panasonic baby fan install with no hook is that ok?

Some baby fan for low ceiling doesn't use hooks to mount. But they need you to drill 4 holes - and insert anchor bolts into the holes.

I removed a kronos 5 blade as it failed on me.
Heavy to install as compared to the competitors P and K - and the metal concealer cup cannot be taken off the rod and they don't deburr the edges of that concealer cup vmad.gif .

U try reassign the blades to different config, like now is ABC try ACB / ABCD You try ACDB.

Anyone here with KDK Sensa 4 fan...? How's your power consumption like...?

Not sure if my fan has problems, but I find it almost as power hungry as a 1.5HP air-cond. These few nights didn't turn on air-cond, just the KDK fan but power consumption remains the same (as I record my daily usages day and night for comparison).
*
Assuming your fan is operating fine and has no faulty motor or bearing (meaning that when its set to speed 1/2 it still works and not just for show turning slowlyyyyyyyy) it should only take like ~80W

Can suggest me what suitable for living room, dining room and bedroom?
Which brand/model ok?
Im looking at Panasonic Bayu 5 blade, but is there any diff for the blade?
e.g. 4 blade suit for living room, etc etc
*
I would suggest these questions since all fans are not created equal brows.gif
1. Ceiling height - Standard Apartment/condo or low ceiling flat or duplex/very high ceiling
2. Clearance for blades - if wall/cabinet/wires for lighting is nearby u need to consider.
3. Fan size - Standard 3 bladed fan is 150cm/60" dia, more pretty ones are usually 140cm/54" dia. There's also huge fans suited for conference hall/event hall/hotel lobby.
4. Normal fan enough, or yuragi function preferred
5. Expected budget - 150/pc 300/pc 450/pc 700/pc or money no object
6. Room temperature (performance consideration) - choice of energy saving or maximum performance (airflow) required

It's used to fit a fan into super small room/toilet with narrow space/low cost flat 8' ceiling height/cabinet blocking a full size fan.

No problem as long as the fan is attached to something solid (e.g. fan hook). The plaster ceiling gypsum board doesn't hold weight.

Can give me any advise?

I had a 4 blade (metal blade, remote) Pana Bayoo 4 that didn't do much wind. It is good for rooms where a wall is beside the fan. Open space no good.
Fan motor power: (Low) 20W (High) 68W
Fan motor HP: 0.10

I took it down and bought a KDK Vtouch Jr, 4 blade (ABS blade) wah instantly got the feels.
Fan motor power : Low 19.5W High 85W
Fan motor HP : 0.13

Thing is cheaper fan come with smaller motor. Cannot compare kancil with inspira lol.
Also the KDK being a midrange model also come with ball joint.
The cheaper Bayoo 4 doesnt have a ball joint.
KDK got Ball joint = close to 0 vibration and super easy installation. The blades attach much better with the KDK.

Are they both AC or DC fans?? I noticed that DC fans are quieter, maybe bcos slower than AC fans.. But DC fan is cost saving and can switch the rotation direction..
*
All AC fans.
AC motor more tahan for long term.
DC motor used for specialty application like high starting torque (assembly line).. fan blades only no need high torque la
The 200+ bucks more for DC fans can easily pay for many years of electricity difference from AC fans.

Switching rotation direction not really much use here, as our climate is hot 365 days a year.. same as we don't need a heater function in aircon..

Dear all.

I need to purchase ceiling fan for my new house but i am lacking knowledge about it. I hope sifu at here can give me some advice.

1.) I have shortlist 3 model for my living room KDK V touch, Nami 5 and Mitsubishi C56-RW5-P SYGY. May i know which one is better and does 60" blade is really better then 56" a lot?
2.) For other all small area i am currently shortlist 4 model, KDK K14Y5-GY, Panasonic Bayu 5, Alpha AF20-5B/56 and Rubine RCF-PICCO201-5B-GM. Can advice which one should i go?

Appreciate for all the advice. Thank You.
*
1. You won't go wrong with KDK V touch. Mitsu not really fan specialist. Pana one, if you have frens working inside mfg factory, they cut cost like crazy wherever they can.
1.1 The difference between 56" and 60" is not so much as the 4" but motor size (0.10W vs 0.13W motor) really makes a big diff on the wind. I have the V Touch Junior K14Y2 (140cm/ 56″) comparing with Bayoo 4, I fart also stronger than the bayoo 4.

2. Get the KDK K14Y5-GY over the Bayoo 5.
https://www.kdk.com.my/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/K14Y5.pdf - see page 9 fan blade - the fan blade hole for the hook is punch out from the solid metal of the blade, which is proper.

Whereas Bayoo 4 blade [and my physical safety] is depending on a wire attached to the fan blade to hang on for dear life. ranting.gif as their safety "hole" is actually one whole longkang from the edge of the blade with only the wire acting as "seatbelt".

Thanks bro for your advice then i will go for KDK for living room.

For those small fans today i go the shop and have a look. As you say KDK K14Y5-GY is good and Rubine RCF-PICCO201-5B-GM also impress me. Panasonic and Alpha both out now.

Sorry 1 last question. if for KDK K14Y5-GY 4 blade and 5 blade wind will different so much? Thank You
*
Sure thing. Between 4 blade (K14X5-GY) and 5 blade (K14Y5-GY) should be similar wind as their CFM rating is the same. More towards aesthetics whether 4 blade or 5 blade suits your taste.

Hi, I'm getting a Panasonic Mondo 80'' soon.
https://www.panasonic.com/my/consumer/air-s...bkrh-vbksh.html

I know it's a big fan but this is exactly what I want for wider coverage.
It will be installed with plaster ceiling and the concern arises.

I knew most plaster ceiling installer may custom make a bracket with wood which looks insecure to me.
And the fan manual recommends a welded bracket only.

I google around and found this:
https://www.poecofan.com/product/false-ceil...pport-brackets/

Is this also commonly available in Malaysia?
I may buy this for the installer...
*
This is almost triple the weight of a normal fan (6-7kg), apparently the mondo is 17kg. Can ask them to secure using L angle bar or using bolt-and-nut thru the wood (ask them use 2x4" or better)

Dear Master Sifu, Thank you so much for the article you share. From what i study
1.) 4 blades is optimum but depend on motor power also. In this case how we know the power of K14Y5-GY (69 watts) is good for 4 blades or 5 blades? If i read the rubine fan manual it say it motor is 85 watts but with 5 blades in this case is that rubine is better?
2.) For Noise wood < plastic < metal but air flow is Metal > plastic > wood. If room all put thet K14Y5-GY then will be very noisy although it can generate more wind? because the blade is metal.
3.) Finally if i not mistaken blade pitch & blade angle is same things. KDK K14Y5-GY the blade look like flat. That mean it generate less air flow?

Actually i am very firm that 1 V-touch (if got budget senza) for living room but for other 6 rooms. I been thinking shall i should put all egg in 1 basket that mean all 6 pcs fan also buy KDK K14Y5-GY or half KDK and half rubine.

I been try searching rubine fan review but seem like very less. This is the rubine product details can you give me some advice?
https://www.rubine.com.my/product_manual/VettaPicco.pdf

Thank You Master Sifu
*
1.
Between 4/5 blade they should have similar dB (noise rating) of the KDK K14Y5-GY / K14X5-GY. Residential use fan won't make lots of noise unlike industrial fan (think mamak stall extractor).

2. I think that applies to high speed >1000 rpm, when the metal bend/flex as turbulence from the air causes it to resonate.

3.
At the max rpm (200-ish rpm) noise should be silent enough, not terribly noisy. I think paper flying around will be the one making more noise biggrin.gif

I think the lack of CFM rating for Rubine makes it hard for actual CFM comparison; but based on the manual, 85W AC motor is comparable to v touch junior (also 85W); this should have enough wind for the smaller rooms.

As an experiment can split half half to see which brand is more lasting biggrin.gif

Anyone had bought KDK K15V0-PBR fan and switch the downrod to the white 6" one, also by KDK? Did you repaint the white downrod since the fan is dark brown?

Thinking of cutting short the holder, but not sure if it's OK.

Or just use the white downrod. As my ceiling is also white, may be it will give the impression the fan is suspended on air.

You can use the short one - just spray with spray can to the brown you want biggrin.gif

I need some opinion. Right now the fan in my list is Panasonic Bayu 4. However I read that Bayu 4 has metal blade which is susceptible to rust.

So, my question is, should I topup a bit and go for econavi or KDK Sensa? or Bayu should be a fine choice already?

I strongly advise against getting a windless Bayu 4 if buying new. brows.gif

Sensa 4 when shopee card discount was only like RM30-ish more than a Vtouch Junior 4 blade
Both also got yuragi function (sensa and vtouch junior)
Sensa got more gearing (more selectable speeds)

fullset with box, warranty card
fan like new condition rclxs0.gif
runtime in total less than 7 days worth of usage. rclxms.gif

For smaller rooms i already decided on kdk baby since i don’t want the blade to be too close to the lights. But i haven’t decided on bigger fans in living & master bedroom. I guess it doesn’t make any sense to have lesser quality fan in master bedroom when other rooms have better quality fans sweat.gif

Hmm so far my experience was very good with new old stock K14Z9 bangwall.gif should have cleaned out the warehouse sale stock
Then I bought 2 more V touch junior K14Y5

I did consider Panasonic Nami/KDK V touch, but the 2 stars stickers turns me off.

Where did you buy you fans? How much for K14ZW? Can we get cheaper than Lazada/Shopee in physical shop? Right now I am considering buying from those selling online but also have physical shop.
*
For me I don't mind coz fans are very cheap to run as compared to any aircon unit.
Nothing ruins the day better than a 5* windless fan even at max speed.
I've already taken down that fan twice and installed thrice - living room, medium room, and finally just stuck it at the smallest room.

Where I bought fans from.. all over the place..mostly shopee online purchase, couple units were retail

K14Z9 - EOL Sensa 4 - Warehouse sale - only paid RM249 for an awesome quiet fan with yuragi function. Granted old model but its still BNIB condition.

Bayu 4 - Retail experience - Regretting the RM270 I spent on it.

Vtouch Junior - Retail experience. And my most expensive fan - was at Aeon but had CC vouchers so its heavily discounted per se. Listed at 490.
Vtouch Jr cost 403 on shopee.

K14ZW Sensa 4 only cost 459 after shopee CC voucher (listed at 515, min spend 500 get 80 off, which meant I could not buy another Vtouch junior to get that discount).

Attached Image Attached Image

Other notes
KDK fans have lots of foam all round as protection so it will survive logistics handling very well. Plus they're relatively lightweight for that size of box.
It is only aircon that is heavy but the foam only covers the ends that the center part of the box always gets crushed in transit.

You can try to go around electrical shop to see if they can give a better deal.
Personally, I hate haggling with retail shop as the "open price" amount quoted is easily 10% higher than online price with shipping when I bought my fridge.
They opened price at 2.5k when the online price was 2.1x-2.2x k (inclusive of delivery). I nego down to 2.4k with a Sat morning delivery guarantee (which went very well 8.50am already arrived at guardhouse). Staying in poorfag officeslave class of high rise have to take care of delivery hours window of opportunity too.

That time I had no choice but to get from retail because only can deliver on Sat morning and the online seller can only commit weekday afternoon/evenings which also costs me a day of work (need to take leave).

Your right. Energy rating for fan has minimal impact to our electricity consumption since it a low wattage appliances. Spending more for 5 stars might not break even before the fan died on you. I might reconsider buying V-touch instead of Sensa 4. Maybe I will do another round of calculation  biggrin.gif

What CC voucher that you use that can get 80 off from RM500 purchase. Seems like a good deal? I hate haggling too.. but since I am buying 7 units of ceiling fans, I might try to haggle at least to the cheapest online price and save on the shipping.
*
Both are equally good (Sensa or Vtouch junior). If you have no clearance issues, can get the 150cm fans those give more wind as compared to the 140cm ones. Or maybe living hall put nicer fan the rooms can skimp a bit.
If design is not a priority the basic 3 blade one with controller box is actually a very good fan (pushes 8122cfm) for the price.

140cm ones.. the better ones push 7900 cfm
The so called energy efficient (cut cost models) motors push 7400-7500 cfm only

The CC voucher was a SCB partnership with Shopee on home appliances category. Once in awhile they have it, not an ongoing evergreen promo though.

Of course, we knew diameter will definitely help.
TS was asking if the differences between 56'' and 60'' and I would say they are negligible.
Unless, we upsize to 70'' or 80'' and that will make a significant difference.
*
But even with the same diameter, there are weaker motors just to comply with 5* ratings, case in point bayoo4 vs any other higher priced KDK (vtouch junior/sensa 4), cfm is reduced because of weak motor 75xx vs 79xx cfm
