PcWork,
You certainly do have great attitude.  thumbup.gif

Jazzy,
Thank you so much for your understanding.  smile.gif
I wonder how the rest of guys would take to the postphonement of our first t/t session. I was also looking forward to bsl joining us as a nuetral observer and listener, maybe we could succeed in spreading some T-amp poison to him as well.  hmm.gif  laugh.gif

I'm 100% agreed....something come across today and I have to settle it tomorrow and might not able to attend to TT. Guys better find a suitable day for TT......

So as host for our first ever T-amp T/T session, I hereby pronounce that the session has been postphoned to next weekend, tentatively scheduled at same time but subject to finalisation of all as the date draws nearer.

Wishing all a superb weekend ahead. biggrin.gif

Based on some personal planning & forecast, there's a high possibility I won't even be able to make it next week either.

hi mikoblackcat,
soon as in 'batch 5' ? how soon is that? tongue.gif

Can you give some details of your DIY tube pre-amp..? TQ.

Oh.. I have no idea about the "batch 5"... I am getting it from here... Diyparadise

this it the amp

user posted image

as for the diy tube pre-amp, I am using the famous Marantz M7 tube pre-amp circuit but it is already enhanced where all the tone control is taken out.. (I prefer to run flat), The power supply is also improved by using a solid state regulator and a regulated DC heater supply... I wish I can post the schematic here but I no longer have it.. unless it is somewhere inside the boxes where all my junks is stored.. doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif

M7?.. Didn't impress me at all when I last played with one that was sold as a kit from Octave. It had many faults like high noise floor, some hum, picked up RF noise, too high output. Quite a flawed performer. Hope yours ain't like that.

That is a Charlize using a TA2020 chip; the T-amp of most forumers here is TA2024, March05 and Vincent-Audio excepted. There is a difference in sound of the two T-amps; the former is more powerful at 20W and its main characteristic is smoothness whereas the latter offers only 10W and is more about micro details.

You are not getting a TA2024 board from Xtorm? hmm.gif

Huh... sorry to hear that...mine is completely diy.. no PCB... it is hard wired point to point an have no problem..

in tube pre-amp / power amp,
there is a lot of thing that needed to be considered such as the placement of the power transformer (distance / orientation) from the audio circuitry.
ground loop is also the major cause of hum besides the heater supply wiring and type of voltage fed to the heater...

Shakatak is more into funk jazz genre.. with catchy electric piano lead and female backups.. always their signature..
Brian Simpson? hehehe listening to him right now! laugh.gif

Currently making some PCBs using ExpressPCB for my speaker relay board, buffer pre-amp and a buffer board.. wink.gif

That question will be answered next week! tongue.gif

I am looking forward to the buffer pre-amp too.. can't wait to hear how it would match the T-Amp and later the Det'nator. Yes.. the JFET transistor. From what I read, JFET should sounds like a tube (?).. wink.gif
Hopefully can get one prototype running tonite or by tomorrow.. sweat.gif
