I've installed Garmin Mobile XT with the latest Malsingmaps and Malfreemaps successfully on N82. Want to ask if I want to stop using Malsingmaps and select Malfreemaps. How do I do that?

I go to
Manage my Data > Map sets > I see 2 maps. There is only 2 options to choose from (MapSource , Back). How to select only 1 map?

When I click on MapSource,
I see Malfreemaps v1.71, MFM POI v1.71, MFM Road POI v1.71, MSM MYSG v3.05, MSM Borneo 3.06, Malsingmaps All in one v3.06G [advan].

Have you guys install both MSM & MFM in GMobile XT?

I found something weird that both maps will cause conflict. My experience is I go to mapsets to disable MSM (untick the box), this will cause MFM to lose some roads, and fail to calculate my destination. Strangely, if I go E:\Garmin to rename MSM, then MFM will function very well.

Initially I thought that both maps can complement each other i.e when MSM lacks some roads, then MFM will show up but I was wrong.

Loves MFM custom POI on the map but the refresh rate is slower. But i heard MSM is more detail in Klang Valley. Which one to choose?

Is there any easier way to have both map without having to manually rename the map?

Wow, after renaming MSM to something else and leaving only MFM 1.72 available to GMobile XT. Today is the first time Garmin asks me to do a U-Turn while MSM just asks me to Turn Right, Turn Right. Besides custom POI, I find MFM polygon is also much better. I see some blue lake-shape polygons to show the lake near my house, whereas MSM is totally blank. MFM also shows the street name on which I'm driving.

The only complain is perhaps MFM is too sensitive. I got 5-6 announcement of 'recalculating' compared to 2-3 from MSM. Strange enough, the announcement was made when the car is stationery or stuck in the traffic or stop at the traffic light where there are no tall buildings around. Sometimes the map even show my car is in the reverse position and heading to the opposite direction. When I move the car again, 'recalculating' again and the map shows the right track. I can't blame it on the weather because this morning is a sunny bright day.

I'd like to contribute but still learning how. I'm not sure how accurate my N82 internal GPS can be or good enough to contribute. I see my track was way off the road after using raceChrono, literally driving on the green polygon in the map!!!

Actually, I've installed raceChrono to keep my track and export it to GPX file. Yesterday when i was still using MSM, I launched the file using Mapsource and dotted line was shown on the map. The track will be really off while Garmin announce 'recalculating'. I've recorded my track this morning (using MFM & raceChrono), tonight go back home i'm gonna see the GPX file again.... to see how bad the track was when Garmin was announcing 'recalculating'.

if u are having problems with the recalc in traffic very often (and annoyed), u can try changing the options of the recalc under settings, either to 'prompted' or 'off'
*
You mean Garmin will still do the recalc but won't say it out loud when I select 'off' or 'prompt'.

Let say if I really go the wrong way like missing a turn, will it say it out loud to guide me back to the right direction or just keep quite and let me go the wrong way?

cactus - off agps and use a re-rad. and buy a damn good one.

I did not turn on AGPS at all (save few cents....haha). Without AGPS still can connect quite fast, usually stand in the open area 30 seconds can lock satellite already.

Sorry what is re-rad???

Aiya, want to save money that's why i bought N82 (double as mp3 player, digital camera, GPS, ebook reader & phone).

how can i add cantonese or chinese voice into my garmin XT?
*
This is how I do it.

1) Download voice file here (got 40 languages)
http://www.filestube.com/1f416ab1f851da7f0...Voices-VPM.html
or
http://rapidshare.com/files/95980245/Garmin_Voices_VPM.rar

2) Extract the language that you want i.e. Cantonese__.vpm (I you don't see voice folder, just create it)

3) Rename Cantonese__.vpm to English_British_.vpm (please do not simply add or remove underscore or change the default filename in the rar folder)

4) Go to Garmin on your phone, select British English.

Done. You can add as many languages as you want!

I tried to put Cantonese__.vpm but NO sound. So I just rename it to a more common language then success. Maybe my GarminXT is English version can't support Chinese or Cantonese. After rename, everytime I select British English, Garmin will give direction in Cantonese.
