bef this i used older version of winpwn for firmware version 1.1.4
n now i use the latest version of winpwn for 2.0.1
let say if i wan to restore back to version 1.1.4, i just use the same method n step like 2.0.1?

coz all the time i used teh old version of winpwn to pwn my iphone wit firmware 1.1.4
just started to use the latest verison of winpwn n it is different.
so i wonder the steps i used for 2.0.1 and 1.1.4 same?
can i use the same method to jb and unlock firmware version 2.0.1 for 1.1.4..

Yea.... I agreed that Pwnage has no problem at all, when comes to enter DFU mode.
It does provide the "countdown" for you. Not sure about WinPwn

i finish uni at 3pm tomorrow. i am open to both gardens and pj (one utama, curve, ikano etc) as they are all along the federal highway. fyi, it takes me about 40 minutes (plus minus) to get to either location.

so it is up to you to dictate the place and time and if it matches my schedule, i'll be there for sure.

Downgrading the iphone is not easy as it requires u to do lot's more than the upgrading method. Just have a look at the link below.

Error 16** can mean 3 things:

1. U got the wrong IPSW
2. Phone not in DFU mode
3. Itunes not yet pwned

Download the IPSW from here. Run WinPwn and select the stock IPSW. Next step would be creating the CUSTOM firmware. If you want to use Cydia + Installer + Youtube Fix + BootNeuter, u need to increase the root partition to 550mb so it have enough space to unpack/install later. I suggest this combination ... Cydia + Installer + Youtube fix + Activate phone only (no bootneuter) + increase root partition to 550mb. Then create the custom ipsw. Once its finish, click on the iPwner, look for the custom ipsw file that u just created. This will pwned itunes to let us restore any firmware we like. Make sure your itunes is the latest (v7.7.1). Once it said itunes is pwned, close winpwn and open itunes. Put the phone in DFU and restore with the custom ipsw. If you follow this, i'm pretty sure u will not get the error 16xx thing.

After you guys went back, the update from the app itself ran strangely well. Downloaded the IPSW from Corvinux and we were in business. Unless we have another 3G user needing jailbreak, I'll have to pre-download the IPSW beforehand.

darn! i have been looking for my post leading to your question high and low. anyway i was relatively free this morning and did my own fair share of experimenting. to answer your question, bosspref is available to 2.0.1 and it works like a charm. tested it, licked it and lovin' it!


refresh your cydia sources and look carefully for the desired app.


this post is also applicable to all new to 2.0.1 fw, like myself! hope that help.

Nokia overly excited over his newly pwned phone + holding string's 3G phone yesterday. So he basically pwned the phone again last night. Now he's sifu already pasal winpwn.

Aiyak last night also dunno la. Still hung over from the JB trip (or still thinking about the kenny rogers chicken ). Driving but my mind was thinking something else. Luckily i didn't drive back to JB.

We’ve got something for you! (No, it’s not the 3G unlock, but still something very useful.)

It’s a tool we’ve been working on to jailbreak a phone more quickly and easily, without requiring a full restore. Unless you are making a custom firmware with specific features, there is nothing inherent in the pwnage process that requires a restore, and we have been planning this tool for some time. It’s more convenient because you do not need to make a full IPSW and use iTunes with it, but your phone still ends up pwned and jailbroken.

In an attempt to be more open about our development process, we’re releasing a beta version of quickpwn, for Windows only. Other platforms are coming soon.

What you’re getting here is a development version (mostly feature complete) of an upcoming tool that we see as a complement to our current PwnageTool. It’s not ready for everyone just yet, but with a bit of expertise, it should work nicely for those of you adventurous enough to try it.

Remember that although this is a development release, jailbreaking only deals with the S5L (application processor) side of the device, so it’s impossible for this to permanently damage your device.

This tool and technique has been available to the iPhone research and hacking community for about 5 days now (if you looked hard enough) and now we’ve released this we are sure you’ll see all sorts of tools popping back up that have, erm„ been on a long hiatus :-)
