Then you need to provide more food for your mama hamster. Taking care of all her pups may be putting too much of a burden on her. Give more protein and fresh yar. smile.gif Don't worry she'll be fine. Just give her a long maternity break after her pups grow up.

@odd_mochi: use live mealworms. nothing beats the live ones. Fruits and vege we sure buy fresh. Got dried ones or pickled ones but they're not as good as fresh ma. And as XiaoDan say, live ones can gutload. Means your Toph can get protein from the mealie juices and also some minerals from the food you gutload the mealies with. 2 birds with one stone.

hmm would like you ask a question...2 questions actually tongue.gif

what noise would annoy/startle your hamster the most? HEheh...just wanna know..

second ques, it is very obvious that most people here said 2ft tank is the recommended house for syrian [mayb apart from others like zoozone etc].
but why 2ft tank? if becoz the base big, there are cages with big base too...

but then again the argument will be cages are not so good for hamsters that likes biting cage because the paint might cause impaction in the intestine... apart from this, got any other reason y ah?

eventhough both cage and tank can put toys in it....compared to a cage that has [for example] 2 storeys...tank like do not have much things for hamster to do [climb to 2nd floor etc]...

hehe i just wan2 be clear about this....who knows in future got ppl ask me...then i know exactly wat to explain wink.gif hoho...

tq smile.gif

by the way, today will be Toph's longest car ride...45mins-1hour...hahah...
kesian him...hopefully he'll be owhkay....smile.gif

Any loud noises around their surrounding will make them stress and frightened. Actually more people prefer 2 feet tank as it is easier to clean than cages. But you will have to spend more money for their accessories to be placed in the tank. Like you said, hamsters love to bite their cage's wire. They are actually trimming their teeth. You can prevent that by using tanks. Do not worry if your hamsters won't be able to trim their teeth by using tanks as you can always buy accessories specially made for trimming hamster's teeth and place them in your tank.

Besides that, hamsters love to dig. If you are using cage for your hamster, I'm sure that the bedding will definitely drop out everywhere through the cage gaps, which is quite troublesome laugh.gif Don't worry if they'll get bored in tanks, you can always place a wheel, something for them to chew, hamster's tunnel, house etc for them to play on. Hope this helps smile.gif

Actually when hammy bites the cage's wire is because of the salty taste from the rust and also when they are really bored. And the rust is poisonous to the hammy in long term consumption.

And you no need to spend money buying accessories for them to trim their teeth. You can give them toilet rolls or kitchen rolls. FOC some more.

You can also get them a piece of drift wood from those fish shops for really cheap and it will last very long.

Getting those multilevel cages is not only time consuming/hard to wash and it is more expensive than a 2 feet tank.

You can add Nezu's Protein Powder into the smoothie. We got a sample during the hamster gathering. Our syrians like it a lot with the smoothie as topping tongue.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif
