i dont care about genre
been there,done that
i just enjoy any good music for my ears smile.gif

talking about metalcore music,i really love it
few metalcore bands had been my fav since the last 7-10years

but i dont really fond with the so called 'mathmetal' & 'deathcore' bands
such as dilinger escape plan, job for cowboy, acacia strain
i can listen to their music, but in another 15mins i would be dead bored

Metal has no boundaries, indeed but some genres create a law (esp. black metal) to differentiate between other genres. I care about genres.. It's really shows that you're know what are you listening to or not and is it you're a real metaller or just being a trendy on the music scene. This determine your knowledge about the music too.. Yes, it looks like a short minded, but you might saw a lot of old timer of metal might say the same think like this too unless if you're not been in underground scene where at that time we're making trading without profit for the love of the metal music, we share the flyers amongst us by traditional way (mail) and trade in some good stuff, and contact the band by ourselves. We're not depends on the shop to get the stuff, so we will get news faster than others too.

Nowadays it's differs, more ppl like of being glamor and didn't pay much attention on the metal ethics. So many posers out there claimed they're listen to this band and that band but not knowing whose the real root, the origin, some ppl also claimed they're pioneer band but in reality they're such a copycat of others band. This will differentiate between the new comer and the old timer of metal of course! biggrin.gif

Anyway i'm not listening to metal music only, i also listen to the old school hardcore band like D.R.I, Embrace, Fugazi, Casey Jones, Dag Nasty, Absurd, Agnostic Front, Bad Brains, Buzzcocks, Embrace Today, 25 Ta Life, Backbone, Mineral, Refused, Strife, Earth Crisis, Propaghandi, Sunny Day Real Estate, Ignite, Youth of today, Texas is the reason etc..

Also the new wave of deathmetal, like the band i mentioned earlier and the old metalcore band like hatebreed, biohazard, Undying, Shadows Fall, Shai Hulud, Walls of Jericho etc..

Math core (instead of calling them math metal) / chaotic / fast core / screamo (real screamo is differ than trendy and commercial mtv emo crap) like this band Acheemelie, Ampere, Black Cross, Black Line Fever, Cassandra Complex, Coalesce, Cougar Den, Daitro, Dear Daiary I Seem to be dead, Denali, Envy (japan master screamo), Fear before the march of flames, Forensics, Framtid, Funeral Diner, Gauge Means Nothing, Hassan I sabbah, Hot Cross, Idiot Pilot, Jenny Piccolo, Kaaos, Kaospilot, La Quiete, Mihai Edrisch, Nervewreck, Norma Jean, Orchid, Neil Perry, Page 99, Shikari, The Jhai Alai, The Locust, Utarid (malaysian screamo.. not commercial type of band!).... ahhh so many of them if i mentioned all you'll be shocked by then.. hahahahahahhahahahahah tongue.gif

I also listening to grindcore, crust grind, D-beat, noise core, noise grind, crossover stuff, mince core... you can always ask me if you wanna know about them... I can differentiate either they're on metalside or otherwise.. whistling.gif

My first metal tape was an Iron Maiden Live After Death album bought in 1986...my first rock tape was Search's Mentari Merah album bought on the same day from the same pasar malam.

A year after after that, thrash came to our land and blew everything away - and it all started with Metallica's Kill Em All....

So to me personally, in extreme metal (beginning with thrash obviously) nothing is important unless you started your metal journey with Kill 'Em All.

So yeah...to hell with all these silly metal genres, just metal up your ass and kill em all!

old school headbanger would never considered nu-metal as a part of metal. I understand that sentiment because  as a follower of thrash metal, i think screamo, nu-metal etc. is aimed generally for commercial market. Look how fast screamo, all those pop goes punk cover band fanbase grow in the past 2 years usually within high school to tenageer. Afterall, the music and song structure itself is inferior to thrash and heavy metal.

true dat! stuck into thrash in 87... now already 2010 and still stuck with it... smile.gif

that's cool that you're in the scene at that time. According to an old friend that i still hang out with till nowadays smile.gif , Mr Marzuk of Zulmat Zine from Terengganu (one of the earliest fanzine in metal scene back in 1987. All were hand written tongue.gif ), the scene of thrash metal start earliest than that... most probably in circa '83 - '85, brought back by a student who's studying at overseas. While Vulgar, the first black metal band hailed from Ipoh was started in 1984.. biggrin.gif

So, that's mean the start of an era to every states in malaysia was differs between each other. But, anyway hail to you notworthy.gif

even sharing same stage with those local bands u stated above

talking about ethics n posers......ive seen it all
some of these people who really stand by the ethics in the underground scene back then, are now the one who sells out
skang da masuk tv,main music mainstream......dulu masa main kt underground kutuk semua tu kaw2 hahaha
but i dont mind that,peoples change....dont they ? smile.gif

I call them a new wave of death metal music rather than metalcore. Pure Metalcore remind me of Biohazard, the old band.  smile.gif

But most metaller didn't see any trouble with the new wave of death metal.. the band like The Black Dahlia Murder, Neaera, As I Lay Dying, Unearth, Bleeding Through, I Killed The Prom Queen, As Blood Runs Black, As Cities Burn, Between the buried and me, Bury Your Dead, Killswitch Engage, Parkway Drive, Through the eyes of the dead and tons others...  smile.gif

death metal? no la.. metalcore is something like punk/heavy metal stuff... Try the Band "dead by april" They have those punk style look but their music is not really punk.. mor elike melodic metal or some shit like dat... then i search in wiki it says is some modern punk metal shit

maybe different sub genre of metalcore? u think so?

Added on April 29, 2010, 11:43 amyeah nowadays metal have alot of crazy funny genres.. math metal, future metal what the hell? who came up with these crazy names for genre anyway? the band itself? maybe their music sounds nice but when i see how they label the genres i would give it up without even listening to them

that's good, i think the 'caring' meaning for genre i stated here that at least we know what it is except if you listening to those mainstream... i also listening to 'em too like a dead popstar michael jackson... hahahhahahaha... i never care about that genre.. hahahahahhaha...

bagus bagus... sekarang bebudak dalam scene metal dah open sket tak macam dulu.. strict sgt.. hahaha.. tapi aku takde laa strict sgt pon pasal tu.. lantak ler komer janji jgn kena bahan sudey.. biggrin.gif

hahaha u must forgot the old band like the 'old' black thrash metal from brazil, sarcofago, don't you see the drummer with a punk outfit as well? Quorthon from bathory also from u/g punk music scene... but bathory was one of the legend in metal scene. Most of the old metaller appreciate the old hardcore punk band like Discharge too. Do you know about that? The sound of grindcore is a well mix between death metal meet thrash and punk music, do u think this is a crazy funny genre? Don't read and depends to wikipedia... sometimes the data is not accurated and contains the word from poser, someone who didn't know to differentiate the music as well. it's a freedom dictionary that was written by unknown people.. everyone can edit the wikipedia as well.

different ideology.. some claimed that they're true sXe.. hahahaha.. crap... it's crap whatever they said. Now where these guys? I don't see any muslim sXe around except a new comer.. But in reality, seem like nobody is the real sXe... And what's surprised me more that a d-beat/fastcore/crusty follower nowadays claims that they're anti-metal.. hahahaha what a crap more anyway... Most of the time they're bashing Black metal in their fanzine. These crap-head who already known to survive in a free-for-all.. making some bullshit minded, they're still talking about the anti-capitalist, bla bla bla... doh.gif shakehead.gif

remember about that? laugh.gif

not like that actually. if you like something you may dwell onto it right? So, you can see your effort through that. If you love metal what will you do for that? what's your contribution for the things you love at most..
only you know what's exactly happen in the past but not the future. Most from my past experience, ppl keep asking about the future from the band's interview in fanzine.. hahahah nobody know about the real future.. Everyone will die for sure.. laugh.gif

hahahahahah... that seems you have some disagreement in the terms. I bet there's still somebody accept you if you're being honest and have a good attitude in front of them... tongue.gif

it's pity that most newcomer nowadays don't have a chance to be in the scene of the real metal underground... the traditional trading, pass-on some goodies, info/flyers etc, situation (it's not the same nowadays... the old time i felt more better than nowadays, more gigs, nobody care that you're metal or not).... nowadays ppl will look at you if you're wearing a black metal shirt with big inverted cross (especially Marduk's shirt like i had in the past..) tongue.gif

if you're muslim living in peninsular malaysia then it will be more trouble if you're wearing that shirt in front of religious officer... religious officer will took action because black metal has been list as illegal culture for the muslim... they'll charges you even more with 'syariah law'.... while in the old time, nobody took action against it.. hahahahahaha

in the past, i was just listening to metal at most. But i still have time to concern about other u/g scene, because i need to know it for the co-related on some part of the music. Some old timer come from another old scene of punk.. take a look at joe kidd of carburator dung. He's one of the guy from the 1st Wave of metal in our local scene in malaysia. The old timer can mixed well with other u/g scene folks. Only a newcomer that created a barrier which is making the crap thing until it got noticed by the media.. I felt frustrated these poser that show-off some stupid attitude, or maybe has been payed to make a fool on the metal scene.

Do you realized about that? I saw my old black metal hang out friend (bandboy) Aie & Faizal of Aradia, the late Xul & Sham of War666, Zarim & the late mat pet of Imperial, the late odin of Ravenlord, pogie, zoy of Cryptic Malediction, wil of Sauts Alastor, paen of Conqueror etc.. wearing a football jerseys back in 2002 after stupid harian metro newspaper spread wrong and negative views on the metal scene that we never did that.. Never ever!!! I felt this as a frustration. Most of 'em were already quit from the scene... Arggggghhhhhhhhh.... shakehead.gif

i think you're mislead my purpose of determination here. What i mean, you'll surely find a lot of info in metal scene if you like metal at most. That's sufficient, if only that the thing you can do. By supporting the band you'll surely buy metal stuff. smile.gif

Hello. I'm new here. Just wanna share my little metal knowledge here. Not dat I'm not support local band, it's just I'm lack of information about local metal scene. Since I was poor to buy malaysian metal zine, I rely on internet for source of metal act & news.

My metal history is to long and boring tongue.gif Just know me as a metalhead dude from 90an who stole pirate Metallica - Black Album cassette from pasar malam ( true story ! hahahaha laugh.gif )... I'm a universal music listener, so I'm won't mind if u introduce me some music that your think it's awesome, as long it's got melodic rhythm in it. Yes. from 8bit sound, jpop/jrock, electro, industrial metal, gothic, dark metal, New Wave British Heavy metal, trash metal.... as long it's got melodic tunes & fast tempo, I listen.

My fav. music genre ? Gothenburg metal. I think this genre really fit my taste of music since I'm not into traditional death metal.

Fav. band ? Many of them are Swedish and Finnish, such as Dark Tranquillity ( Sweden ) and Insomnium ( Finland ).. too many list. Be'Lakor ( Australia ) and Eluveitie ( Switzerland ) are my one special band.

My words to young guys who begin to like music, please dig more about metal music. Stop saying ******** is best band in the world, how silly lily are u ? Open your eyes and open your mind more, there are far greater musician out there who produce an unforgetable tunes and play live way better than band your often listen in the radio.

In my opinion, ******** won't last, i bet they won't last for 35 years like Iron Maiden ( 1975–present still an active band ). They will root, they will forgetable, next generation won't remember them... that time your realize metal music is still alive, Iron Maiden out for new album... who knows...
