i dont think this is the case for symbian.
The Xtra download feature in winmo particularly in samsung and asus pda's is a support feature for most qualcomm gps chips especially G1's.
hence data assembled is from a qualcomm server that supplies data on sattelite orbit patterns and a prediction of sattelite orbit.

i'm just go to menu -> tools - > log - > press right >> and you will see the data...

press each data to see the detail

figures. No wonder; can't find Samsungs gps+ download for Nokia s60

i have a problem turn on integrated gps on e71 after install garmin moobile xt
what ar?

it only show assisted gps when i enable, will it be charge?

ya ... it will be CHARGE , just unselect the Assited GPS !


Go To Menu -> Settings -> General -> Positioning -> Positioning Methods -> Assisted GPS (unselect it!)

download the garmin taiwan version. there's a link a few pages back in this thread.

if u very confident, just download the file and run the entire installation by following the instructions on the program.

another way, if u not confident about installing and overwrite ur original files.
u unzip the download file into a separate folder. DO NOT INSTALL INTO UR PHONE.
then inside the folder, look in 'voice' folder. copy the canton file into ur phone at

card memory>garmin>voice.

this way, u can get canton voice, but not chinese fonts.

do the said procedure in the OS, not in garmin.

This is how I do it.

1) Download voice file here (got 40 languages)

2) Extract the language that you want i.e. Cantonese__.vpm (I you don't see voice folder, just create it)

3) Rename Cantonese__.vpm to English_British_.vpm (please do not simply add or remove underscore or change the default filename in the rar folder)

4) Go to Garmin on your phone, select British English.

Done. You can add as many languages as you want!

I tried to put Cantonese__.vpm but NO sound. So I just rename it to a more common language then success. Maybe my GarminXT is English version can't support Chinese or Cantonese. After rename, everytime I select British English, Garmin will give direction in Cantonese.

but you need to buy for the license... to use it with your internal GPS[your phone]
the license is about RM 300++

or use it with external GPS receiver[bluetooth]..which is about RM 200++

Btw, i tried to disable the assistat gps and use the intergrated GPS ( I only have 2 options. One bluetooth and another one intergrated)

and when i select intergrated, it goes back to assisted GPS.

wierd.

in Nokia Nseries... go to Menu -> Tools >> Settings >> General >> positioning >> positioning methods >> only tick integrated GPS...

- the brand [ OVI and Garmin]

Garmin is well known brand for GPS...

in Malaysia there are two mapstht we can use.. it is MalfreeMaps and Malsing Maps..

i always use malfreempas.. and you can download the updates weekly from malfreempas.com

the map in garminXt also better than Ovi Maps..[except for 3D view that is in Ovi Maps]
