is this the end of the great CRT era?
*
CRT is already been buried in the HISTORY, since 2 years ago..
Now (september, 2008 onward) we are talking about HDMI, and hi - resolution display LCD, 22" and more..
and the future is all about DISPLAY PORT connection and more than 24" LCD, and full 1080P blue ray support with 16:9 aspect ratio.

46series i no comment; but i can say 4850 ref can use in 17inch crt with max 1280*1024 60refresh rate only coz...im using it.
*
sorry to say that.. the problem is with U CRT monitor, not display card.
That's the 17inch crt only can support the maximum resolutions of 1280*1024 - 60refresh rate

bro viper....don't be like that lah..plenty of crt users still around ---we also want to use the latest better cards.......cannot be need to change to lcd man....we all chop money  ?
*
I think it is the time that all the CRT user to change to the LCD monitor.
Wait for the BENQ E2200HD monitor and get 1.. U wont be regret...
after doing research of tones of LCD monitors over the internet..
I found that BENQ E2200HD is the best bargain..

Why use LCD monitor?
1. because you can stay long time at your computer without feeling much fatigues of your eyes.
2. good for health, as it emitting low radiations as compared to old CRT monitors.
3. good for health, as the CRT monitors radiation will kill a lot of blood cells.
4. energy saving, LCD monitor consume less energy than CRT monitor..
5. etc..

But you people will need to wait for while for waiting the BENQ E2200HD monitor to be released at least on the end of this year.
So, keep saving now.. but I know it is very hard to save as the global economy is slowing now at the moment..
Everyone is living hard now, including myself too..

The other solution is wait for ATI 4830 card (256bits memory bus)

Will ATI 4830 card will be a total 4670 killer??

Why you people dont wait for ATI 4830 card, since the memory bandwidth is 256 bits as compared to 128 bits 4670 counterpart?

the 1st thing is my consideration when i buy the graphic card will be:
1. HDMI port available. (if possible get a display port graphic card)
2. ultra fast graphic memory.
3. durable and solid built.
4. special cooling method.
5. price + performance combination.
that should be okay with the upcoming 256bits memory powered ATI 4830 card with decent cooling, HDMI port (if possible with display port) price around ~RM500

ultra fast? go for 4870 then o_O...GDRR5 biggrin.gif
*

look the the specs of the memory timing too... GDDR3 with good memory timing is fast enough, as long they are of 256bits of bandwidth.

no end debating on this leh..like that, u go buy a 4870x2 then  shakehead.gif

Added on October 2, 2008, 2:50 pmdon't think it works, from the looks of it..ur stock cooler will even work much better than this...u using gainward right? custom cooler should b more than enough wat..
*
4870x2 = high power consumption + expensive + a lot of heat!
better get a low power consumption + desirable performance 4830 card, next month!!

lower? 4670 then -.-...or not it's 4850 >_>"
*
4830 strike on the middle.
4830 performance is superior than 4670, and it is 256 bits memory bandwidth, 640 shader processor, based of RV770 LE chip, lower ppwer consumption overall as compared to 4850 cards.
4670 is of 128 bits memory bandwidth, 320 shader processors, based on RV730 chip.
They are of different class of graphic card!!

4830 card is for the performance mainstream, 4670 is only for mainstream.
4830 series of graphic cards are expected to debute later on this month (end of october, 2008)

ooo... hmmm 4830 and 4850 no difference in proccesing graphic??? lol then the 4870 x 2 in 30 inch lcd also can... lol... i think 24 inch big enough also.. lol..
*
4830 and 4850 comparisons:
PART I: SIMILARITIES
1. 55nm manufacturing process.
2. Direct X 10.1 support.
3. 256 bits memory support.
4. basic gpu architecture is basically the same.

PART II: DIFFERENCES
1. code name different: 4830 = RV770LE, 4850 = RV770 PRO
2. no. shader processor: 4830 = 640 shader processors, 4850 = 800 shader processors.
3. system power requirement: 4830 consumes less power than 4850.
4. heat generated: 4830 is cooler than his elder brother 4850.

So far is know that HD4830 have 640 stream processors instead of the HD4850 800 stream processors, but maybe the processor clock and memory will be cut down since it is different class compare HD4850, havent know yet must wait the official announce.  hmm.gif

The HD4830 still require the 6 pin 75 watt as the external power source, that's mean the power for the PCI-E (150watt) is not enough to support it. IMHO, if the price is RM500 or more, i will go for HD4850GS for more performance per value.  laugh.gif

ok let wait and see how.. drool.gif

Hi all,

Not trying to stop the flow of the topic but curious if anyone successfully run any brand 4670 with a normal RM 45-50 450 W PSU?

Cheers,

Alvin

It is not recommended to use an cheapo or so-called cap ayam psu due to its inconsistency of power supplied into the gc which might shorten the life of the gc. Get a better psu with at least a true power & higher efficiency.

brother, not for 4670 card!!

HD4850 and 4870 are quite power consuming in comparison to HD4670
unless u are into serious gaming, i would recommend that u take HD4670 instead

why dont wait for 4830??
