I'll be back to my hometown in Bentong, Pahang for CNY. Anyone knows if there's any 3G coverage there?

Also, how do I use my N82 + Celcom 3G to online on my laptop? If possible, without the use of PC Suite, it sucks. Sometimes it'll detect my phone, sometimes not.

bentong got celcom 3g coverage since 2nd quarter last year.. (HSDPA signal only available at town centre, while 3G signal available at the rest of the town and nearby area).

more info, visit http://myblog.qubixdesign.com/2008/11/17/h...gprs-coverages/

*what a nice co-incident, the example screenshot of the 3g map is actually showing bentong map lol laugh.gif

about the modem, i think you can try connect internet using BlueSoleil software.. where u can dial internet directly via bluetooth connection. (but your PC/laptop must have bluetooth device - either built in or external device)

BlueSoleil is a commercial software. Thanks for the map though, hope I can figure out how to connect in a week's time, then I can bring my lappy and online there. RM8 per day right? tongue.gif

I've followed a guide and set up a dial-up connection to make my N82 a modem. A few questions:
  • RM8 per day, from the moment I activate the service then expires exactly 24 hours later?
  • What's the speed?
  • After activating the RM8 per day, no matter how I connect to the internet it won't charge extra? I'm afraid going into the wrong mode then got charged per kb.

yup, can.. just visit any celcom branches and upgrade your sim.. rm5 charge apply for upgrading purpose (free if you're had being with celcom more than 1 year already).. your current UOX plan will become UOX 3G in account status.. all call/sms rates are still the same..

- yup, exactly 24hours after your request sucessful.. they will alert you 1 hour before its expired.
- the maximum speed is 384kbps (if you're in 3G coverages)
- make sure you received a notification sms saying that your request is succesfull.. but sometime they just activate it without any notification.. to be safe, just check your status by typing sms BROADBAND STATUS and send to 28882.

unfortunately cannot.. you may try to port out first (however, so far i didn't see anyone try this yet). this actually happen to some of frens too, they port to CEP50 because they didn't know that UOX is better..

dont get confuse.. it mean your credit wont expired till you're 26 years old..

1. its not 3g activated by default, you need to upgrade to 3g simcard first.. however, if you're porting from maxis/digi/umobile to UOX, you may request 3g simcard straight away..

2. no credit expired mean, you can use your available credit at anytime without worries about it will expired.. you can reload rm10 today, and keep it till next year for example but still can use.. it wont expired.. only expired after you're 26 years old.

* again, for those people who their credit still got normal validity.. you need to visit celcom branches, and verify your mykad, personal info, etc.. then only celcom will give you this special credit validity..

to be honest, its better to ask directly to centre, or the customer service. if its only branch, or blue cube, usually they are not informative enough to the actual and latest info about celcom..maybe they are just recently working there as part time job.. sometimes, they just talk with confidently(regardless its true or not), just to assure people to believe it sweat.gif ... this is opposely diiferent with the people at centre. thumbup.gif

so, its the validity which is expired on/after 26th bday. after that, ur number will use normal celcom plan, xpax perhaps.
off course the number wont expired..stupid promoter... doh.gif

same as above case...its better to go directly to centre smile.gif , since ur details will finally sent to the centre by the bluecube...

is it really (uox better than cep50)? i thought the rates is quite similar, but cep50 have that so-called free calls+ sms...

as comparison.. both are flat rates 15cents/minute call to all numbers, but cep50 have free calls to sublines..
both are 1cent/sms to celcom, but cep50 have free sms to sublines...
then, how come uox is better?

im using both CEP50 (as primary line) and UOX (as 2nd line)

UOX is better than CEP50 in term of:

- sms, CEP50 sms rates 12sen FLAT, while UOX sms rates 1sen on-net and 6sen off-net
- 8pax, CEP50 doesnt have 8pax, compare to UOX can enjoy special rates 10sen/min call and half-cent per sms to 8 favourite number
- comitment fee, CEP50 required you to use minimum rm50 everymonth, while no minimum usage for UOX users

however, CEP50 has advantages

- up to 30% discount on monthly bills (the call rates as low as 10.5sen/min FLAT - after consider discount)
- everyone can sign up (no maximum age)
- can sign up for supplementary line and enjoy free call/sms/mms/video call between supp line
