Sure it's a nice card. But i think you can say that pretty often about computers. Most new generations can do what people have not seen before at a certain price... That's what people like me exist to do tongue.gif

I think it's more dependent on what the chipmakers want to do. We're at their mercy laugh.gif

But I'm mostly just looking at the progress made compared to the last-gen midrange. Same process, big progress.

I don't know this question looks silly or not, but I'm curious.
3850 256mb and 4670...which is better?

But I think is 4670. Just wanna ask.

Pretty sure the 4670 would win. The 4670 beats the 3850 512MB, so 256 would most likely get slaughtered.

Cause got a seller offer 3850 256mb with Rm200 only. So tempting. But I think I'll stick to 4670 since only Rm100 difference.

but u have to consider that certain games such as crysis and oblivion sucks at CF scaling, which means that in certain level of the the performance of CF is a lower than single card.
so the conclusion is single 4850 is better than 4670 CF coz it'll give u consistent performance in all games

Yep yep. Dual GPU solutions are not the greatest yet. All too often it depends on the driver rather than the actual power of the cards.

yup but sometimes the performance of CF is lower than single card, i experienced it when i played crysis and oblivion, where when i checked the gpu usage and it showed 30% for each cards rclxub.gif

when i play Crysis with 3870x2, it was fast. a lot faster than 9800GTX, so I'm assuming it does CF well enough.

unlike some games, the 3870x2 felt like the 9600GT, such as Frontlines : FOW.

Plus, sooner or later someone will start to use the new 1.2Ghz GDDR3 chips out there, another 20% boost (hello 9600GT!) and you can push it to even more I heard.
p/s: 4670 Crossfire Review. Nice punch, but still 4850's too cheap here. Good if you're planning for the future, though.

Couldnt agree anymore, That 4670 chip with a better memory speed do have a lot of potential. I am not surprise someone out there later on will put a better memory speed to get extra punch out of it.

AMD still manage to run this almost 80-90% of 3870 even with 128bit memory. That is something very good.
