You can bring your gears to audition at Wharfaudio show room, lol, easy, prepare as much songs as you can cool.gif

Based on my hearing experience, the Opus and Jade series sound a bit more sparkling than I want, Denton is the best in bookshelf craftsmanship I've seen, but can sound a bit congested and grainy on some tracks, so it's a bit of vintage mid bass bump which suit rock n roll very very good, vocal then depends source, though the Denton sound good on almost all genre. While for the new Diamond 122 or Diamond 200 series, it sound a bit more airy and bassy for large scale listening like orchestra, but could be a bit fatigue and less natural if listen to jazz, vocal and instrumental, also it depend gears you are using too, my setup is transparent full blown power amp here, so kinda reveal each of these speakers characteristics. Lastly, to my surprise, I found that I love to listen to a pair of Diamond 9.1, they sound very good in everthing, a word balanced can be used to describe the sound. Another near to high end crisp sound you can consider is the EVO Signature series, very dynamic and crisp, but I'm not sure the about fatigue level yet.

If you are choosing between these 2, go for the 200, better cabinet and finish, the 100 does not impress me in finish and build, one advice though, be careful of the bottom pcs of board, I accidentally cause a small crack on one corner of the bottom board when I put it down on some uneven floor

definitely you need something to power the speaker. AV receiver is one of it.

AV receiver may not be the cheapest to power up speakers...

if the major usage is music listening, a proper stereo amp is still better....

marantz and NAD entry levels are quite affordable....

not to mention entry level tubes from China.....

if you want to connect TV and use HDMI ARC feature, then an AVR would be a better choice.

so here's the thing..... AVR is also an amplifier, more feature and home theater intended

a stereo amplifier is more suitable for music purposes.

so either one works....

Really no specific brand. Any will do but don't go for denon and marantz as their distributor is gone from Malaysia.
