You can give grapes to hamsters but it must be seedless. So I don't recommend feeding raisins cuz most raisins still have a little seed in them. hmm.gif There are some sites who suggest hams with diarrhea should be given a bit of yogurt. And water be replaced by lukewarm chamomile tea.

But confirm important is: When your ham has diarrhea, you must hold back on the fresh food. Must keep the ham hydrated. Keep enclosure clean.

I think the reason why 100 plus was suggested is that it's isotonic and good for dehydration. Excel has less sugar mar. Isotonic also. And don't give a lot. A few drops at most lo. And more energy = better recovery rate. Hams become weak from diarrhea. No energy to eat = die lo.

I saw this other kind of bedding in the cat section. PeeWee. Is that good? Looks like some wood-based bedding

user posted image user posted image user posted image

IcedNyior,

We are also using the Frisian non-clumping cat litter also. I notice that when wet with pee, it will be muddy like into "clumps".

Even the Chinchin bathing sand we used for our Duprasi will also "clump" when he pees in it also.

So I think this is the natural "clumping" compared to the chemical "clumping" of clumping cat litter.

I sound so blur trying to explain... laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

can, but better go with toufu, n beans ( long bean, french beans, etc)

any animal's milk replacement will do, not human consumption milk.

Added on December 3, 2008, 5:41 pmIced,

this clump is not really clump, its just like sand get wet and will lump together. those clumping one will be hard like a tiny tone. can even use hand to pick up.

It's biting because it's growing teeth. Give it some thing chewy to bite like untreated wood or a chewtoy.

@angel: What does she bite? The bars of her cage? This is normal. Hams like the taste of the metal. but it's poisonous in long term o.

And it's normal for hams to nibble on things to try if it's edible.

happy.gif as sophie says, try giving some chew toys. Doggie rawhide chew toys also can if your ham is a super chewer.

1. That is a Roborovski hamster (Robos for short)
2. It depends on how old is your hamster is right now as the older the robos is the harder for him to accept new tank mates. Also get the same sex to be it's tank partner (eg. male & male either female & female). If not, you will get babies Robos in a few weeks time.
3. Make sure there is dry food in the tank 24/7. You get Prestige Hamster, Prestige Mini Hamster or Harry Hamster for their dry food. You also try fresh veges. There is a list of veges and fruits in the 1st page. Can consider Nezu's Smoothie also.
4. You should let him settle down for a few days in his new home 1st before trying to handle him. He's not tamed yet and robos are the hardest to tame but it will take time.
5. Light should be fine with them but not in direct sunlight.

You can research more on the internet. Here's a link below:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roborovski_hamster

You can also read the 1st page of this thread also to get started.

You should only get back the same breed. Don't mix as they will fight till 1 dies.

Robos are hyper active so it is normal.

Make sure you get a male. So that you won't have them breed and have babies.

Also clean the cage first before putting them together. So that it is neutral for both hammies.

2weeks + hammi should bite like crazy. and shouldn't bite human. unless they had never hadnel before.. then it may bite. but so far even in petshop that young hamster seldom bite.
