Actually it is made from Pine wood i think. What the best for the bedding? My robo always kick all the pine bedding out of the cage. Hehehe.. Notti robo.. tongue.gif
*
Pine is poisonous to hamsters. Please change to corncob, or recycle paper based beddings like breeder celect, Back 2 Nature, etc.

too heavy for robos to run. get a small silent wheel will be the best. u happy ur hammi happy smile.gif
if u can feel the bone. then the hammi is skinny. Toph is scare, can be Toph never have human contact until he meet u. so he will take some time to accept n gain trust from human. so it slowly he will be find, unless there are some genetic problem.  and remember this is not 1 day, 1 week or 1 mth to change. it can take u few mths.
*
genetic problem? hmm...wat kind of genetic problem?
wat i know from his last owner is...Toph's mother was pregnant to his batch not long after her 1st delivery...around 1month plus like dat..
it was accidental sweat.gif

does short gap between pregnancies affect the nature of the later pups? like Toph? sad.gif

and the ex-owner also told me though Toph can be handled well by her, he is the most 'naughty'/'active' one...

don't know what she meant by that...
is that why my Toph is so scared? hehe....i hope its not the gene...hopefully it's becoz he hasnt get use to the environment....uhuhu...

I think that the previous owner didn't handle Toph properly till he is scared of humans.

It takes time to tame and gain their trust. Do it slowly. They will eventually let you hold them and climb your hand.

umm.. i think better try not to clean the cage yet... if you really need to, change the beddings from the area away from the litter.
if need to pick up babies, rub spoon with the old bedding b4 u scoop them..

but if me, maybe i dont dare do that heheheh...

@Aeon: Don't change the bedding lor. I usually wait until their eyes open and they can run around to do it. I wouldn't wanna cause the mum to have unnecessary distress. This is why, when anticipating the delivery, I change the bedding a little close to it. smile.gif In the mean time, just be patient lor.

I usually try not to disturb the whole set. Actually why are you so eager to wash your ham's stuff? It smells very bad?

Oh, that wan no need to worry too much. In the wild, babies actually ingest some of mum's poo to get back some digestive bacteria that helps them break down food in their stomach.

Will your mama ham be stressed if you remove stuff from her cage? If not then should be ok lor but not so recommended. I will prefer to wait till they're about 2 weeks old.

Yesterday around lunch time , I went into the same old pet shop that I will always lurk around when I'm free. As usual , I'll browse through the shelf to see those new thing and I saw the gnawling stone aswell. Though of buying it but decided to get it later on and proceed to see those hamster. I'm very suprised that all the workers are doing their routines on changing bed , changing aquarium water , feeding and so on. As i said , I had proceeded myself on the hamster section , so I'm there to witness how they change the bed.

The fella who works there never hold them on their belly to lift them up , he just pull up their neck part and THROW it into a box. Yes , THROW it. For those who tends to bite , he use the Litter scoop and press at their center of the body and lift up to the glass and then pulling their neck and THROW into boxes aswell. Those hamster is yelling for help and I'm feeling helpless over there. sad.gif sad.gif
I really hope I got extra time and make a difference for those hamster.

Since I can't do anything about it , I decided to leave as it's time to go back and continue with my assignment . Just when I'm leaving the shop , I saw the boss there checking stocks on the shelf , no wonder all the workers suddenly so hardworking. doh.gif

Actually , should I tell the boss about it ? icon_question.gif
