Wow the core clock is so high. Mine can clock to 800/1050 max. Higher get artifact.

well, now most Gigabyte gpu comes with zalman fan..since when it's noisy? the speed it runs is being set by the fan itself so it should b fine...I used it previously so i should noe ...anyway with so many choices,y don't go for Gainward (for now, i think it's the best air cooling gpu around )

need some info from sifu's here as i c in the ATI overdrive tool i can only OC my GPU max 790MHZ and the memory max 1100mhz does the new riva tuner allow me to oc higher? any other OC tools that u pro's here use to OC the 4870?

this happen to me too when using CCC 8.10. This issue didn't exist for 8.7.
When OCed to 800/1100 using ATI Tools, after running 3DMark06 it'll auto change to default clock @775/1000.

dats happen to me before with sure reach

my bios is flash to ASUS TOP. so default already 815/925
anyway, overclocking 4870 GPU pays more den OC memory coz 4870 already hav blazing fast ddr5, just the GPU clock bottleneck.
u can try ATI tools, Ati Tray Tools or edit the bios using RBE.
i do suggest people 2 use the ASUS TOP bios since it is OC @ 812/925 & @ the same time cooler & uses less power.

this catalyst 8.10 really impress me, not only increase performance on my 4850 , my x800gto now can play fifa2009 this games if not mistaken require sm3.0 card

Yes 8.10 really improve performance a lot.
