Got a few questions.

1. How do you back up and save your Landmark or POI onto your PC for save keeping?
2. Can you transfer Landmark or POI saved in Nokia Maps to Garmin and vice versa?
3. Let's say I have China and Japan and Malaysia maps in Nokia Maps. Can I delete off just the China maps and leaving the other two intact?

1. For what software (Nokia Maps or Garmin)?
2. Never try it but I believe it can be done
3. I just leave Malaysia map inside my Nokia Maps and so far no problem running the software. But I never use it for navigation

50 for sure older than 60-lah. For 60 u need to mod abit in order fro the version switching from Chinese to English..try searching in malfreemaps, There is one thread showing how to do that..but very unstable...

hi friends,

i'm using nokia 5800, got GarminMobileXT installed. Garmin is running fine.
my doubt is when started Garmin 'always ask to enable Bluetooth'.
what i always do is i just enable it, & when finish serching i just cancel to connect, then only i can use/navigate gps (Garmin)

1) Is it possible to avoid the Enable Bluetooth Menu?
2) Is GarminMobile really need our bluetooth ON to activate our Build in GPS?

thanks guys...

IF you have original license from garmin.. this problem will not exist..

firstly.. how you get garmin software..??[from the website.??]

well usually garminxt come packaged with 2GB microSD.. USD 99 ..but now the production is stopped..

and there should be no problem..

this problem is existed if u have no license to use garmin navigation system..

anyway.. you need the license or use external GPS receiver[about RM 200-RM 400] that can be connected via bluetooth[thats why there are option to connect via bluetooth]...

if you have original licensed that is activated.. then.. there are two option to choose.. whether use Bluetooth GPS or use Attached GPS

go to Tools >> Settings >> System >> Remote GPS >> Disable >> choose option no.2 - Use attached GPS >> Enable it >> Done !

If you are using original software then you can checkout under Tools>Settings>General>Positioning>Positioning Methods

Untick the Bluetooth GPS option

Excuse me guys, do any of you know if a GPS bought in the US would come loaded with maps for Malaysia or perhaps would allow for the installation of Malaysian maps on the device?

Just started using garmin xt on n95. Noticed scrolling the maps is very jerky and slow.

Is it due to the map generation? Which options is best to select for faster map viewing and adding own POI?

Or is it due to garmin settings?

If u wanna fast scrolling try flagging only the "Exclude coloured Polygons (for less laggy)

Under map display, just choose custom polygon & POI or even Default.

On the recent maps release, there is also an option wth Large POI..that screen capture is for maps released weeks ago kua?

Anyway - less lagginess meaning lean maps..no colorful thingies

Thanks for feedback.

Just heard from friend that AGPS involves no charges. He proved it by taking out sim card and using phone agps. Same satellite detection time as with sim card in phone. Strange.

I think your friend is mistaken but taking the same time to detect satellite is possible for this reason. If you are standing at the same location and your phone had already detected satellite position, then proceed to take out the SIM card and look for satellite, you phone still have memory of where the satellite is. Hence immediate location of satellite again.

To prove cost involved in AGPS, do this. Check the Packet Data usage. I did and it's about 5KB per Assistance request.

Once you switch off the AGPS function by going to:

Setting>Phone>Application Sett>Positioning>positioning method> unflag the AGPS, You are good without any SIM liao unless certain model of the phone required SIM to activate the whole phonme! (Vivaz one of them!)

Anyway, by switching off, no data will be charged but acquiring satelite signal will be slow..sometime can be as long as 5 minutes!!
