By comparison, I'd say the HP is the best value for money, where if you customize the Dell to match the HP, you'll overshoot RM6k by at least a few hundreds. The FW with the matching specs will cost even more.

And what's more: the HDX 16T gives you a numerical keypad, great for me as I key in a lotta data, while the 1640 and the FW doesn't have one, and instead they waste the space for nothing...

Lastly, when choosing a 16" laptop, think why you're buying one. I'm buying one for its great aspect ratio of 16:9 to watch HD movies. So which screen amongst all 3 is the best? I'd say the Vaio FW has the best here, but the HDX 16 has the UltraBrightview double lighting to make movies look brighter and sharper.

If you look at the older XPS models, the new 16-incher is not much of an improvement, though I can't comment much on the new Audio system on it with a subwoofer, as I really don't know the quality on it. But hey, Dell's got an RM500 rebate (if your specs exceed RM5k) for CNY, go for it! laugh.gif

Great post. I'm still very conflicted over whether to get an xps studio 16 or hp hdx 16t. If hp malaysia allowed personal customizations, they'd have me as a customer already. I just don't feel 100% satisfied forking out rm6000 for the provided specs with only one year warranty. At least with dell, I can upgrade and get 3 yrs warranty plus rm500 rebate. Sigh, decisions, decisions.

the default spec with 4gb ram, 320gb hdd and 3 years complete care for rm4.8k. wanted to get rgbled screen but i think that resolution is too much for 16".

anyway tried crysis benchmark tool just now. 25fps on 1280x720 and 30fps on 1024x768 with medium-high setting (texture, object and shader high). gpu temp is around 75c when heavy gaming.

I'm not a gamer so I wouldn't know but is 75c considered normal temp when gaming? Would heavy Photoshop usage lead to approximately the same temperature? Sounds a tad hot!

@tention: Hehe, I see u in the notebookreview forum for xps 1640 owners! Can u tell me if what Wolfpup says in the forum is true? He said that when the screen is open, it partially blocks the vents behind, causing some of the hot air to go back underneath the laptop (or something like that), making the temp rise about 20 degrees. Some other people have disagreed with him so I'm just wondering who's right...

Is there a design flaw like he says there is? Any other owners having problems with airflow?

Hi dackson... sorry I can't help with the other problems but maybe you can try looking at this site eBags Laptop Finder to find a bag that will fit your studio xps. It is still a new laptop so you won't find it under the Laptop Model option. What you can do is enter the dimensions of your laptop in inches and it will tell you which bag will fit your laptop. If you see anything you like from the results they give you, you could try buying it online or looking for it in stores. Good luck smile.gif
