Mine WW also behave the same way. You can slowly catch him or put food on your palm and let them climb into ur hand slowly. They might bite you but is not that pain. I believe they just test whether your hand is food or not. tongue.gif Now both of then quite tame already but during night time only. If on the afternoon they behave more fiecely...

I wonder....

If it is possible for owners to vapourize the phenols by chucking the wood shavings into the oven, or the shavings will catch on fire?

If we vapourize all the phenols then it's just plain wood for the hamster isn't it?
*
Hmm... good idea for experiment. Maybe you wanna try and let us know the outcome? But, who can be sure the phenol can vaporized completely with that method? Who is willing to scarified an oven to do that, as if its really works, so then humans who are going to use that oven will be consuming the phenol or not? That's a very 'expensive' way of using cheap pine bedding. Better use better bedding or non pine bedding to avoid harm to animals or maybe humans. icon_rolleyes.gif

Answer is yes, most definitely. I dunno about RCs since they're bitey and I'm not interested in that breed. But robos are the hardest to tame so far. They're smaller, more timid, more cautious and easily freaked out.

How can I tame my hamster in such situation?, Hamster Lovers (Training)

Hello there all the hamster lovers.

I have some problem in taming one of my pair hamsters. Can someone give me some suggestions?

Here's the situation.

Initially, I bought a pair of male WW hamsters around 1month+ ago. However, they fight with each other. I did try to exchange for another hamster from the shop. I named them "big brother" and "little brother". Unfortunately, they still fight with each other. When I try to stop them from fighting everytime ( which happen like 2-3weeks ago ), the "big brother" hamster bite me. I have already separate them into two different cages awhile ago ( 2weeks+ back ). However, the "big brother" seems to be still quite unfriendly to me. Sometimes I try to clean his cage for him, he will try to bite my hand or make some little noise. The other "little brother" is perfectly fine... I can tame him eat on my hand. So I'm wondering any pro here can teach me some way to tame "big brother"?

Thanks for all the guides.

Cheers.

exactly like my case, in the end i just have to separate them.only to find out that the cage i bought was too small, its kinda to late, i think for them to rekindle their relationship. bout the wilder fella, it kinda takes time for mine to get used to being 'molest' by me laugh.gif in the end, he just walk onto my hand whenever i take him out to play

Of course the better option is to just get surely safe shavings, but what aobut those who cannot get or something.

Oh well, it was a good thought.

Elaine, if you see watery poop ideally should see a vet immediately since Hamsters die very quickly form it. either way, shivering is a bad sign, try to keep it warm by putting a towel over the cage and more tissue paper.

eh... then it's probably too much and your poor ham cannot digest... Cut back on vege. If you're that worried you can give a lil cranberry juice. No sugar and preservatives yar. wink.gif

Cranberry juice is to help hamster to easily pass bladder/kidney stone out of their system. Nothing to do with diarrhea hmm.gif hmm.gif hmm.gif

lol sorry wrong. cranberry = constipation. grape = diarrhea. notworthy.gif Sorry yar I blur blur.

@heloelaine: Means she's getting better lo. smile.gif If you hold back the veges till her poo poo ok back she'll be fine. Then slow slow introduce her to veges. too much vege at 1 shot can cause diarrhea. Has she always taken vege? Otherwise you have to give her in small amounts and slowly increase to see how much she consumes and acclimate her body to taking vege.

i just took her in for not long. i think the breeder didn't feed her with any vege b4 so she wasn't used to it. I will try to stop her consumption of vege for a week. Then slowly introduce her to vege.

My hammy is really a kuaci opener... >.< i just refilled her bowl of kuaci now left nothing inside...

some ppl do suggest 100plus, but IMO, its a NONO, cos it contain sugar. the main purpose of 100plus is energy, glucose can be a replacement smile.gif
