waiting for it to come that way.

QUOTE(Enigmare @ Jan 7 2009, 11:54 AM)
He did state in his first post that it took 3 business days to ship right? Lawl.. Anyway, 6.1k for this is great value for money! The design doesn't suit my tastes though... How's the build quality of this thing? It seems metallic on the outside, but what matters is the feel of the keys...
*

Student prices for a Sager? You've got to be kidding? Does it apply for high school students only or what? And when's the period for that?
*
Keys are plastic. Abit hard for me but overall still comfortable.

student discounts are only available for university students. too bad they pulled this promotion not long after i bought mine.

clevo is an OEM manufacture. they ship barebone laptops (chasis/screen/graphic card) to vendors such as Sager, Falcon Northwest, Rock , Kolbalt Komputers etc to be sold off to consumers with addition components (RAM, HDD, Optical driver etc)

i like this quote from notebookreview.com rclxms.gif

QUOTE
Without a doubt, the NP8660 is an awesome all-around performer. This 15.4-inch gaming notebook is the fastest in its class for gaming performance, and is faster than many 17-inch gaming notebooks. I give the NP8660 my full recommendation for gamers looking for a suitable machine.
