Sometimes it crashes and goes into recovery mode and i can restore it back using itunes and quickpwn to unlock it, back n forth [if prob occurs]. but tonight, smthing wrong with it .. it crashes and i cant restore it back using itunes like i normally do...error 1603 and 1604. now i don't know what to do. it's a 2G 8GB and i don't install any other applications. i just keep my iphone in stock cond except for autocorrect disabler. can anyone give me a hand here? thank you in advance running on a mac?

no differences i reckon. the only problem so far is the newer usb jacks which prevent the entry of DFU.

windows will also do the same trick, but IMHO is a little risky.
but i haven't encountered any funky mishaps so far...

right now i think im going to drain the battery first... then use winpwn to make custom ipws [downgrade to 2.0/0.1/0.2] choosing wipe all data and see where it goes ... then upgrade back to 2.1
if it doesnt work ... tomorrow .. mac ..

DaveGary,
Another question coz I forgot already. For a 3G iphone from NZ bought from Vodafone, 1st thing to do out of the box after you put in the sim card is to connect to Itunes for setup, rite? Sorry dude I did this before for my own 3g set but I forgot. Trying to help activate my friend's daughters' sets. Thanks

Did not have my lappie for itunes handy then so did not proceed. BTW this is a 3g 8gb iphone fresh out of a Voda store from Christchurch, NZ.

ha DFU mode? if its fresh out of the box, impossible u r getting one with DFU right? if its that's the case download the 2.2 software and restore then, its a officially unlock one so no damage done p/s do check the parts number to confirm whether its really from NZ or otherwise

Getting Started

|
Hanxz,
Yes if from NZ should be all ok. I got 2 sets 8G last week with no problem. Bought via vodafone web. Use latest Itune 8.02 on window. But I connect via US page. Not sure that can affect it ?
I upgrade to 2.2 no problem.
