hsss even without playing any song?
may it cause by poor grounding/ circuit design? this noise hardly heard on those higher range amp. Mind to share more detail on your equipment setup? Hi Ong, I'm using Marantz 5001 cd player to audiolab 8000DAC to Soundstage 1.5 to Mordaunt short Mezzo 6. I can hear the hsss when I put my ear to the speaker without playing the song. More than 0.5 feet from the speaker cannot heard any hssss. Is it any wrong with my amp? or any other thing? Added on August 23, 2008, 11:36 pmIs the t-amp provide any hssss? mysghooi,
A little hiss should be inevitable and acceptable as you cannot hear it from your listening position. I once owned a Creek A50iR integrated amp and it developed a hiss or actually buzzing sound so loud that I could hear it in my listening position which is six to seven feet from the loudspeakers. And after I switched to another amp, the buzzing sound was no more there, only serve to confirm something is not quite right with the Creek amp. My subsequent amps do not exhibit such problems and when I put my ears close to the speaker drivers when music is not playing, it is a complete silence. I have not receive my T-amp yet but strongly believe there should not be any hissing sound. Interference from other electrical appliances in your house may be possible cause to the hissing sound. |

So without the hsss. The sound should be much more transparent?

QUOTE(mysghooi @ Aug 24 2008, 12:24 AM) If totally without any hiss, the sound should come out clearer so, I would say it is slightly more transparent. However, I believe you are referring to which amp will sound more real in potraying the musical event and to this, I cannot comment as I have yet to compare the T-amp to other amps. Let us find that out in couple of days' time. |

QUOTE(mysghooi @ Aug 24 2008, 12:37 AM) Try plugging the amp into other plug point elsewhere, okay to use extension cords if not long enough. If problem still persist, amp is the culprit and as I pointed out above, a slight hiss should be acceptable as the hiss does not actually disrupt your listening session. |

Yup tested with other plug point. same issue. I think is my amp problem.
May later I test it with my T-amp. See whether still got the same problem or not. |

ongbs,
how's your T-amp sounding now after change of input and power supply capacitors? From the pictures posted, I did not see any resistors on the board, are they soldered underneath? And the 4 units of inductance cores, what are they actually (the ones which could be replaced with inductance air cores)? ferrite cores? |

when you put your ear tht near to the speaker, it is normal to have a little hissing, you mention 0.5ft away you dontt hear any hissing anymore, then its perfectly normal, no worries t-amp does have a little hiss, unison research simply 4 does hiss too and its rm6k tht time. i mean when you put your ear next to the driver, especially tweeter. Y.C. they are all smd component, thts why i change mine to 1% metal film type. as for the meterial, i got no idea at all... |

QUOTE(Y.C. @ Aug 24 2008, 12:49 AM) ongbs, After the input cap and power cap mod, the bass deeper, mid warmer but slightly cut of high frequency.
