ok.... here is my personal experience after .... few hours usage (b4 handed it over to my boss) whistling.gif

1.Like the previous post... the smart express on cover its just sumthing extra, nothing great... since it is so smart, it will change the theme of ur fone when u change the cover... tongue.gif

2.camera wise.... so so oni. oso nothing great. ok 4 conventional shot... n82 is way way much better.

3.FM tansmitter is ok... u can transmit ur whole damn album.... but lack of bass... hissing sound become worse when receiver n ur fone is distanced +- 1m

4.UI is great... FP2... however... at times it slows down... I dun noe y though hmm.gif

5.GPS locking is fast when u turned on AGPS... otherwise, its a test of patience.. Forget nokia maps... use garmin or other gps s/w instead icon_idea.gif

6.As in previous post again.... the headset is a crap..... get urself a new 1.. tongue.gif

7.Gaming wise is NOT recommended unless u have hard thumbs, mine sakit oredi even after a abt 30 minutes oni... but the games r great (both 3rd party sisx n ngage)

8.Sounds quality from the fone speaker is great... no "pecah" at max... but again.... no bass.... just like SE fone...

9.Auto rotate kinda frustrating at times... recommended to off it whistling.gif

10.navi wheel....? i find this like my no.9 post tongue.gif

11. files organiser is a pain in a neck.... well, maybe 4 me only....

12.no torch function.... u need to install 3rd party application. or on the light during "record" video

13.the fone is smudge magnet.... HIGHLY recommended to get a "comdom" whistling.gif , transparent casing or gadget skin wrap....

i guess thats all 4 now
will post more if i got the change to play with it again brows.gif

i think the word "suck" is a bit too exaggerated.

let me give you my own opinion -

1. the smart cover is nothing great i agree. but at least you can change covers. the themes that goes with the covers is just lame. no patterns, just colors.

2. camera wise - so so? you be the judge - here is a photo taken with no flash. xenon does produce better details and colors (very tiny difference only) but this is a phone and I wont be using it to take award winning pictures - here is my sample taken with no flash. you can always buy the n82 which has xenon but you also be missing out a few things that the N79 have that the N82 doesnt at all. The dual LEDS is darn strong. You cant look at it directly without getting temporary blinded.
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

3. FM transmitter works. If you are getting hissing sound is because there is a nearby radio channel which is much stronger than your N79. The trick is to get a channel separated from the radio networks. You need to tune to a frequency with just static and then use that for your N79. No bass - again this is a phone not a boom box.

4. darn fast UI. read the reviews everywhere that confirms this. maybe you got too many apps running.

5. GPS - using garminxt now with malsingmaps. gonna try malfreemaps soon which is better for KL

6. I have not try the headset so no comments. Even if it was crap, so what? No big deal.

7. So far I have only "installed" and tried Tetris. For me, playing the games is to kill time waiting for somebody etc. For real gaming experience, get a PS3.

8. Sound - no comment

9. Auto rotate - you either hate or love it but the most important thing is that you have a choice. Its there. You can either turn it off or on.

10. Navi wheel - same as above. Its there, you can either turn it on or off. For me, tha navi wheel is a fast way to search thru your pictures. But to use it to select programs or settings, its easy to miss the intended target as it is a bit sensitive.

11. File manager works as intended. Got no idea why is it a pain to some.

12. No torch function - you cant blame the Nokia or the phone right? The LEDS are there, go buy the program. Its like complaining you bought a PS3 but there is no game in there.

13. This phone is NOT a smudge magnet! Because of the white or gray color, smudges doesn't show so much as black colored one does. If you mean the screen, then tell me which phone is not a smudge magnet?

For something at this low price range, you guys seems to want everything. Actually this phone does have everything. Like anything else, there are pros and cons. Its just which pros and which cons that makes or breaks your deal thats all.

For me, this phone has been great except that my charger spoiled the second day I bought mine. I got a 1 to 1 exchange for the charger and everything is working great now. The browser is really excellent. Surfing is not painful like WM's PDA phones. Wifi is pretty strong. It can detect far away signals. It can play Youtube that my pc fails to even load. No start stop video here but smooth running videos. I can sync all my Notes, Contacts, and Calendar from Outlook. Voice Command works great too and no voice training needed. I dont think you can find a better phone at this price point and at a size this small.

@ idoblu...
easy there, its not like im saying its bad or sumthing... tongue.gif

abt the smudges thingy, im referring to the back panel (sorry 4 misleading)... the 1 comes with the white 1. i dun noe abt the grey 1 though.
just get a transparant skin wrap n problem solved tongue.gif

camera wise.... like i said, its ok 4 conventional shot... at times its over saturated... however, looking at the bright side, saving is fast.... n there is no slow zoom as reviewed in gsmarena... zooming and panning is fast (u have to appreciate the 16M colors when zooming) tongue.gif

no offense but i did turn off all running applications (except the menu n stand by whistling.gif) b4 testing out the UI whistling.gif

as u mentioned... i tried gps with malfreemaps.... its ok, with the voice assisted navi. u dun even have to look at ur fone icon_idea.gif

abt wifi, i tried.... but always asked me for security code.... must be the router settings hmm.gif
untill then, i have no comments on wifi n browser.

abt the headset, u can always get ur own 1.... so, no big issue here...

so skyer.....
overall, its a good all-rounder fone... though i'd admit, im expecting more out it brows.gif

feel that the picture contain many noise if no bright enuf at the place u took the photo shakehead.gif
overall is like a better 3.2mp camera for me wink.gif but still ok for daily and normal shot brows.gif

but feel that the ui was smooth and doesnt slow 0.0" didnt feel any lag yet

about the wifi, if you connect through a wlan that security available then have to enter the security code to access with it. otherwise its juz connect directly nod.gif
agree with idoblu that the wifi searching is strong enuf, can detect far away wifi signal.
satisfied with the browsing speed as i only run MSN messenger and browse net/forum.

smudge magnet ? still ok as wrap it with transparent skin since day 2 i bought....

smaller size and white color phones was always my first choice,

There are certain ways and combination to use your Wifi and Browser for surfing.

At the Home screen -
If you select to turn on WLAN Scanning to On - it will scan and continue to scan even when you are already connected to something. I fear that continue scanning will drain your battery faster. But before you turn off scanning, you must be already browsing the Web, if not the whole Wifi thing will turn off. If you have already set your SSID and WEP address, it would go in from here without asking anymore. Once it has detected the network, it will lock on or you can select other networks if available. To surf the net, you must select the "Cont. Web Browsing". If you go separately to open the browser from the menus instead, you will need to enter the SSID if your network is hidden. Yes everytime. Maybe there is a way to set it in the browser but I havent found it yet.

You can also turn on Wifi and start surfing by selecting the Browser directly. As mentioned above, you will need to select how you wish to connect and to which network. And you will need to enter the SSID everytime if your network is hidden. The wifi will not scan but will lock onto the network that you have selected.

It will charge at the point of downloading latest info on nearest station. Subsequently no more update till not sure when, those AGPS (Globallocate) in HP PDA required 3 days update once..not sure Nokia. If u subscribe for 3G unlimited...not so worry.

BTW, GPS software like Garmin no need any phone connection-lah...Totally free...Actually I prefer to switch off AGPS rather than on it. Only Nokia maps not downloaded using map uploader u will be charge realtime..

well,, from wat i've seen, u will only be charged for satellite locking..... which means only a few cents.... during the navigation time, it should be free of charge.

Hehe. I hv been paying wth GPS since 2006..starting wth HP6515 wtgh AGPS, ASUS P535, Nokia6120+ ext BT Holux GPSr & now N78. So I'm pretty sure-loh biggrin.gif ...The best about Nokia & not available in HP AGPS is the option to switch off the AGPS function & u still can acquire GPS what..In HP6515, the AGPS will be activated for about 1-2min & after data downloaded, the system will swicth-off the downloading process untill the 3rd day or as and when u feel to download the data.

BTW, u need to understand what AGPS first..it is just a small package data transmitted to ur phone to denote your current location and thus assist the fast acquisiton of GPS signal..not downloading the whole maps!! Downloading the whole maps only applicable to Nokia maps & not Garmin MXT.. biggrin.gif
