py800 owners

i have a slight problem here.. im trying to connect my pc to this py800 va hdmi.. it seems that i cant really get 1920x1080. the best is still 1024x768 just like using vga port. fyi when i connect it to my x series sony i can get 1080p via hdmi sad.gif i think this tv is really crappy leh.. sad.gif . guess its time to upgrade to a samsung 9 series or myabe sony's x replacement sad.gif
*
pc via hdmi to py800 cannot get better resolution? so bad ar? anyway lcd is always better for pc..

as for samsung s9 and sony x i dun recommend u guys to buy bcoz OLED is coming out by 2010. when OLED come out u guys will say LED is not enuf. u wont say OLED technology is not enuf bcoz can last for 10-15years b4 any new thingy come out

and also if u have the budget for LED.. you're already near enough for OLED

for OLED to reach mainstream market affordability ,maybe in 2013 . so lets live with new 2009 LED LCD or panny new plasma which is getting better and better such as lower power consumption rate , many more connectivity and playability, better backlight controls , more durable panels and of course better PQ

Is it a good buy? Or should I consider other model or other brand?? And btw, how is Samsung's plasma TV?
*
sammy plasma PN 450 or higher color saturation and accuracy is superb except the black level. feature and function wise , beat panny hands down.

panny warranty for 5 year is unbeatable and with better black level as well. PV8/80 is well documented here in this forum. at RM 4,000 or lower , you will live to watch with no regrets

get a 32" or a 37" TV is my suggestion smile.gif
*
Thanks pal. The reason I go for plasma is I want to view ASTRO and understand that ASTRO looks good on plasma.

But it would seems that with viewing distance of 7-8 feet, 42" is too large. perhaps I should consider 32" or 37".

In between Panasonic 32LX800MK 100 MHz and Sharp LC32A53M 100MHz, which one is better ah? Panasonic is 10,000:1 contrast ratio whereas Sharp is 7500:1. And it would seems that Panasonic consume less power at 151W whereas Sharp is at 262W.

Any further comment?

are these crt? crt's size is specified by its tube size, where the viewable area is a little bit smaller than the physical tube size.

lightning strike is covered if u use belkin surge protector, a bit expensive but i think it's worth it. also the product comes with lifetime warranty. i'm thinking to get one as well.

One question here..might be a bit silly,

Plasma does have response time ?

Now what i just notice it makes so much different if the response time is high, especially if any of you guys are watching the DVD version of newest HONG KONG SERIES "GEMS...something: ...the initial part where the whole scenes like a dragging slide show, if your LCD response time is low (what i saw was on the Samsung 3 series), the quality is distinctly bad, where you can see stutterness...

And just found out that even SONY BRAVIA W SERIES (from the booklet) the response time is 8 MS, OMG, it's worse than PHILIPS, and LG in this sense, even that it's FULL HD....

Therefore for good TV testing, i suggest you all use the DVD version of these HONG KONG series as a try out to know whether the TV is ok when looking at fast motion images
