Hello g3n0c|d3. Thanks for the help but actually i dun hv any probs with the firmware. The problem is frm QuickPwn 2.2 i cant open the file after i unzipped it which i dun understand why? I've tried downloading it frm various website including LYN page #1 but still the same results. I thought sumthin is wrong with my comp so i tried on other comp which runs wif XP (the previous was Vista) and it still says "Application has error" So rite nw i'm wondering is it because of my comp or is it the installer dat had cause the prob?

yes definitely pwnage have the upper hand in this in terms of stability and success rate.
quickpwn jailbreaks your phone while pwnage derives a completely new firmware from the latest firmware so that u will be preserving your baseband
that means even Locked 3G phones are able to enjoy 2.2, as by updating to 2.2 without pwnage for locked phones it's definitely a bye-bye situation currently

right click or for mac hold the option button and click on the right side bar of your ituens with the iphone label
there will be an option backup available.

I'm assuming based on your other question about the MSDict App in the app/game discussion thread that you want to know how to manually backup the files. Basically you have to use an iPhone directory browser (WinSCP+SSH, DiskAid, iFunBox, etc) and copy the files to your Mac/PC. Simply replace the files on your iPhone later with those saved files. I'm not sure which files you need to look for with the MSDict App but you can refer to the following (I have yet to update this section under MiPUG) for an idea on how to figure it out yourself assuming you know how to use an iPhone directory browser.

i have problem with my cydia after i just update my iphone to 2.2

Now, i can hardly download anything off it

I am currently using my iPhone in USA with AT&T and i-smartphone adapter on FW 2.1

I am gonna come back to Malaysia in a week. I know that by inserting the sim right away, I probably can get to use the iphone. But once plug into itunes, i will get error that the sim is not supported and I can't use itunes.



My question is, if i use quickpwn, does it activate and jb at the same time? Can I just activate?

I don't wanna delete all the stuff in my phone just to use Malaysia sim card.

if 2g just backup everything and then JB and activate it...

if ure using 3g iphone... then...
the only option is to use sim adapter....
there's no way of unlocking the iphone 3g yet...

The iPhone Dev-Team is working hard on the iPhone 3G unlock and expects to have it released a couple days after Christmas.

According to team member MuscleNerd the "Target date is a few days after Christmas "

At first the unlock will be released for the iPhone's with the 01.45.00 baseband. If time permits the Dev-Team will try to complete an unlock for the 02.11.07 baseband as well.

Right now for 02.11.07 we have some untested ideas. Ideally we'd have something solid by the end of next week, but if we don't then it would be a staged release, with 01.45.00 first out of the gate.

Here is a list of the iPhone firmware versions and their matching basebands...
- 2.0.0 Firmware & 01.45.00 Baseband
- 2.0.1 Firmware & 01.48.02 Baseband
- 2.0.2 Firmware & 02.08.01 Baseband
- 2.1.0 Firmware & 02.11.07 Baseband
- 2.2.0 Firmware & 02.28.00 Baseband

Those of you lucky enough to still be on 2.0.0 or the 01.45.00 baseband will be able to unlock first. If you are at 2.1 or used PwnageTool to update to 2.2 then you will have the 2.11.07 baseband. This will be the second baseband to receive an unlock.

Those on the 02.28.00 baseband will likely have to wait a while before an unlock is released so make sure you use a tutorial on our site to jailbreak and update rather then using iTunes directly.

then just slide ur sim card in. ure using smart adapter right? means it kindda unlock the sim card for u....

unless u want to upgrade it... but 2.2FW is not recommended for sim adapter user...

You guys should read my post again. I know my iphone will probably work using the adapter. The problem is, if i switch my sim card, my itunes will go crazy. It wont let me sync.

So, my main question is, can I activate only in Quickpwn or must activate and jailbreak at the same time?

having problem with my 2g iphone...previously was at FW 2.2...i try to reset everything...by selecting setting>general>reset>erase contents and setting...then i proceed...b4 proceed, it pop up an msg saying tis process might take bout 2 hrs...ok, then i proceed n leave it there...

after more than 3 hrs, i go bak...the screen stuck at apple icon...then continue in tis case...i try to unplug fr charger, press home+power button....screen dissapear n apple icon appear n continue stuck there...

i try to connect to itunes, no respond at all...my lappy doesnt detect tis device, same to itunes...i run itunes diagnostic, it appear iphone/ipod touch sync failed...a msg as below:
