Power/quality/cost wise the GC is a good choice. Balanced. biggrin.gif
I got ALL parts including the LM3886 chip from JP! wink.gif
This is a while back, I'd say for parts alone, its between RM50-60. Power supply is another ball game ya! tongue.gif
*
yup....power supply...base on your experience...how much it cost??? a simple decent power supply.....then compared to that snubbed thing......

You've been doing homework and research ya! tongue.gif

A normal good quality regulated PSU should suffice for the GC. At least, I'll start here first.
Last year it cost me around RM70. The bulk of the cost goes to the transformer! This year should be slightly more.. wink.gif

Snubberized PSU is the use of resistor and capacitor network to restore the sound when you have a difficult speakers to drive and by using bigger caps on the power supply, tends to rob away your mids and high ends. The snubber network is supposed to restore this! biggrin.gif
This is the best I could explain to you. rolleyes.gif

Snubberized PSU also use expensive high speed diodes(MUR860 (RM6 each)) and huge main reservoir caps @10000uF.. not including the toroid!
A 2x30V 225VA can set you back RM154(rsmalaysia price). A 10000uF 40V cap will cost Rm34 while a 63V one is RM150! tongue.gif

Unless you have very hard to drive speakers, a non-snubberized PSU should be fine!

Did I satisfactorily answer your question? Sorry for the deviation guys! blush.gif

This is even worst! = more expensive!  tongue.gif
I see lotsa machined aluminium alloy!  shakehead.gif

The casing that I like will only require a 'flash chrome' plating and a good fine metal polish.. wink.gif

Wonder why we are the only two 'chatting' here..  hmm.gif

coz less one ah pek (me lah) barking here tongue.gif

hehe...

bro jazzy, you like flashy rather than flat black?

I'd say it will 'look' expensive wink.gif It's just a 'flash chrome' plating, followed by fine metal polishing, buffing.

I have this spare PSU casing, if you're on a tight budget, it will suffice. However the PSU will be on a separate similar housing. Certainly would look nice, side by side.. wink.gif

spray it with flat black will make it look a bit brows.gif more "classy"

hahaha this place is quiet la without you! tongue.gif

Most of my stuffs.. DIY stuffs included are normally black and shades of it.. kinda 'dull' huh? biggrin.gif

This time, the 'flashy' chrome finish will definitely reflects the amp high fidelity, quality and 'out of this world' sound! brows.gif
(pun intended) wink.gif

Sorry to disappoint you gabanyayaya... tongue.gif

Well, the basic T-Amp is singing sweetly now.. Diana Krall is playing infront of me here.. wink.gif Simply couldn't locate my speakers! tongue.gif

RTL3, excellent speakers! They don't make these type of speakers anymore.. too bad... sad.gif

The chrome thingy is done using electroplating method. Dip the required part in a 'chrome bath', connect it to one of the electrodes and switch ON for some time. Voila! Chrome plating! biggrin.gif

Yes I ordered another 2 boards! wink.gif

Kit? What you mean?
It's just a plating done to any metal..normally we use steel.

Definition from wikipedia:
"Chrome plating is a technique of electroplating a thin layer of chromium onto a metal object. The chromed layer can be decorative, or it may help provide corrosion resistance."

may it cause by poor grounding/ circuit design?
this noise hardly heard on those higher range amp.

Mind to share more detail on your equipment setup?
