hi i've just change to intel e8600 this morning, now running at stock clock and stock voltage. i just noticed that during idle, my core0 temp is higher than my core1 temp by 5 degrees. is it normal for this proc? cuz before this last night when i checked my e6750, both cores are running at the same temp. thanks.

you can try PC Wizard to check both temp (HDD n Proc) or check proc temp using Real temp. biggrin.gif

or http://www.cpuid.com/hwmonitor.php

yup...that is pretty much normal smile.gif

but actually it can sometimes be due to uneven heatsink mounting and also thermal paste spreading
sigh... ya i read from other forums about uneveness of the proc or sensor prob but i dont like the difference so i took all the trouble to dissemble my mobo and took off my hsf. the tim looks evenly spread to me, so i try to reapply and try to rescrew the hsf very very evenly back. now the temperature difference is 6 degrees... cry.gif 1 degree more than what i used to have... sigh. im not going to do anything about it already. fed up and my thumbs and fingers hurts like crazy now from the assembling and dissembling. will continue to oc later and try to post result here. thanks!

My rig usually runs at 35 when idle...
Just after my comp crash, then i reinstall the windows... i checked that the idle went to 40... all temp spiked up by 5...
Initially i tot its the thermal paste dried up, eventho its just been 4 months...
So i reapply the thermal paste, still same, so i tot might be the prob when i reapply...
so i reapply again but the prob still the same...

tried out a lot of other temp reader... still having the same reading...

What might the prob here ?

well, not satisfied i removed my mobo and hsf and cleaned the proc and hsf and reapplied the tim and reattach again for the third time! wasted alot of facial tissue and tim and my time. and the result it still the same, the 5 degrees difference is still there.

anyway done a stress test last night.

arct / xigmatek sd-964 / tuniq tx2 / intel e8600 E0 @ 4.05Ghz(450x9) (21.5% overclock) / vcore 1.26v / xigmatek stock 92mm fan and nmb 92mm (push-pull config) / idle: 44/38C / load: 63/58C / non-AirCond / OCCT V2.0.1

the proc temp is somewhat the same as my previous oc on e6750 when its suppose to be lower, plus my mobo temp is higher than before too. i guess this is due to my long gpu blocking and heating up my case airflow (plus its sitting right next to my northbridge and right on top of my southbridge!). back then i was using another gpu. i oc with multiplier 9 because with 450x9.5 @1.33v the proc will go more than 70C, i tried 450x10 too but that requires more than 1.35v and in long term i think it would do more damage to the proc if i havent solve the heat problem. anyway thanks!
