She seems to show signs of pregnancy, being really active and cautious, but according to a lot of ppl,her tummy din seem to get obviously fat and round,so I ct be sure weder she's pregnant anymore but she's still attacking de male whenever I try to put dem back together

~and then few days back i realise that she's bleeding~its either from the vagina or anus,i ct be sure and now Im really worried~can sum1 pls kindly give me some information on this?thank you very much^^

My best advice to you. Bring to a vet asap instead of waiting here for people to advice since you are so worried.

@angel: What does she bite? The bars of her cage? This is normal. Hams like the taste of the metal. but it's poisonous in long term o.

And it's normal for hams to nibble on things to try if it's edible.

happy.gif as sophie says, try giving some chew toys. Doggie rawhide chew toys also can if your ham is a super chewer.

It chews almost everything, her sleep hose which is plastic, the water bottle stopper which is rubber but no metal though.
Chewtoys? Edible chewtoys or non edible ones?

Hey there! My first post in Lowyat. tongue.gif

I also had the same aituation as you did - at first they sleep together and had no problems, play with each other peacefully and normal routines in one cage but after a few weeks they start fighting and had to separate them into 2 cages. (One male and female)

Well from what I think is that at first they were still young kids (mine were couple of weeks old only) so they are used to sleeping together since they were born together. ( I also assume they are from the same breed) But when they got older and sexually mature, they will start you know getting sexually active and will find that they want to have sex so it is natural for them to fight if put in the same cage. My advice wud be to separate them - syrian hamsters are meant to live alone I think.

Being active and cautious is normal for female hamster - she will want to protect herself and her future cubs when she gives birth even when she isn't pregnant. Because next time if she does get pregnant and gives birth, the male hamster will attack/eat the cubs thats why they cannot be in the same cage after that.

Bleeding from the vagina is normal if she is sexually active. Its something like period for humans. As long as she did not get any cuts or bleeding from fighting. But I agree that its best you bring her to the vet to check in case its somethign else thats wrong.

Hope I helped you in this post! Do keep us updated with the growth of your hammies! laugh.gif

Actually female hammy don't bleed blood like female humans when they have their period/heat.

When the female hammy have heat, there will be an unpleasant odor from their privates and it's wet. But this odor will drive the male hammy crazy tongue.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif

Hi, I'm new here. I have 5 dwarf hamsters currently.

Any1 here can recommend any shop selling cheaper beddings ? The last time I went to Pet Lover Centre, Healthy Pet and Kaytee was sold more than RM40 ++ (from ard RM20) for 10-liter pack. I used these coz Healthy Pet is good for absorbing urine n Kaytee is very very good for odour control.

1 baby hammy is almost 5 mth old now, living with his mommy, are not eating much lately. Normally they will be so excited to grab the food fr the bowl. But now especially the baby hammy, he only take one or 2 piece. Like he has no appetite eventhough I changed to other mixed dried food n their favourite sunflower seeds. sad.gif Any1 can advise what food that any hammy will LOVE n eat without fail ? Which brand n where to buy it ?

Thank you.

I think the bedding is the same in any pet shop. Perhaps you can give Breeder Celect a go.

The dry smoothie can the both the bolus type and the liquid type. It depends on you.

I guess different hammy different taste. All my syrians like it liquid form more. So did my fat tail as he never like the frozen smoothie before.

Ahahaha. Odd_mochi, just normal tricks. Like stand, come, etc etc. Last time I got robo called Pastel who is very intelligent. he knows the difference between house, toilet, bowl, etc etc. So I just say he will run there. Syrians don't seem as intelligent o. So far can manage come nia.
