Probably it's not worth the effort! laugh.gif
My PSU should be able to cope with any transient current drain.. I usually set the pre-amp volume around 9 o'clock position.
Now I only need at 8 o'clock position! wink.gif Now clocking at 15 hours... and still clocking.. whistling.gif

Have not heard anymore sonic improvements in this 'lil marvel.
I guess 20 hours should be the minimum.. Someone said 100 hours! shakehead.gif Too long way to go/wait!
I don't have that patience... wink.gif

QUOTE(xtorm @ Aug 22 2008, 12:29 PM)

Y.C.,
I pretty much agree to that.. tongue.gif
I should hit the 30 hours shortly.. will be scrutinising the sonics tonite wink.gif
Just got a call from two TT fans calling me to join them in JP before they wallop lock stock and barrel! laugh.gif
Hopefully I can.. tongue.gif Anybody? TT Session in JP? biggrin.gif

QUOTE(Y.C. @ Aug 22 2008, 01:16 PM)
jazzy,

Under normal circumstances, amplifiers need 100 hours to run-in. However, after the first 30 hours of play, its sound is already quite listenable. The sonic improvements after this would be subtle - midrange becoming more liquid-sounding, treble less brittle-sounding and bass goes deeper and lower. If we were to put out ears close to the drivers of our loudspeakers, the tsssh sound from the drivers would be totally gone once the amp is fully run-in (speaking from my own experience)

The sonic characters of T-amp should already been very obvious by now, after 25 hours of playing music.

This is not normal la for a speaker to be 'hissing' without any signal, it's like the amp volume at 'maximum' and treble set at 'maximum' too... tongue.gif
Something wrong with your amp?

That Class D amp no longer qualifies for 'best value for money'; so won't be taking that option! tongue.gif
That TT session tak jadi.. raining! laugh.gif

Now already hit 33 hours of burn in rclxm9.gif The T-Amp is singing beautifully now... wink.gif

More expensive than the LM3886.. should be better! wink.gif
USD30? Really... well it's kinda close to what rsmalaysia is selling too!

QUOTE(gabanyayaya @ Aug 22 2008, 11:01 PM)
LM3883RA as for price also.....do you think this is a good kit????? oh one more thing...they even sale toroid for 30USD...you think that's value for money???

Power/quality/cost wise the GC is a good choice. Balanced. biggrin.gif
I got ALL parts including the LM3886 chip from JP! wink.gif
This is a while back, I'd say for parts alone, its between RM50-60. Power supply is another ball game ya! tongue.gif

QUOTE(gabanyayaya @ Aug 22 2008, 11:14 PM)
IMHO TA2024 is a good kit considering for the cost and simplicity...but 9W is a bit power shy la...

for GC i think is a good choice...50W is fine. jazzy if i'm thinking for a point to point GC power amp, how much i have spend when sourcing parts locally like you did.....

You've been doing homework and research ya! tongue.gif

A normal good quality regulated PSU should suffice for the GC. At least, I'll start here first.
Last year it cost me around RM70. The bulk of the cost goes to the transformer! This year should be slightly more.. wink.gif

Snubberized PSU is the use of resistor and capacitor network to restore the sound when you have a difficult speakers to drive and by using bigger caps on the power supply, tends to rob away your mids and high ends. The snubber network is supposed to restore this! biggrin.gif
This is the best I could explain to you. rolleyes.gif

Snubberized PSU also use expensive high speed diodes(MUR860 (RM6 each)) and huge main reservoir caps @10000uF.. not including the toroid!
A 2x30V 225VA can set you back RM154(rsmalaysia price). A 10000uF 40V cap will cost Rm34 while a 63V one is RM150! tongue.gif

Unless you have very hard to drive speakers, a non-snubberized PSU should be fine!

Did I satisfactorily answer your question? Sorry for the deviation guys! blush.gif

QUOTE(gabanyayaya @ Aug 22 2008, 11:34 PM)
yup....power supply...base on your experience...how much it cost??? a simple decent power supply.....then compared to that snubbed thing......

i like this one.....how's snubbed differ from normal one jazzy????

Heyy! That homemade toroid is a toroid inductor NOT a tranny! laugh.gif

QUOTE(gabanyayaya @ Aug 23 2008, 12:15 AM)
hmmm.... RM60-50 for amp and RM100 for PSU is still ok I guess....and you said toroid can be home made hehehe....this could be big project here...... jazzy is always here  biggrin.gif

hahaha this place is quiet la without you! tongue.gif

Most of my stuffs.. DIY stuffs included are normally black and shades of it.. kinda 'dull' huh? biggrin.gif

This time, the 'flashy' chrome finish will definitely reflects the amp high fidelity, quality and 'out of this world' sound! brows.gif
(pun intended) wink.gif

QUOTE(ongbs @ Aug 23 2008, 12:18 AM)

Sorry to disappoint you gabanyayaya... tongue.gif

Well, the basic T-Amp is singing sweetly now.. Diana Krall is playing infront of me here.. wink.gif Simply couldn't locate my speakers! tongue.gif

RTL3, excellent speakers! They don't make these type of speakers anymore.. too bad... sad.gif

The chrome thingy is done using electroplating method. Dip the required part in a 'chrome bath', connect it to one of the electrodes and switch ON for some time. Voila! Chrome plating! biggrin.gif

Yes I ordered another 2 boards! wink.gif

QUOTE(gabanyayaya @ Aug 23 2008, 12:24 AM)

if only you could use a 12V battery instead...

jazzy kasi siap that T-amp cepat2 la....I just can't wait to hear it...

Kit? What you mean?
It's just a plating done to any metal..normally we use steel.

Definition from wikipedia:
"Chrome plating is a technique of electroplating a thin layer of chromium onto a metal object. The chromed layer can be decorative, or it may help provide corrosion resistance."

QUOTE(gabanyayaya @ Aug 23 2008, 12:38 AM)
so this chrome works from a kit rite?
