That's odd... I didnt see anything about a built-in TV tuner when configuring my machine.... Weird... So can we add it in after ordering the machine?

i think the tv tuner didnt included in our studio xps 16 here yet. saw in other forum that it's available now to some country only.

my problem:(dont want dell replace by parts, wanna ask for a new unit)
1.Top casing + teh leather hv 5 scratches (very hate it)
2.The LCD hv more than one pixelens (pixel problem)
3.palmrest hv scratches and nock
4.edge casing at the DVD driver there.
5.My 6 cells batteries also hv scratches
6.why the window vista can detect 4gb ram but at physical memory it show only 3gb ram or 2.99gb ram only ?
8.this studio XPS only come with 3 disc ?no remote control ?
9.the system still face lagging problem but is better than studio 1537
10.performance (speed) not sastify me ... abit slow, I expect something higher that DDR3 can go ~.~
11. teh bottom casing not close well !! dont know should i post the photo up to teh forum. why the QC can pass this unit.

The monitor resolution is nice, better than Studio. If use Full Hd 1080p that would be nicer.
I get Generic PNP monitor ~.~, hyundai ram ... Standard HardDisc not WD or seagate ... no brand !!

The temperature is 40 when normal use it underneath hv coolerpad.
when in high performance is 51 when i writting this !! 45 for harddisc. 38% memory utilization.
when install heavy software is 64++.
even higher when running memory diagnostics tool at 3rd lvl. damn hot ~.~ i think is above 80 or 90 at the left hand
side. right hand side abit cooler.
when playing game , cs teh source 3mins still ok not very hot. no mood try it since this unit hv scratches ...
for studio 10min sc the sources is very hot ald, above 60++ even go 70.

at web, i saw ppl descript stuio XPS,
the whole performance benchmark is arround 6-7k. not very well when compare to those unit using DRR2 only.
the whole unit temperature is 90-116F when stressing the unit.
They say this unit cooling system not very good. not good for gaming bcoz the pamrest very very hot.

The HD screen is nice for 720p, hope cna get 1080p... better than studio even just with partial HD.
hvnt fully check this unit yet... hvnt exam + no mood. Dell spoils my mood ~.~

any ppl knwo where can get everest enginnering software ?? latest edition.
where can get the outer screen protecter , if not the casing essily damage.
lazy to cut it myself

overall the unit still ok for me... hope the system can run even fast since it's uding DDR3. But it make no big different
for me even this unit use DDR3 with DDR2 .....

Ouch bro... You got so much problems with yours? Mine is ok in everywhere... except for the speakers and the power adapter.. My speakers sounds like the sound terlekat inside cannot come out... And my power adapter shocked me and is now buzzing.... How about others? Got such problems? Especially speakers...

Hi dackson... sorry I can't help with the other problems but maybe you can try looking at this site eBags Laptop Finder to find a bag that will fit your studio xps. It is still a new laptop so you won't find it under the Laptop Model option. What you can do is enter the dimensions of your laptop in inches and it will tell you which bag will fit your laptop. If you see anything you like from the results they give you, you could try buying it online or looking for it in stores. Good luck

@Dackson : you must be very unlucky to get that unit. for question 6 you can only utilize full 4gb ram if you using 64bit bista. and for question 8 studio xps 16 here did not come with remote control, at least for now.

not sure why you get a no brand hdd but mine is a seagate and for the dvd drive it's actually optiarc from sony and nec (can google it). i never measure the temp of the laptop surface before but based from software it never goes above 80c for any of the parts to me without laptop cooler.

@micdy : izzit something like broken sound? you better called up dell and ask for replacement.

Its not broken sound... It sounded like something is blocking the speakers or smth... Its not as clear... Like there is a layer of smth there blocking... Is it normal??

i'm not so sure on your problem.. my speaker acting weird also last week, the bass (low notes) is very heavy and the volume is very low even on 100% and it sounds broken when volume higher than 50% on the left speaker. i think it also sound a bit like something blocking cause the sound is very weird comparing to other speaker. called up dell and the technician replaced the whole top panel (the whole thing with speaker, touch pad, touch panel, power button) for me. and now the speaker sound nothing like previous and can go very loud. i did notice they wrap the speaker with some tape on the new one they replaced.

I think mine is the same as what u said... I already called them up today to replace me with a new adapter as the one i got is buzzing... Might as well ask the guy to change the whole panel for me.. How long does it takes? Does the technician do it on the spot?

Today at Queensbay I saw a Golla notebook bag can fit my Studio XPS 16.
but the price is RM 288 ~.~
I saw one Belkin bag too, 15'4 inches but is not slim backpack RM 288 also
Belkin side messenger side bag RM 288 also but low yat show RM 195
at Pelangin mall hv a bag brand ROCK nice too RM 168 with leather.
targus 17 RM 288 also ~.~

I think Studio XPS 16 can fit into Belkin slim bagpack 15'4

Haiz... USM wifi is sick... constanly disconnect ...

just call them again say your speaker got problem. it took me around less than an hour i guess to replace the whole panel and the technician do it on the spot in front of me, but he told me this is the first time he open this laptop because too new.

glad to see him replace the whole panel instead of the speaker itself only. also after he replaced the whole panel you will lost that 2 intel and vista sticker. remember to ask them to send you a new one, received mine 2 days after via DHL in a very big box for 2 sticker only.

just play music that you familiar with it, if you get the problem like me and micdy you should know instantly by it's weird tone.

I saw XPS Studio 13 at Lowyat today, its really sleek and nice , I will probably choose 16 as an upgrade to my 9400 like end of the year lets hope the price drop quickly XD
