You got Sharp Eyes..Bingo, correct. How u differentiate, the images white balance and contrast not so same..
But Not full detailing, only bonnet, side fender, headlamps, others are left untouched. No time..

Judging from your pics, the bumper looks darker and wetter and the paint does look rejuvenated in the after pics. We have another car crazy fella here biggrin.gif Nice having people like you to come here and share your hard work with us, appreciate it...

I m crazzee fella.. tongue.gif
that front bumper is the result of ArmolAll vinly/rubber protectant...oilly, give darker and shiny looks...ArmolAll brand products slightly better than "ciplak" unbrand local made products..
But most of the vinly/rubber protectant used for interior doesn't last long if apply at exterior, the oil n protectant is gone after heavy downpour or single car washing...

Wana try endurance tire gel and rub in on plasticbumper , it will last longer for sure, weeks or even months.

I think next week wanna try DC3 carnauba wax vs NXT Tech Wax vs M21 Sealant vs Gold Class clear coat wax on dark colour metallicc paint
, see the result.. tongue.gif tongue.gif

No need wor. smile.gif Apply small amount each time only...wipe off with clean cloth after polish. If not satisfied, polish again and again until you can't see any difference.

i divide the headlamp into 2portion, upper and lower. What you need is alot of force..hand pressure.

Thanks for your compliments. One thing I learn on how to do a good work is :
Treat your customer's cars like your own!

If you can afford it and want your car to be 100% flawless, AutoDetailer SS2 is the only place to go. If you can only afford 40 - 50% lesser price than AutoDetailer, then come to me ( shameless plug )!

Added on February 21, 2007, 1:00 pmAllright, lemme straighten something up : No way that your car doesn't have ANY swirls. It does have some. Even mine got a few, but at least it's not so noticable, even in direct sunlight.

Ok, to maintain the quality of the paintwork on your car is simple : go for a full detail ( wash, clay, reduce those REALLY glaring scratches, polish and wax / sealant ). And do it often, like at least once a month. And wash your car weekly, a minimum. Or if got time, twice a week.

Rather than you going to that (@rnauba - sh!t - sh0p, come to me instead! I've said this once and I'll say it again. Everytime I go to work, or on my way home, I will pass their shop. I have also seen up close and personal, how the Bangla, or Vietcong boys polish cars with quite an abrasive stuff, with a ROTARY ( and the assh0le really doesn't know how to use the rotary properly ), and no FOLLOW - UP work with a dual action orbiter with a less stronger abrasive polish. Oh yeah, cars detailed by that (@rnauba - sh!t - sh0p looks shiny at their shop with all those bright lights, but take a good, 2nd look in direct, hot afternoon sunlight. You will see that the there will be holograms! Yuck! And what about swirls? Eeeuuwwww...

A number of my workshop boy's customers cars ( a few M3s, one M5 to say the least ) is detailed by them. Yes, the cars look shiny, but my car, when parked side to side and in direct sunlight, have lesser visible swirls compared to the cars sent to that (@rnauba - sh!t - sh0p! I got no holograms, but they got quite a few! And they pay RM 1700++ monthly for : 1 full detail work and countless washes. Well, I did try to bid their business, but since they can't leave their cars with me for days ( they do leave their cars at that (@rnauba - sh!t - sh0p for about 3 days or so when they go for full detail, when the work takes only a max of 8 hours ), I couldn't get it.

There are 3 types of polish ( that I know of ) :
- abrasive polish ( to smoothen out scratches / swirls ).
- abrasive polish with diminishing properties ( like MG's stuffs that I use. It will 1st smoothen out the body panels, then, under a minute or so, the soft abrasives in the polish with break down and become pure polishing oils instead, works well and is extremely safe ).
- pure polish ( will NEVER level out the swirls / scratches on the car, it will ONLY fill them in and the swirls / scratches will revela themselves in a couple of washes )

You can get swirls / scratches by :
- leaning / sitting on your car,
- buffing something off the car via a tissue, cloth, your own hands etc,
- rinsing, washing and drying your car ( when you are not doing the best possible way to reduce the chances of instilling swirls / scratches )
- when parking your car in a tight spot. The fella who parked his car beside you might accidently brush your car with his shopping bags ( yes, those heavy, filled with groceries plastic bags can scratch your paintwork! ), or worse, might swipe your car with his jeans ( those reddish buttons on your jeans? Oopppss! )
- driving. The car / lorry / bike / truck might be using softer compound tyres, and stones will stick on these type of tyres and fly off to you.
- when parking your car outside. Sometimes, some areas are "trapped" between taller / larger buildings. During strong winds, the areas lower, or trapped between taller and larger buildings will get that "mini tornado effect". Have you seen dusts and dried leaves swirling around in one spot? Imagine those swirling stones, dusts and dried leaves around your car? Voila, free scratches!

You will get swirls and scratches on your vehicles, it's something we can't avoid and something we have to live with. Best way to handle it is : do the best we can to reduce the chance of instilling MORE swirls / scratches, and do safe, repeatable remedy work that will safely remove, to some extend, these swirls and scratches and in the same time, not buffing too much clearcoat until the paintwork becomes too thin.

I'm not saying that I'm a pro in detailing, but I have learned a lot of detailing and now, I can detail the exterior of cars and bikes, reduce the appearance of swirls and scratches until they are about, at the minimum, 40 - 50% gone, and the car shines, reflects with good clarity and depth, and also, the wet - look! biggrin.gif

Hey, how come u got 2 bottles of DCS step 2 polish biggrin.gif

This is what i did today... just a testing on the hood tongue.gif

user posted image

It's a 7 years old ride with 158,000 KM on it. Clayed the hood 1st, then treated with DCS step 1 and step 2. Then i proceed to divide the hood into 3 parts and try different LSP on each of them. Upper and middle part were wiped with a sealant, lower part were applied with MG DCS step 3 carnauba wax. Will try to layer a carnauba wax on the sealant after a sufficient time had passed to allowed the sealant to cure properly.

Oh, i din noticed that..I have 2bottles DC2 and 2bottle DC1...
ScratchX and M16 not in the pic..

How long do you wait for the sealant to cure? 12hours?

Well, my house is facing the main road..i can't wait for the next day to wax. If i wait for the next day to wax...the whole car need washing again.. sad.gif sad.gif

sealant at bottom, DC3 on Top..yeah, this is what i try today. I can't tell the difference because the heavy downpour "wash away" my wax already...

Waited about 12 hours to apply another coat of sealant, then tomorrow/later today will layer DC3 on top of the sealant.

But frankly, sealant produces more clarity and reflections are deeper but less glossy compared to carnauba wax as seen on the pic in my previous post. Oh yea, it's been raining pussi and b*tch lately... Have to detail my car in the car porch.

Btw, nice job ralf. Love your products collection notworthy.gif

Do you guys apply the sealant only or it'll be topped up with another layer of wax??? I was thinking of a layer of NXT wax then finish with the sealant..........or is it suppose to go the other way around?? Sealant then wax???

It's sealant => wax. Carnauba wax will evaporate over time, therefore it's not advisable to layer a sealant on top of a carnauba wax.

Not sure about this, but i think NXT tech wax is a form of polymer sealant without natural carnauba wax in it.

I don't get that phrase.....sealant then wax or sealant is a form of wax so I don't need another layer of NXT??

thom_chai,
Thanks..
Agree, sealant produce more clarity and 'cleaner' looks.

I am quite happy with the end results, despite fine scratches that cannot be removed by DC1+DC2.

Where to get M80(32oz) or anyone doing bulk buy, get the 1gallon and share?? Interested on the M#7(16oz) too..

Errr, frankly speaking, i never like the M21(bottom) + NXT on top combination...I can feel the NXT is removing the bottom layer of sealant or wax a little bit...

I know there are so many car crazzee fella like us like Shiny and glossy look laugh.gif tongue.gif , sealant, wax..combination..top using xx. bottom using xx...
Arrr..isn't it too much? tongue.gif

Completed exterior detailing today. Took almost 3 days with around 6 hours of work each day. All done by hand, no machine, which is very tiring indeed sweat.gif LSP applied: Autoglym Extra Gloss (Sealant)

Reflection on the roof is almost as clear as the windscreen at certain angle
user posted image

Cloud reflection. The hood has MG DC3 carnauba wax applied on top of the Autoglym sealant.

Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection(EGP), I bought it for Brunei $22 at Brunei, only 325ml capacity sad.gif

Will re-wash the car again in 3 days, then i'll do the interior detailing and re-apply the sealant and see how it goes.

Yeah, approx 6 hours per day. Claying alone already took almost 4 hours, washing and drying around 2 hours sweat.gif
