Stock in by early Feb, most configurations out by mid Feb.Not only Mucro, all "Clevo" vendors will get the stock by early Feb. I heard there could be further delay, especially the 8170. It sells like hot cakes. The rush job bit seemed expensive so I guess I'll be waiting a while! |

The factory is shipping each week but not very many. This is how it is many times with new technology unfortunately. Delays are common. I check each day and we will do our very best on getting these orders out. The anxious minds await the arrival of the beast... The delays may pose a problem with me leaving the country mid Feb haha. |

Did you get the express or overnight postage? If not, it's unlikely to reach you by mid-Feb. |

For Sager/Clevo users, may I know what's the main reason you go with barebone laptop?
Price/performance? Future upgrade ability? Cuz personally think that future upgrade ability almost nil due to fact almost newer cpu from intel using different socket. Maybe GTX460/485 MXM slot and cooling system compatible with future card. Initially thinking of buying NP8150 but now thinking of spending half the money on midrange gaming laptop and spend another half for a new laptop in future |

QUOTE(toughnut @ Jan 26 2011, 09:39 PM) For Sager/Clevo users, may I know what's the main reason you go with barebone laptop? Mucro's Sager with i7-2630QM & GTX460 cost lower than MSI. Price is reasonable. Price/performance? Future upgrade ability? Cuz personally think that future upgrade ability almost nil due to fact almost newer cpu from intel using different socket. Maybe GTX460/485 MXM slot and cooling system compatible with future card. Initially thinking of buying NP8150 but now thinking of spending half the money on midrange gaming laptop and spend another half for a new laptop in future I'm not looking into future upgradability (as I think Ivy bridge will have different socket then). The main reason I picked Sager because it offered what I wanted where other brands didn't (at this moment). For instance, I'm looking for an i7-quad with 1600MHz DDR3 because I have 1600MHz ready ram modules. And GTX485 seems an interesting product. It delivers the performance of SLI without the SLI scaling bottleneck. Games that don't support/have least support for SLI will fly on GTX485. Other brands do not offer these at this moment. Clevo/Sager seems to offer the right product at the right time - therefore you can see orders are flooding in every day. General rule, you pay what you get. No rush, just spend on something you're comfortable with. This post has been edited by ALeUNe: Jan 27 2011, 12:02 AM |

QUOTE(toughnut @ Jan 26 2011, 09:39 PM) For Sager/Clevo users, may I know what's the main reason you go with barebone laptop? The look is one factor for me; I bring my Sager around often and I don't get people asking "OMG ALIENWARELOLOL Price/performance? Future upgrade ability? Cuz personally think that future upgrade ability almost nil due to fact almost newer cpu from intel using different socket. Maybe GTX460/485 MXM slot and cooling system compatible with future card. Initially thinking of buying NP8150 but now thinking of spending half the money on midrange gaming laptop and spend another half for a new laptop in future Price/performance, yes of course. Clevo works hard to achieve so much performance in their models with almost every feature you can think of right now in a gaming laptop (maybe some little lacking like the ever controversial backlit keys). This always comes in the best prices I could see offering them. The ease of upgradability comes with the ease of maintenance as well. The Clevos I seen has a very user-friendly layout inside, allowing users to simply dust off and clean, and change the required modules with just a screwdriver/pop. And from the inside you'll see why they're able to put the V12 engine in a notebook. The next upgrade would be in a year, as in CPU. So there is a probability that they will use a different socket as you said. But, as we stand here, Sandy Bridge is already a good investment, and I won't miss this opportunity to get my hands on one However saying the line above, my previous Sager - NP8690 had about 2 or 3 revisions, adding support for newer revisions, USB3 ports and newer processors (Intel's i7-x40QMs). So there might be a chance that the new models right now have these revisions as well in this year. What you said, also sounds reasonable...but I can't bear on waiting for something in one year's time haha. This post has been edited by This is a Lamp: Jan 27 2011, 06:32 AM |

QUOTE(zeff @ Jan 27 2011, 12:34 PM) heh. been reading your guys discussion. im already planning on getting a np8150 after i sell my macbook. From the reviews I've seen, it's not so heavy, one of the lightest in its category (so I was told). It's 6.83 lbs or 3.1 kg, with batteries. But I am 100% sure that the power adapter is HEAVY! The 120W adapter for my old Sager was like a brick, and the NP8150 has a 180W adapter.just asking, hows the weight? how heavy is np8150 If someone is going to steal your laptop, just throw the adapter in his face haha. QUOTE(zeff @ Jan 27 2011, 01:27 PM) how about battery life then? how long does it last with 1 charge, with usage like web browsing and wifi A user who got it earlier than most of us reported that he played Heroes of Newerth on battery, and it lasted about 2 hours. That's WHILE gaming! But that game doesn't require a lot of power to run anyway, but still a feat. For that reason and the many sales representatives of the Sager brands justify that it comes to about 2-3 hours on battery; an improvement over my abysmal 1 hour on battery, power saver mode. I've had the NP8660 & 8690 and they rarely leave the table because of the batt life. Using a asus eee whenever I need mobility |
