Yea, usually recession will only trickle down next year, unless you get overseas contracts which last a couple of years, then should be able to weather the financial downturn.

But AFAIK, Malays will surely suffer here for what I seen so far working here.

1) Companies normally won't tolerate Malays to go for Fridays prayers unless you are willing to skip ur lunch for prayers.

2) Very hard to find mosques to pray unlike in Malaysia unless you are so lucky able to find one just opposite ur office.

3) For makan, it's a bit difficult for faithful Malys bcos normally food courts sells pork rice... the next stall can sell halal food.... and some of my frens even say SG got halal punya babi...     On top of that, its extremely difficult to search for halal food... there are so little mamak stalls here...

4) I have even heard bosses here in SG prefer more Chinese than Malays bcos they know Mandarin.... but the fact is many Malays dunno Mandarin....

If you wanna buy computer stuffs, don't buy at singapore, go back to KL and buy at lowyat instead (for those who are from KL)... it is about 25% more cheaper after conversion.

For this it is cheap oso, but maybe not 25%, perhaps it's around RM320 if not mistaken. Bcos last month, I just bought all hardwares from MY and assemble it in SG. Total cost is RM3566 but if the same rig same specs, it is around $1,700++ and bcos in Sim Lim I heard alot of tipu case as well, means non-ori parts.
