Your friend lens should be the VR version of 70-300

no it isnt hmmmmm, the guy gave him VR box but the lense is a G lense.

I think i have to check with him again!

That 70-300 VR is a G lens la. G = no aperture ring.

he paid for the non VR price, got a VR box and a non VR lense.

And he says AF boleh pakai

Doubt mate. If like that, your friend most likely bluff you or he bought a VR lens. End of story
