LX3 isn't that small also though, it's still bulky and hard to carry out since you can't put it in your pocket (Unless you have a real deep and big pocket). My Casio Exilim seems to be more portable and better for casual photo shooting. Then again, if your crazy photographer, ignore what i just said.. lol..

Dude... read the thread.. It has been posted like... tons of times? Even if the price changes, it should stay around that range. Don't expect a sudden price drop of 200-300 bucks.. that is very unlikely...

Price vary based on the package offered by the seller. It's for the best u ask around different shops for the best price and best package.

Size is quite subjective and some may be able to accept the LX3's size, some might not.
Since I started using digicams, I've not kept them in my pocket at all.
Always a wrist strap + pouch.

But chris11, since u r comparing the LX2 with the LX3, I m guessing u already know the size of both these cams right?
And I am also guessing u want something slightly more powerful than ur standard P&S cam rite?
All I can say is the LX3 won't dissappoint u in this category.
But if budget is a concern, the LX2 should be a good buy.

Prolly it'll be better if you would tell us the budget and some extra info (expected size, particular brands you are interested in, etc) then it'll be much easier to narrow down your search and also for the guys here to advise.

Wanting something small without budget constraints would be just like telling ppl "Hey I wan a small laptop!" and you'll have ppl asking u to buy 4-5k worth ultra portable lappy.. lol...

size do matter, but IQ also matter.

I am looking for something tat can get good IQ and compact. is it this the best compact cam for me?
wonder tat is it worth to get LX3 or jus DLUX4? XD

wat i read is G10 will have some noise although wif ISO 100 and above. is it true? hmm...

Size wise, for me i always bring a pouch and hang it over my shoulder, you could opt for a waist pouch but it'll be quite bulky since I tried that and it's a bother to me.

Your choice of word:"Compact", you wan a small + portable cam? Don't think this cam actually fits into that category though. But then again, like what pCHO said, it differs from one individual to another on their own definition of "Small" and "Big". To me, LX3 is considered Big (Please don't compare to DSLR) and Sony T77 is considered small to me.. So.. what's your size? lol...

Also, money constraints AKA Budget (again?), and the reason for me to bring a camera with me matters. Certain times, a camera phone can capture those special moments (a baby's smile! by the time u get the cam, the baby might be crying then since my phone follows me around, my cam doesn't) I'll bring my LX3 with me when i'm travelling or for events or go shopping or dining (Some shopping malls have tons of interesting decors and products and I love food!)

Just my dua cent..

Why pay 4x more for something that is exactly the same? blink.gif
It's like paying more for a Toyota Passo instead of just getting a Myvi whistling.gif

chris11, if you already have a G1 (which btw is already very portable for a dSLR), then i think no point to get an LX3, which is not exactly that portable.

Plus you got a tight budget, so i think better if you go for FX38. It's got a wide 25mm lense, comes in a small package and should cost you around rm1000.

Btw Zeeker, i feel regret nvr buy your LX3... haha...I might just go for the silver now.

Anyone bought from Best Denki before? They offered me rm1599 (with 12-months 0% repayment, no one-time charge either), and they're giving the standard class-4 SDHC Pana, soft casing + their 5 year extended warranty thrown in for free (costs about rm127).

Ok?

2 years Pana then 3 years Denki... I know, usually I never opt for this extended warranties by shops one if I have to pay. Afterall, electronic products tend to be obsolete after 2 years anyway. But they throwing it in for free.... hence me giving it a thought.

Zeeker, black none liaoz. I think need to go find in a remote town see if still got. Pantai Remis here I come! haha....

AngleR35, one time charge is because some shops when u opt to pay 0% installment, they still charge you 2 to 4% charge of the cost of your purchace. Where possible, you must try not to pay. Shops are trying to pass they cost of dealin with bank to the consumer.

Oh btw chris11, how much you got your G1 for? and what was given to you in the package?

I used to owned one ultrazoom camera (Minolta) back in 2004. It is not full-feature SLR, just about he same size or smaller than the UZ camera, i.e. G1, TZ-series, Canon SX-series, Fuji f-x000 series.

Just to share, pocketability of camera is not really THE concern for ultrazoom camera. The problem of such size camera is when we go for social event, party, family and friends gathering, outing, window shopping, etc, the DSLR really seems out of place. It is not cool to bring UZ/SLR-type camera to such event. rolleyes.gif

Either too many enthusiasts want to touch and play with your camera (which makes you worry if you do, or stingy if you don't let them), or nobody dare to touch it (there goes a picture without you in it). Also you will be asked to become the cameraman. Lost opportunity for socializing. If crowded, then worried about stain/damage. If dining, too troublesome to put your gears, camera. Possibly have to dig under the table, chair for your big camera. Can't put the camera on the table, accessible for you and everyone for more candid/funny pictures. When dating, you gf will either feel she is getting too much attention from the crowd when you take her picture, or you are not paying enough attention if you are taking too much picture of scenery, picture. If you don't use it, then no point of bring it out at all.

One last thing, forget about taking self portrait with your gf/bf with UZ/SLR camera. :rolleye:

My definition of portable is that it enable me to bring to such event. Usually with a pouch, or hang it over my head and hidden under jacket. Always ready, anytime biggrin.gif Can G1 or other UZ camera do that? LX-3, and Lumix LZ-series is just about the limit. Canon G10 is probably the border.
