QUOTE(dani_irwan @ Oct 20 2008, 08:16 PM) Nope, I didn't...but VERY tempted to...pocket kosong la. Well the Nikkor 70-300 is a pretty sweet deal with VR and all the works for 1.7k++ brand new. It's not a DX lens too so in case you ever upgrade to FX in the future it still can be used.and miri, I can't view your photos. It doesn't show up here. |

QUOTE(dani_irwan @ Oct 20 2008, 08:26 PM) Yeap. Any lens with the prefix DX will seriously vignette when used with the Full Frame body... which is why when people upgrade to D700 or D3, they sell off their 17-55mm f2.8, 10.5mm f2.8, 18-200mm f3.5-5.6... etc etc. cause those are all DX lenses.FX lenses can be used for both DX and FX. |

Damn...yet another thing to consider. But I doubt I'll be upgrading to a full frame format anytime soon, heheh.

I mean it's not a tongue twister or a deal-breaking issue... just something that's good to know, unless you're one of those who leap from D40 => D3 in 1 year.If you like something reasonably priced, with good telephoto range, I think that's the lens to get. I'm eyeing it myself since I can't picture myself doing a lot of telephoto shots unless I'm at an airshow or zoo... etc... even then, those are daylight shots so I don't need f2.8. |

What about the Tamron 70-300? I think now it's better to get than the Sigma...the reviews on the Sigma are so mixed, some good some bad. Plus, it's cheaper than the Siggy too...of course, VR is still lacking. Ah, last2 I'll just opt for the 55-200mm Nikkor la...haha.

I dislike the new design... a lot of crap.At least our main flickr photostream still looks the same though. QUOTE(dani_irwan @ Oct 20 2008, 08:42 PM) What about the Tamron 70-300? Ah, last2 I'll just opt for the 55-200mm Nikkor la...haha. I don't know much about Third Party lenses since I've never tested them extensively besides the 17-50mm f2.8 Tammy which I can definitely recommend (provided you get a good copy that doesn't back/front focus).I guess the general concensus is that the Nikkors have better built than the Third Party lenses. Anything in the telephoto range that doesn't have VR/OS/IS is better left alone... unless you have a habit of carrying a tripod with you wherever you go. Btw, if you find that some colors are a bit over saturated. Use the hue/saturation adjustment layer to target specific colors to tone down. also, play with levels. guess really need to try more... |

He he, used to own one ...70-300mm vr , sold odi to one lucky student for rm1300.00 nia..prob cheapest ever sold on freetrade. Sharp and nice len, with vr, can be hand held... but beware at telephoto end (as with most lens), just a little bit soft...not a major prob though. Overall a good lens, imho.If you like something reasonably priced, with good telephoto range, I think that's the lens to get.
