all these blackout and overheating problem remind me of 360 3ROD.

actually from wat i'm observing..it happens in XP..Not in vista though...maybe not optimized drivers?

well i switched my card to my friend's com... and no blackout so far... been 3 hrs of gaming... running on vista prem 32bit... i think xp got prob... =.=

already got my gainward 4850 in my 1st 6 years old rig... 4670 1 is budget 2nd rig to put in my hostel... XD that means i'm already on board.. without noticing...

Well, I cant believe Netraid offer such a good service. It is hard to find such a good distro nowadays. What else brand they carry. Next time buy from them again.

Do you try the 4850 in your intel rig at ur sugnature there? Can run smooth by using teh 450watt PSU? Thanks

yea lots of services they offer, next upgrade will probably be gainward again from me
i have a problem btw, sometimes i will get an error where the display driver atikmdag stops working and i get a short black screen, is this the blackout problem people are getting?

The blackout is actually the VPU crashing and then driver trying to reset it, if successful then display comes back... else will just hang there.

Lacus, my point is, why does my friend's 4850GS can last for 30minutes on the same test... mine can barely 2 minutes? Both are 4850GS, and both running on WinXP 32bit.

weird o_0...lol, hard to tell ya..since it's sorta hard to see the problem just by describing did u oc the card or something? barely 2 minutes? gaming or wat? specification of ur friend's pc? a lot of things to consider..

Same here, mine crashed after 2-3mins too. I wonder about that too. I will try to stress my graphic card with games too, but like I said i have only COD4 and Warcraft3 on my pc. Won't be able to try it till i get a few games like crysis and bioshock.

well i can now confirm that cat8.9 wont help with the blackouts, so i guess its confirmed that the card is at fault, somewhere (yeay for exchange!)

I can confirm that the blackout will happen on Spore, Mass Effect and Grid when u are starting to play it. if the display comes back, then u are good to go.

Another way to test this is by opening a .mkv video file (usually found in downloaded anime). Open a few quickly, (like double click on 1st episode, and then another and then another, as quick as possible), then for sure blackout

Fuuurrrmark easiest to replicate the thing. Friend using AMD system with realpower 450w coolermaster PSU.

My specs in my sig. I using cap ayam 550w... but his is 450w also can handle wor... =/

and i do get blackscreen in crysis with 8x AA lol... game was barely playable..but that is a good way to stress the card fps was around 30 -.-

errr.. chap ayam PSU brand need to divide by 2 as is not Real Power

That realpower also can't output 450w.. 450w also is the max output lei.

Yeah max output is 450w for Real Power..but your 550W output roughly around 300W only
