You can always flash it back to regain the warranty brows.gif brows.gif .... I'm not sure how but it's possible I believe, I heard someone doing it by using 2 graphic cards(one for display, one for the reflash victim/broken card). Sp he managed to flash it back even if the graphic card doesn't work.

ATI 4830 PROS AND CONS:
PROS:
1. BEST VALUES OF $$ now..
2. reasonable good performance.
3. UVD 2.
4. best value card before the direct x 11.0 released.
5. reasonable overclocking capabilities.

CONS:
1. still consume a lot of power, but better than GT9800 counterpart.
2. still generate a lot of heat.
3. no direct X 11.0 native hardware supported.
4. overclocking might lead to instabilities due to a lot of heat generated.

MS said DX11 will support card that suppoer DX10

when other ocmpany came out with other design..the heat is not a problem

I believe that is software supported.. no native hardware supported..
as i believe that the shrink to 40 nm at March, 2009 will see a higher performance card which consume less energy.. or same energy that delivering more performance..

If new 5000 series consume same power as 4850 and performance double then I will change.

1 thing i learn from years of observation.......................
h/w will nvr b as powerful like rumors suggest b4 it is release.

lets look @ the latest example.
hd 4870 was rumor to beat 9800gx2 wit 1.4x the performance.
also, it is rumor 2 hav 1ghz clock speed. den rumor drop to 900.

eventually, 4870 launch @ 750mhz, doesn't kick 9800gx2 ass. but it is still a awesome card given the price.

guys...

Just wana share something here..

It is about the card selection for HTPC...
I have a HTPC at home and i have been trying all kinds of graphic card. At the moment i am using the latest card by ATI 4350 series...
This card for gaming, you can forget it... but for HTPC, the picture quality is really good... why.. i tell you why..

I have tried, :-
ASUS 7300GS, - Colour and quality picture Bad sad.gif
Galaxy 8600GT - Colour is ok, precision on the lines and writing is fine.. blush.gif
Asus EAH3650 Silent - Colour is nicer then the above 2, precision on the lines and writing same as 8600GT whistling.gif
Saphire 4870 - Colour and picture is good, but expensive and noisy... not good for HTPC hmm.gif
Asus EAH4350 Silent - Colour is really rich and natural, Precision is the best so far i have seen.. Quite and CHEAP as well... thumbup.gif

so my sharing if anybody want to build HTPC strictly for movies, pic and music, I will recommend EAH4350... really cool...
I was shock when i plug in and run the card.. shocking.gif i can even tell the difference with my naked eyes without comparing... even my GF who dont care about PC stuff can see the picture quality difference..
CHEAP AND QUIET most importantly... rclxms.gif

One happy man now..
rclxm9.gif

dont get me wrong.. i dont sell computer parts... just sharing... sweat.gif
