all pros out there,
would like to know if take under low light condition, will it have alot noise?
You need to understand 1st things 1st.....noise depends heavily on your ISO settings.
So depending on what ISO setting u r using, u will get totally different levels of noise.
In the case of the LX3, noise levels surges to quite high levels at ISO-800.
But relatively, for a compact cam, the noise levels are still acceptably low (due to the fact that compacts have smaller sensors compared with DSLRs).
And since the LX3 comes with the remarkable f/2.0 aperture, you can get the same exposure with lower ISO settings as compared with other compact cams out there.
Bottom line, you get less noise because you are using a bigger aperture.
For advanced users, you can even set the limits for the "Intelligent ISO" settings in your cam.
This helps control the max ISO settings your camera will use and therefore controlling the amount of noise in your photos.
Take a look at this shot.
Unedited except for the signature and frame.
It is basically noiseless due to the fact that I was using ISO-80 + a small aperture to keep the DOF + a very long shutter speed (10s).
Camera - Lumix LX3
Aperture - f/8.0
Shutter - 10s
ISO - 80This post has been edited by PCHo: Oct 1 2008, 11:29 PM
