haha, now 3AM tired dy, brain not working right. Asked my friend and she say better get passport cos I am leaving the country anyways so I need a passport.

Now I need to find a place to stay. Tried sg-house.com but it's a very haphazard forum and ppl seem to just throw up their forum post there with a phone number and that's it. Tried easyroommate.com/sg but they don't have a lot of selection for the area I am going to stay in jurong west.

So any sifus here got suggestion for another website to search for roommate? I want to get rent below $300 and I figure the only way is to rent a room with another person. Datuk Google is handy, but It's hard to tell which sites are reputable. Like, if it wasn't for this thread I wouldn't know that JobsDB is more popular than jobstreet. This one have to rely on HUMAN INTELLIGENCE =P

Thanks in advance for all help rendered.

if ur passport has less then 6months then u need to renew it else sg wont let u in

as for lodging all sites r the same the agents jus dump a phone no its the same anywhere even in the papers. if there were such site it would already be posted in the 1st post. so its up to u to be more hardworking n do some homework by calling those agents to find a room 1 go call a few of them to tr get a room then go down make an appointment wif them to view the place.

thanks man. I didn't know if less than 6 months then I will be denied entry. Cos few weeks ago I went to Sg and I was just nice, haha. Guess I need to go renew my passport ady soon.

Yeah but I really dun want to go through agent...cos they usually charge 1/2 month rent as commission right? That's why I look through forums or post up ads so that ppl who want to rent/looking for roommate can contact me straight then both sides also happy.

So far it helps la, got to know 3 places already but since I am only available December, most of them are looking for ppl who can move in sooner.

How come the job market is getting smaller ah? SG finally feeling the effects of the global slowdown?

Any good places to stay near Jurong/NTU area? Can find a place for less than $350 or not? I was hoping since near NTU, more students means the place is less expensive
*
i found mine near Jurong Point 2yrs ago, it was only $280/mth. increased to $330/mth since early this yr. it inclusive of furniture & utilities.
so i think depends on luck bah.. especially when the property market is doing quite well recently.. smile.gif

no other way rarely houseowners will go tru the hassle to rent out their units to ppl cos to rent out a room or house the owner need to apply for a premit from hdb if they r renting out hdb unless u can afford to rent a private property mayb u can find even so private property owners r damn rich they dun mind letting the agent do it for them n the fee is 1 month not half.

zzz u dec move nowa nna find ar?impossible the fella help u unless so ngam the guy moving in dec also

how come ar read the papers once in awhile u'll know

is it? So can i find someone who currently has a room now and want to find a roommate? Would that person need a permit to rent out the room since technically he doesn't own it, he just stays there and want to share the cost with someone else? Cos I see a lot of ads looking for roommates.

now start looking for roommate ma...establish cable and see got ppl who are going there in dec or not. Don't want to get caught with pants down, haha.

I do read the papers everyday but i was reading this thread earlier and it gave me the impression that the sg economy is running pretty good. So I assumed there was some other circumstances causing the job market to shrink. It it's just the normal global slowdown then it's about time, lol. Here in Msia already feel it long time ago.

Hi, just wanna check out with you guys.

After you guys been working here for some years, do you still prefer working in Malaysia or Singapore?
Do you like Singapore or Malaysia more?
How long you guys intend to stay in Singapore?
What is the most difference thing that you encounter working between Malaysia and Singapore?

Singapore. More opportunities for higher level jobs, higher salary and stronger currency. If you work in Sg and retire back in Malaysia, assuming you receive the same salary (RM=S$), you can retire in less than half the time and still have the same amount of RM saved up in your bank account.

QUOTE(XfX)
Do you like Singapore or Malaysia more?
Depends. Singapore for its facilities, safety and meritocratic environment, Malaysia for the food, DVD, gila driving and generally more relaxed life.

QUOTE(XfX)
How long you guys intend to stay in Singapore?
Until I reach my retirement cash level.

QUOTE(XfX)

Salary, employee's market (for finance) & meritocracy.

QUOTE(siaukia)

Yes. Allows you to find another job if you lose the first one. And many employers will not pay your CPF if you're not a PR. As a PR & CPF member, you also get access to cheap (but very) basic life and medical insurance.

Shenton way is situated right inside the city. Whether you can get anything cheap, I don't know. but residential areas, Tanjong Pagar, Chinatown (people's park area), Fook Hai building location near upper cross street Chinatown Point, most convenient. Other further away places may be consider, Tiong Bahru and Bukit Mearh, which is just few MRT stops away from Raffles place.
