I don't think so. I don't have hard data to back me up, but iianm the 640 GB actually had a higher areal density than the 1 TB so it can read/write more quickly.

QUOTE(empirekhoo @ May 2 2009, 11:08 AM) Im using WD elements right now. ACtually there is no difference in the HDD inside, its just the casing. If you're willing to spend more for the casing then go ahead. The WD My Book Essential can stand like a book( im guessing you already know the design) and the WD Elements is like a normal external HDD but its big. Check out my blog if you want the pictures of the ElementsThis post has been edited by Kal-el: May 2 2009, 07:36 PM |

What is your harddisk model?
46-48c is hot, last time using Maxtor diamond plus 8 40gb, and maxtor fireball 3(Dead) 40gb, both also hooooot. near 50c even open the casing. now using Western Digital Caviair 2x 320GB and 500gb, not feel warm at all if touching it. |

QUOTE(Sphenix @ May 3 2009, 09:06 PM) It is consider abit high. My WD 160GB only 39C MAX. Never reach 40C under load. Depends what brand and model you have. I heard that most Seagate and Old Maxtor are hot as I some of them before. When your finger near to hdd, you can sense the heat lolz.Added on May 3, 2009, 9:24 pmBTW, my maxtor diamond plus 8 40gb still working till now. HOT and SWEAT This post has been edited by 5564321: May 3 2009, 09:24 PM |

there was three harddisks in the casing
80 Maxtor = 40C 120 WD = 35C (C: Drive) 250WD = 46C the 12CM fans is blow directly to 80 & 120 HDD but 250 just only 50% blowing only.... |

WD2500JS and WD2500KS do not have reliable temperature sensors. Some says they report 10 to 20 degrees Celcius more than actual.

I haven't heard of any solution for this problem so far. Might not even be possible because there is no known pattern for the misreported temperatures.
