Y.C.,
Same here.. over the weekend, when I am at home, I don't switch the T-Amp off.. tongue.gif
I am sure all of us are!(poisoned by the T-Amp that is!) biggrin.gif

With or without the input caps.. so long as I am getting the sound that I wanted and enjoy, I am not bothered (for now tongue.gif).. Its a never ending chase if you're looking for audio 'nirvana' so to speak.. so I would draw the line somewhere. Otherwise we'll go from obsession to insane! laugh.gif
Remember this is just a 'hobby' with a 'little' passion wink.gif

Overall I'd say the GC would.. then again in the cost factor wise, it would NOT be in the same league with the T-Amp. Am I right? tongue.gif

Oh yeah.. deadlines... more like the dreadlines biggrin.gif.. Same here in my profession.. Deadlines are good if used properly as an arousal for increased performance.. to a certain limit that is! Don't ask me how! brows.gif

Hitting the sack soon?

Me too... waiting for the Jazz Festival on tv to be over.. then hitting the sack with the spanking new jazz CDs that I bought moments ago.. tongue.gif

They really went 'overboard' with Charlize eh? Well let it be! biggrin.gif
I am happy with my baby.. too much 'make up' is no natural beauty.. wink.gif

Shall we pick a day after Raya to audition all our 'babies'? It will be one hell of a T-Amp session! thumbup.gif

Oh.. I just came up with one simple way to reduce/prevent this popping thing on our babies.. let me test it out first.. wink.gif We'll know before the week ends... brows.gif

QUOTE(Y.C. @ Sep 10 2008, 01:26 AM)
Ya, in a short while, I just looked at myself in the bathroom mirror and I certainly don't look good.

Agreed with you there is no end in chase to perfection in sound, however out of curiosity, diyparadise states the following on Charlize in their website:

..snip snip.. tongue.gif

xtorm,
not that really big but have only two 8 inch woofers. I think Y.C's speakers got three! But mine is a transmission line speakers. One of the best thing in life that I bought was that set of speakers.. now it's the T-Amp! thumbup.gif

There are limits to modifications anyway. Limit to physical limitations and designs.. anything more you have to move on to the next hardware level... right? tongue.gif

I got to get my stuffs from Y.C too.. this weekend seems good.. wink.gif
Burrbrown opamps? are you really? hmm.gif

QUOTE(xtorm @ Sep 10 2008, 01:42 AM)
....
hahah bro, your speaker woofer unit very big izit? tongue.gif
if the GC is better, there aint no shame in the t-amp, i mean, its so small tongue.gif i think most mention t-amp having the edge in details right?
eh all night ghost posting...hahahha, i dont think any1 can easily draw the line at a point, easpecially in hifi, we keep moving on as we gain experiance....

nothing much has been done in my t-amp, gona get those parts from Y.C> mayb tomolo Y.C.?
hmmm, serious? i know less is more, but hmmm, duno if its worth burning my burrbrown op-amp or not tongue.gif let me contact my burrbrown supplier 1st tongue.gif if it is cheap, then i gona risk mine for you all, wahahaha, but result may varies tho  sweat.gif

And I am one of the 'old' night owl too! tongue.gif

At night the T-Amp can be really loud! In the day, the volume setting on my pre-amp would be between 9-10 o'clock position. At night, 8 o'clock is kinda loud! best part is even at 'low' volume at night, you don't lose the resolutions.. the whole spectrum of sound is still there n fact there is 'more'...

My T-Amp is also downstairs.. the consolation is, so far no complaints yet! whistling.gif

QUOTE(ongbs @ Sep 10 2008, 01:45 AM)
Yes, me one of the night "old" owl here smile.gif

"Hunting" chance to blast my little amp kaw-kaw....wife and toy keep on complaining too loud, how to burn further huh? :'(
I am downstair and they are in inside the bed room, still want to complaint?  doh.gif  Pity me sad.gif

Heyy.. of course I am NOT really away from this thread.. just that I am away from home and my T-Amp.. tongue.gif

Anyway I should be home soon... very very soon! rclxm9.gif

Any chance of a 4th. batch? What about the opamps that you mentioned earlier? What are your plans? tongue.gif

Yes, did get some last nite.. 'cheaper' yes biggrin.gif Wish I brought more 'dough' tongue.gif

If you're commenting about ekool.. maybe he's a TAFC wannabe ? Finger trouble since he's a 'newbie' with a single posting.. hmm.gif

xtorm,
I gotta wait for this! Good luck! tongue.gif

ongbs, 65mA is like nothing eh? What about the power consumption of the SMPS?

Question: In the stock form, a polarised 1uF is connected in parallel with a NP 1uF(the yellow coloured one) right?
Why a polarised cap is used? hmm.gif I'd say this has got something to do with the DC biased input design of the T-Amp, no? Refer to evaluation board schematic. It's there at the input.

I hope ekool will be back.. I'm a curious why quoting the whole post without any comments.. lost for words? laugh.gif

Standby mode only 65mA, you can't even "feel" it  printed on the E.bill  laugh.gif

hahaha.. no worries! 5W? Really?
Hmmm my lenovo laptop PSU here (output 20V 3.25A) is stamped 65W.. biggrin.gif
Still I would consider 'negligible' eh? tongue.gif

Most maybe.. It is just the design on this TA2024 that is different I think.. hmm.gif

The Lost World(minus the "L").. I like it! laugh.gif

QUOTE(ongbs @ Sep 10 2008, 11:32 AM)
Aiya...can't be quite this time tongue.gif doh.gif
bro, I totally "ter-ignored" that SPMS liau....hmm...should be around 5W I think  hmm.gif

But most of the T-amps designs didn't have this DC caps right...?

this is call The Lost World (minus "L")  doh.gif  tongue.gif

May be it is! biggrin.gif
Anyway on my so called industrial type SMPS, even at idle, the output is still 12.6VDC 4.2A! The T-Amp may be idle but NOT the SMPS laugh.gif
Still not a major concern to me.. small consumption. I used to let my Technics switched on at extended hours.. consuming at least 800W of power, especially during the weekends.. I believe the On/OFF cycle is creating surges/stresses that is BAD for electronics..

I will be logging off soon. Need to check out by noon and head to the airport.. Home sweet home, I'm comin' home! rclxm9.gif

QUOTE(ongbs @ Sep 10 2008, 11:45 AM)
65W is the max output power, in standby mode without charging the lappy batteries, I believe it will only consume around 5W too  nod.gif

Yes.. That would be also my next task.. weekend probably. tongue.gif
Any improvements as the burn in hours are increasing?

Since I installed the 10000uF tank cap, the bass is a 'lil 'thick'.. which I like!
Might add another 10000uF wink.gif

xtorm,
eh? why is that so? hmm.gif

So, how many caps are installed? tongue.gif

Well, as long as you like the sound it doesn't matter if it's 'el-cheapo' laugh.gif

QUOTE(xtorm @ Sep 11 2008, 01:17 AM)
haha op-amp isnt use in the t-amp, but if i were gona try the t-amp without input cap, i might risk burning my electronic crossover opamp..

just made a new 3.5mm jack to rca from the sato, with the new config, im liking the sound, its wide and airy!! hahaha

I tried to google for that Sansui model but nothing worthwhile turn up.. but, hey at that price I won't complaint! I could have bought it too if not for my current player.

I am btw, using an old, infact one of the earliest Sony's DVD player, DVP-S7000. This player makes one hell of a CD transport.. I read the reviews, bought it and I couldn't agree more! wink.gif Value for money as the condition is almost mint for few hundred bucks biggrin.gif

Wahh bro Y.C., you sure can 'sweet talk'/poison people esp. your friends into buying 'anything' thumbup.gif

I may also,(damn! gonna hate myself for this tongue.gif), acquire another top of the range CDP. An old model-read that obsolete. This time a real CDP tongue.gif
For the sole reason that it has an I2S digital out which I can feed directly to my DAC brows.gif We'll see if there would be 'some' improvements in the sonic department.. Ooohhh so much to do this weekend! tongue.gif

Talking about Sansui, the only Sansui that I have right now is an analogue tuner which I am still using, bought circa 1982... Excellent product! thumbup.gif

Y.C., how many of those SMDs (caps and resistors) that you have replaced? Improved the sonics? hmm.gif
