1. There is no backwards spin function. Yes this is the brand new DC Bayu fan.

Ok. DC fan then is fine. It's the way the fan hall effect sensor finds it's direction.

2. Yes, there is a delay in chaning speeds. The beep is immediate, but it takes between 5 to 10 seconds to actually switch to the new speed.

Sounds fine as well. I thought the beep also delayed.
Should be a protection mechanism against abrupt change to prolong motor life.

If you still worry can always call Panasonic support to visit. They will fix for you if any problem

Guys, for a ceiling fan with either AC or DC motor, what happens if I pasang the L and N wires terbalik? Will it kaboom or just won't work and I just need to rewire it?

It will work but the fan is still "hot" even when switch is off AND if you didn't turn off the main RCD, since the fan switch only act on neutral wire. Not good practice to install terbalik, just climb up correct it lo

I see, tq for the advice. Sometimes the electrical wires aren't of the standard colours. And I have a phobia when it comes to testing live wire with test pen.

A test pen is safe as its resistor and diode inside is huge enough to limit any current flow through your body.

I would check that your main RCD is 30mA (0.03A) in order to have safe protection for human life.

Yup, I have learned much about RCD from you and know its importance. Unfortunately ST is still allowing 100mA RCD. But I noticed condos in JB are all using 30mA main RCCB, in addition to 10mA for water heaters.

Hi! Just moved into a new place with 8ft ceilings, so looking for low profile ceiling fans - any recommendations? Would prefer long lasting ones, and looking through this thread, Alpha/KDK/Panasonic seem to be recommended.

Are there any with lights included that are low profile?

If budget is not a concern. Go for Aeratron. Used more than 8 years. Just changed the remote module 6 months ago.

Have been using Alpha for the last 3 to 4 years. Have got 7 units in the house and all are still working fine without any problems.

All are white in colour and I don't know if they've done anything to the coating, but I find that it's extremely easy to clean.

Can somebody please help me

I've purchased the replacement ceiling fan but have a few issues.

1. Ceiling wires. From this picture to confirm, white is live, green is earth and black is neutral, correct?

2. Ceiling hook. The current fan has a hook with rubber pulley and a nut goes through it. The New fan has the same rubber pulley, but also another hook to go through. There is no nut. How?

3. The regulator, does it need changing? I opened up, there are two brown wires. Which is live and neutral?

Hi guys,

I've just completed the installation of the Panasonic F-M15A0.

The upper canopy "moves" when turning on/off. Is this normal?

Just follow back the wiring as old one for any replacement. For ceiling hook, replace the whole old rubber pulley from to new type since diff.

The best part about a DIKU fan is ripping out all the reusable stuff from it e.g. screws, C clips, and stuff like cotter pins.

It just ticks the box of having a fan for short term. Longevity not there, the PCB always fail because its driving a very heavy archaic motor.
Ease of installation -ve 8 out of 10
Ease of uninstallation -10 out of 10

Crude design, rough screw threads, can beat Airasia in terms of cost saving.

Even the mounting bolt also using a thin bolt (10mm spanner) and nut also 10mm. And that permanently attached metal bowl blocks the entire area means to install or uninstall the mounting bolt takes forever as you barely can turn the spanner even 30 degrees (using a 12-winged box end spanner).

As compared to the tried and trusted Pana/KDK using 12 and 13mm spanners so its easy to tighten with full 120-degree motion.

Hi all,

I'm looking at KDK K14QF vs K14PH.
K14PH comes with glass fibre blades at price around RM300+
K14QF comes with metal blades at price around RM400+

Anyone has experience with both of the model above? and which would be better option? Currently, I'm prefer K14QF more since it comes with metal blades.
