Its either me losing my mind or Eurocom does  biggrin.gif .

They now offer up to QX9300 for the Sager NP8660 at a whopping $1035 (From the base CPU T5900).

Link.

No word on official support yet, maybe Eurocom put in their own custom heat sink? I doubt they will sell notebook that will burn a hole in them  laugh.gif .

interesting, i wonder what it would look like it you don't buy the finger print reader. tongue.gif

also their default wifi chip is the old module offered on the centrino. so say you bought say a P9500 would they have to throw in the wifi module and bluetooth for free ? anybody want to try ? laugh.gif

does your lappie get hot Bankster ? blush.gif

yea .. lol . i'm trying to get xoticpc to unblock my affiliate acc. havent been able to login after the email they sent.

i wasn't aware of any Sager retailers in SE Asia sweat.gif and if they were, wouldn't it be cheaper to get all their stuff from Clevo (in taiwan) instead of having the laptops shipped to the states and back again just to get a brand ?

if s'pore imposes GST, you could always have it shipped to malaysia and pick it up smile.gif

Hm... Do Singapore charge taxes for notebook? Try check with your local custom.

@Bankster

Yes... I'm referring to college of course, hard to imagine anything below than that need to carry notebook to school (With all the textbooks... You have to have plenty of muscle to kill lol )

Never own a 17" before and since its not much more heavier; ~0.5kg, might consider it on my next investment. Thanks for the reply.

QUOTE(Bankster @ Feb 10 2009, 02:20 PM)
Well in terms of temperature, it doesnt get too hot when gaming for about 1 hours and 25 minute... i always played my games at minimum of 3 hours and max 5 hours lolz... the notebook only feels WARM after 3 hours but since i got a cooler-pad, the zalman nc2000, i dont think under the notebook is hot.

Surfing the net didnt cause the notebook to become hot even after surfing for 3 hours or so... because the fans beneath it really does it job to cool the notebook. In fact i was kinda surprised the fans does the job really well!!!

i heard that the NP8860 got heat issues from the notebookreview forum, and if im not mistaken its because of the HDD? The owner who just bought the notebook right after it was released suffered the heat problem but the issue was solved maybe. There are even some members of that forum claims that it depends on which reseller you bought from.

Owner of Np8860 that bought from xoticpc didnt have any HDD heat issues! which is a great thing..

@N1-C; i would recommend getting a 17" only if you rarely travel with your notebook since it is quite heavy, and if you wanted a desktop replacement because the 17" is already a great size to be portable and also when you are gaming.
*
yeap, seems like xotipc are good in what they do smile.gif no complaints as long as my laptop dosent break down ..haha

so what is everyone playing now ? forgot i had crysis on my HDD , so might start that again tonight tongue.gif

Damn it N1-C. You already mentioned Eurocom and I Google it up. Wide selection of individual components for customisation. It may have a more powerful configuration at a lower price than my current laptop.

i think its because of the graphic card difference ?

but yea .. toshiba speaker are truely thumbup.gif for laptops

Hi corad! I really want to purchase a Sager laptop. The laptop i had in mind was a Sager NP8660. The price quoted after i customized the laptop was $2229.06. If i use your affiliate program to purchase this laptop how much cheaper can i bring the price down.
hi there !

Unfortunately, I can't give anymore discounts for xotipc... sorry man. acc been suspended sad.gif

but i still hope you'll go ahead with getting a sager. brilliant laptop for its price.

Oh I seee, if gaming then I understand.
But let's say..if I quit the game and try to surf net and do some simple word processing, will it generate loud cooling noise also?
*
the NP8660 has a dedicated hardware button that puts it into "silent mode". basically turns off the fan without affecting performance

i use this mode when sleeping. laptop gets abit warm when i wake up. but been doing this for 5months now, no probs yet smile.gif

if you decide to leave the fan on, I would say it makes as much noise as a dell

QUOTE(dveHetal3 @ Mar 10 2009, 10:40 PM)
Hi guys, I need ur opinion here.

I am interested in the NP5793 model here with Blue Ray drive somemore and its price tag but I kinda scare of 2 kind of things here.

1) Screen is matte display only instead of glossy despite having a 1900x1200 reso
2) Many review complaint that this is a loud laptop. At least louder than NP8660.
*
Matte displays looks dull-er, but are viewable in most conditions. (even outside smile.gif )
Macbooks use the glossy display, so you could use that and see which display suits you better. Or just get an external monitor if you're not happy with the one on the NP5793. tongue.gif

sound wise i'm not sure, but the np5793 does have 1 extra fan compared to the np8660

*
its USPS (United States Parcel Service), and USD 223 is with tracking. Recommended shipping method as you'll receive it within the week.

Also, upon request, xoticpc now offers discounts if you decide to shorten your warranty period smile.gif they havent replied with exact figures yet, but you could always try asking before buying.

Annnddd ... my little rebate is back too. but its down to a measly 1%.*haih, need to work my way back up* It is much simpler now though, xoticpc will instantly credit the amount from your total rclxms.gif

but the screen highest reso is only 1680X1050 which means this will be ur highest reso if u wanna play games.. but if I take 1920X1200, I can play at this reso which is better right?
*
yep, but you wont really see the difference on a 15/17" screen.

for comparison, Dell 24" Monitors use 1920x1200 native reso tongue.gif

yeap, tracking is provided under the USD223. Can track online but its not real time. Lags about a few hours.

QUOTE(dveHetal3 @ Mar 19 2009, 08:44 AM)
hi Corad,

I need ur advice here as I am quite keen on model NP8660.

Since your lappy is just a 15.4" but you opted for 1920X1200, would it be too small for text reading and internet browsing? Do you need to zoom everytime you surf net or word processing tasks? Why wouldn't you just go for 1680X1040 initially?
*
Its the NP8662 now smile.gif

In normal usage(email, word processing etc) everything will look the same. Dosent matter if its 1920x1200 or 1280x800

only when it comes to games, the edges will become slightly smoother. I choose that option because its really really troublesome to upgrade the monitor on your own tongue.gif

Monitor oso can be upgraded? How?
*
Nope, i'm not thinking of upgrading anything for the next few years. you can replace the monitor, but its just as hard buying one as fitting it on tongue.gif

@WildChai
its about 3/4 the size of a fruit box. like when you buy apples in bulk. think it was around 7Kg ?

staying in uni accommodation so din't keep the boxes

well 6 out of 7 forumers here got their sager from xoticpc smile.gif (check out the front page)

We all had to pay via a bank transfer. There's no tax or brokerage fee for bringing in laptops to Malaysia.

What's easy payment ?

and i think kirakun was referring to WyjSwmW, unless you're his dupe tongue.gif

1. Do they provide u with a receipt (printed or writing) as i need it to claim to my company later? Going to use a company laptop to fulfill my most inner desiress..!!! har har harrrrr...  drool.gif  .... gaming of course.

2. I heard that sager is upgradable later. It is true? It is hard to assemble it and upgrade it later?  doh.gif

3. What are the specs that i should concentrate on as i have limited budget as to get the full Oo mighty specs. My budget is around Rm8000 including the shipping.  hmm.gif

4. Should i get the Intel Turbo Memory as i will be using vista and maybe windows 7 later?  brows.gif

5. If i buy a ram here in Malaysia, it can fit in that sager right? Unless sager have a different out of space modul right? he hhe he...

6. Should I order now or later as it is a back order until end of march for Np5797 and ETA early april for Np8660.
Thanks guys...

May The Force Be With You...  bruce.gif
*
1. Yeap, the receipt comes with your laptop
2. See 1st post, to me it was as easy as upgrading a desktop smile.gif
3. get what you're happy with. no point getting a blueray drive if you don't have blue ray discs
5. just get the RAM from xoticpc, it'll be cheaper. Unless you can find 2 x 2GB DDR1333 laptop RAM for less than USD60

skipped 4 & 6 , only you can answer that tongue.gif
